PINK FLOYD was was set by syd very early to get the drift of the group, he set the groundings, but after he went crazy on drugs the rest of the group got down to real songs, but syd did make some good songs, however it was down to roger waters to take sysd interesting work and improve on that, david was another important cog as he had the voice and guitar so he set the spine of the group. , mason and Wright in drums and keyboards did the trick.
This song was released when I was 10 years old in 1973. The beginning intro is a life beginning then you're sitting around wasting time waiting for friends to hang out then you get the point of where time is passing you by cuz you missed the starting gun, then going into the guitar solo that's like your life passing you by then when the lyrics come back your chasing time trying to get back the time you missed but the sun is racing up behind you so fast the sun is the same in a relative way but you are in fact older! Then when it says far away across the field the tolling of the iron bell, that's life ending and never having made up for any lost time. Like the song says when we're young life is long, we feel like we have forever but when you get my age you realize life is short and passes you by fast. Here I am trying to make up for that past time I can never get back so live life to the fullest and never have any regrets!!!
So glad i just found your channel, Pink Floyd are very special to me, They honestly don't have a bad song. You don't just listen to Pink Floyd you experience them. Much love from the UK ! x
I've been listening to this since the early '70s and to me the piece takes you through a person's life from conception; the long intro. represents the time up to the development of reasoning, usually late teens; it's completed with the individual's funeral. "Time" becomes increasingly relevant as one gets older; I'm in my '70s now and it resonates stronger than ever.
Thanks for the reaction. Listen to this song every 5-10 years or so, and you'll find a different meaning each time, as years goes by. I first listened to it when I was 12, then it had a different meaning at 22, 32, 42 & now 51 y.old. Have a nice day.
Great reaction to a brilliant band that befits such a response. A couple of others have recommended you react to Pink Floyd’s live performances. I would recommend the Pulse Concert 1994 and in particular the songs ‘Comfortably Numb’, ‘Sorrow’ and ‘High Hopes’ from that concert.
Hello ! don t forget how old this album is ! can t remember the exact year but i remember like it was yesterday , the first day it came out in stores i was there when the store opened and bought Dark side of the moon and rushed home and listened to this vinyl the whole day, a few friends came over and while smoking good hash in my water pipe ....we were.... comfortably numb ! Glad you can understand and appreciate it ! today at 67 years old i am the same ...i was 😎
In 1973 I bought Dark Side of the Moon, and as a devoted rock fan I just skipped all the first four songs, including Time. What a huge mistake I did that time of my life? Now in 2024, ( BTW ) didn’t discover my mistake this late, it happened earlier. The point is, which I hope that all young listeners to this masterpiece taking my advise. Do not select which you like because of it fit to your taste of music, this and all Pink Floyd records should be listen the whole album in one sittings, because they all have life changing sections, and just one missing link could change anybodies life if discovering it to late in their life. Now being 76 yrs old and listening about the tenth thousands time to Time, every words or sentences becoming the absolute truth. Just wanted to say that to the younger generation. Thanks!
If you want to go on another journey like this try the song on the same album "Us and Them"!! Something that is as phenomenal about Pink Floyd's music is their lyrics which are hard-hitting brilliant and deeper than the ocean!!
The track "Time" transitions directly into "The Great Gig in the Sky" with Clare Torry on vocals. TGGITS is possibly the deepest dive into the emotions surrounding Death you will ever hear. Brace yourself. (either original Audio or the later Pulse Concert where 3 different ladies stand in for Clare)
Pink Floyd's creativity started with Syd Barrett, the original founder and leader. He steered Pink Floyd in the direction they went. In later years, Barrett suffered from schizophrenia, and had to be replaced by David Gilmour. Barrett died several years later. The song Wish You Were Here was Pink Floyd's tribute to Barrett.
Assuming this is your first listen to Time, i suggest you listen again but let it run into the Great Gig In The Sky....... 2 very different songs that go together as one song in 2 parts. The Great Gig is the end of our personal TIME.
This song takes you from birth the chimes to death the prayers or magic spell over you coffin first part is bout to about 16 solo is from beginning to about 30 when solo when change is about 50 song is over, is about 65 and the last part is until you die

When you are young LIFE is in front of you, When you get old most of your life is behind you? That;s the meaning of the song

May I suggest that you listen to this song again WITH the lyrics as I feel that you missed the message and meaning of this song.
Tends to be lost on the young, and wasted on the old.
