My friend's first pokemon was pearl and as a young boy he wasn't a very strong reader. He was constantly confused at why the game would keep asking him to put his name in, even though he had already done it at the beginning. One day as an adult he found this old copy of pearl and loaded up his save, only to find that EVERY single pokemon in his party and pc was named "jake".

My favourite part is that was used in Cafe Mix as a dragonite costume name (a dragonair themed apron and cap with wings) and the knowledge that Julia has NO idea that it exists

I just want Drawfee to know that in the official Pokemon manga, Blaine is a Team Rocket defector who was one of the scientists that made Mewtwo! He used his own cells in the process and accidentally transfered some Mewtwo cells to himself, making him biologically connected to Mewtwo (which becomes an infection that gradually takes over his body - an affliction that Entei eventually cures for him, but thats WAY later lol).
He ALSO develops the Master Ball as a means to contain Mewtwo and calm it, eventually forming a partnership with it and becoming its trainer for the majority of the manga! Anyway, yeh he's a slightly insane scientist and also a cool Uncle to Red and hes awesome lol
Also, Lance is so deeply not Just A Guy in the manga and whiplash between that and the game is so fucking funny to me lmao

I was absolutely baffled by them inventing a 'burning building' on cinnabar island and then spent the next 5 minutes talking about how it didn't make sense, but no one questioned whether or not that was part of the games
I mean...there was a building that had been burning, at least...
They're probably thinking of the Pokemon Mansion. It was destroyed by either the Cinnabar Island Volcano or MewTwo, depending on who you ask.

Gary Oak (or at least Blue Oak) DOES have a gym! Giovanni, secret leader of Team Rocket and 8th gym leader, quits at the end of the first game after his entire organization got destroyed by an 11-year-old. In Gen II, Blue is the leader of that gym, instead.
Also, I think Agatha just straight-up dies between Gen I and II.

This is "One Punch Man" from the robot guy's perspective.
Kind of makes me think of Babo from the anime MÄR. He's supposed to be one of the most powerful ÄRMs, what they use to fight with in the show, and he was also the only talking one, being quite independent from Ginta, the protagonist. Babo isn't as powerful as he could be at the beginning and by the time he does become a powerful weapon, him and Ginta get along much better while only playfully fighting on occasion but I think it fits the concept well.
If you've never seen it I recommend it, it's a very charming series. It's a decent Shonen battle anime from the mid 2000s with great character design, a pretty good story, and cool concepts like magical jewelry, called ÄRMS, that transform into a wide variety of weapons and tools, some even being giant monster summons. There's a lot of references to classic fairy tales too such as Wizard of Oz, Jack & the Beanstalk, and Snow White. The evil organization is ranked like chess pieces also, so that's fun. I will mention it is an isekai but it was made well before the over saturation of trash that would come later from that genre.
There is no burning building on Cinnabar Island. I think they are thinking of the Pokémon Mansion, but that isn't on fire.
There's a location in one of them just named "burning mansion", I believe.
It was on fire previously though. That's why it's all ruined when you get there.
Apparently, the burglar trainer class's Japanese name is post-fire burglar. They are only found in the Pokémon mansion and in the cinnabar gym in Kanto. So, there is proof that it was on fire at some point. I didn't know this before doing some research, so I'm not surprised this wasn't well known.

One of my favorite aspects of Blaine as a character is that Gen 2 has a time jump during which Cinnabar Island's volcano erupts...and Blaine just kinda stays there on the burned husk of an island.
I think this is what sponsors mean when they say "In your particular style".
If every youtuber put this much effort into their ad reads, I wouldn't skip them.

This will get buried but it's worth a shot: based on Nathan's comment about "Nathan wants to learn dad joke," how about an episode where you design yourselves as Pokémon and then give yourselves four signature moves that fit your personalities? For example, Julia could have "google random facts" or "lurk," Karina could have "cause chaos" or "gush about blorbo," etc.

A fun fact about Blaine! Despite being just the "silly riddle old man" in the games proper, in most of the spinoff material (like the anime, the Adventures manga, etc) Blaine is an ex-member of Team Rocket and was the lead scientist working on the Mewtwo project.
Probably because he's the only character who's even vaguely scientist-themed, hah.
Also in gen 1 he straight-up just employs burglars in his gym?? For some reason?
Well, that's not quite true. I think it is in fact canon that he was one of the scientists who helped develop Mewtwo. The burned out lab on Cinnabar is where Mewtwo was created, and the still existing lab has a picture of him and Dr. Fuji when they were younger. I don't think Mewtwo and team rocket are connected in the games, though.
Also, the burglar trainers make more sense in the original Japanese, because their name translates to something like "post-fire burglar." So that technically keeps the fire theme, but explains that they're basically looters.
Episode idea:
One artist draws something and the other 3 render it.
Each in their own style, So there's 3 different renders of the same original sketch.
The fact that they use a screenshot from Dr Who for the image of Agatha Christie is very funny to me
