The Penn State football team discovered its fate for the new-look Big Ten conference on Thursday afternoon. The conference released its nine-game slate for the 2024 through 2028 seasons. The re-jigging of the schedule came in response to Washington and Oregon joining the conference in the dissolution of the Pac 12. Reporter Greg Pickel joins the BWI UA-cam channel to discuss the changes that fans need to know for the coming seasons.
We focus mainly on the 2024 and 2025 schedules and break down Penn State’s home and away slate for each year. Pickel highlights the importance of the 2024 season thanks to what he sees ahead for the Nittany Lions.
The most notable aspect of the schedules is that Penn State has no protected rivalry game with any team. The Nittany Lions will face the Ohio State Buckeyes for two years before the Michigan Wolverines cycle back on the schedule.
“The conference handles all the scheduling,” Penn State athletic director Pat Kraft said in July. “James [Franklin] and I laughed, [and said] ‘well, we really are unrivaled. We say it.
“It gets to be a little bit of a political thing, of push and pull, but it is what it is,” Kraft said. “We’ll play whoever. We don’t get to dictate schedules. And it shouldn’t be that way. We’ll line up and play anybody and move on.”
Penn State will still get a trip to Los Angeles next year to face USC instead of the Trojans making the trip to Happy Valley in their first year of conference play. Instead, Penn State will see UCLA on the road.
The video also discusses how the uncertainty of the future and the College Football Playoff could change things for Penn State as well. Finally, we bring the focus back to the 2023 season and discuss why it has such an importance and impact on the short-term future for the Nittany Lions as we collectively head into the new college football landscape.

Breaking down Penn State Football's NEW Big Ten Schedule in 2024 and Beyond
Coach Franklin & the boosters are really going to have to figure out clever ways to pay these players big bucks, if Penn State is going to win this conference now! We can’t even beat Michigan & Ohio St in the same season
12 team playoff probably lots of 10-2 even 9-3 teams making playoffs
Sorry, not sorry, but psu won't beat Michigan this year either.
@@James-mm6jh ...because.... Michigan has played, who?
I was hoping USC would be the Whiteout game in 2024, but 2026 will be awesome. The Big 10 does a wonderful job of scheduling with it's flex model and nine games. Will the Big 10's media partners (Fox Sports/BTN, NBC Sports, and CBS Sports) want the Big 10 to move to 10 games in 2024?
My take with their new schedule is a clear cop out of taking an L or 2 L’s every year against UM and or OSU.
What?? Breaking news that isn't explosive play related?? 😳😳
🙄🙄
I'm too tired to think of a breaking news/explosive play joke. But it's there somewhere. T-Frank
I hear that. You guys do good work. I usually burn out on all the whiners at about this time of the season, and make cynical jokes.
Thanks for all you do.
👍👍👍👍
Losing Curtis Jacobs too .. 6 off of the defense in 2024
I didn't want to go down the rabbit hole, but he was the other one I was thinking of. Good shout on that. T-Frank
More in the pipeline, friends.
