Mexicans have a right to their land and their nation. They can run it how they see fit. If killing you and/or scaring you by pointing guns at your face is how they do it, and you have a problem with that... Then don't go there. That simple. But beware, Mexico is how it is because their nation is a representation of their psyche. Import them, and you'll get the same here.

even if you have a family member I wouldn't recommend it, and I'm Mexican. This guy is the nephew of a friend, (I say guy but he was like 15). He's from Chicago and went to visit family near the city my mom is from. He stayed with some family members, but I guess some family were too excited and it became known that the dude was gonna arrive there from the US. Well, he got there and was fine for a few days, but then he got kidnapped when he was with his family shopping and got shoved into a car to who knows where. Then the kidnappers called his family from Mexico and demanded his family in the US give them a few thousand dollars in a few days or they would kill him. Thankfully the dude's family was able to get the money rly fast and they were able to get him back. The same thing happened but to this other lady in my mom's town except her kid was 4.
Tbh it could've been someone that knew the dude's family and planned to kidnap him.

This is why tourists should never take it upon themselves to explore outside of the usual touristy stuff or always have a local tour guide that knows the land with you. I’m Filipino but grew up in America but still speak my native language and even I wouldn’t just go out exploring on my own in the the backwoods of the Philippines. If they see a car they don’t recognize or is suspicious they’ll stop you and question you. Honestly I’m glad they didn’t drive off, that would have sent the wrong message.
