I've watched quite a few of the Giselle ballet on UA-cam and this one I just love the dancing girls costumes. The colors are enchanting and the way they fade they fit the background they're beautiful.
Mariinsky Ballet in St. Petersburg is the world's oldest ballet ensemble, founded in 1738 - some 30 years older than the Bolshoi in Moscow. Known during the Soviet era as The Kirov Ballet, it - like the Bolshoi - was also an export of Soviet soft power abroad. Being the Imperial Russian Ballet and due to its closeness to Europe, the ensemble might have had more continental influences than its Moscow counterpart. It's a pity that I just see excerpts of "Giselle", I would have loved to watch the whole piece, performed by this outstanding ensemble.
Ballet came to the Russians via the French, who in turn were influenced by the Italian Renaissance courts of the 15th century. So the oldest company is the Paris Opéra Ballet, which was founded in 1669. I believe the Mariinsky is next, followed by the Royal Danish in 1748, with the Royal Swedish slightly older than the Bolshoi.
You are both wonderful, very expressive, expression to me is most important thing in ballet, of course good technique is necessary to make it perfect but technique alone with no expression tome is not ballet. Bravo!
I love how the way she follows thru with and fluidly flows her momentum. It is both beautiful and ghostlike, as it should be. It creates such a marvelously cool effect. Musical interpretation wonderful. She is very clean, graceful and appropriately zombielike...light in the right way, heavy/dead in the right way. My only 2 issues are 1. that she seems to lead with the top of her head too much, creating too much of an angle in her neck...and also making the angles of her head motion to wide and chaotic. It breaks the continuous curve of her spine and the big movements of her head is also a really big distraction to me. 2. Even if she is a zombie, maybe there could be a hair more of a sense of sadness and a hair less of roboticness?? I dont know...
I also hope tgecwar will end abd he can return to tge marinsky abd Russia as he was cery happy there i was dusapoointed withe response frim the royal ballet

This performance promoted Xander Parish to principle at the marinsky
Хоть Не Видела Живой Балет Считала Верх Физического Развития и Эмоционального Это Балет. !!!!!!!!!❤
The dancing and acting converted Xander Parish into a principal dancer
He owes his success in ballet to Russia.

Such a shame xander parish fir the war had to leave the marinsky they heloed to make. Him a star
We don't hear any news of him
Xander must feel lost without the marinsky inhope he does not forfit his career
He is a principal with the Norwegian State Ballet in Oslo a good interview about his journey there is on the Dance Europe you tube channel.
Why is the music so slow? Strange...
Ana Finn, Russians like it slow :-), unless it's Natalia Osipova.
Грубая, резкая, натужная техничность у терешкиной, не для этой роли
I hope Xander will return to Mariinsky
