    Not to speak about long-term durability, but it feels like coffee, as an industry, is moving towards high-tech machines like the Decent. The ability to have someone send you a tailored profile that pushes the boundaries of flavour, and to have it be perfect in its replication, is quite the appeal.

      The coffee industry as a whole has so many different needs and wants. The Decent does answer to a segment of the industry, and is an awesome machine. We have sold the Decent range of accessories since their start, and I'm a fan of the project.

      I have an LM and never really considered Decent. Good machine, I know, but I appreciate the looks and bulletproof build of the LM, as well as the old school experience and power. Like a manual transmission air cooled Porsche vs Tesla.

    A more apples to apples comparison would be the Arduino vs the GS3. I feel if you buy the Mini you want the best quality of a machine you can get and a very analog experience and the lack of bells and whistles especially for the price point is of little or no concern to you but you get a consistent shot every single time. If you are buying the Arduino or GS3 clearly you want more features

    I REALLY like the water tank setup on my Linea Mini. Part of the reason why I chose it. I do really like the mixing valve on the Eagle One though!

    • @CoffeePartsTV
      @CoffeePartsTV  2 роки тому +1

      The tank positioning on the LM's really works well, especially in kitchens with low cupboards or when using machines at markets with plenty of cups on top. It is however hards to clean out than the top mounted ones like the Prima.
      Hot water mix valves should be standard on all machines!!!

    I've had my replacement Eagle One for nearly a week and it is producing amazing coffee.
    Given the price of the Eagle One, to have a machine replaced before having it even plugged in was disappointing to say the least. However Victoria Arduino Australia were fantastic to deal with and they were regularly in contact with me to keep me up to date with the replacement machine. Highly recommend their service.
    Even though the Eagle One has a hefty price and the blurb about them starts with "Uncompromising quality", my machine still has some of the traditional "Italian" build characteristics. Wiping the drip tray to remove water drops usually requires the drip tray to be properly pushed in again. It is super easy to knock out of alignment. The drip tray cover is gorgeous but doesn't sit flat. It rocks from front left to back right and makes a little clunk each time. Neither characteristic is overly annoying but they do constantly remind me that this machine was built by the people who struggle to get their towers straight.
    The volumetric controls on the Eagle One are easy to set up in the app and are super accurate. Having the app to control various functions on the machine is so much easier than pressing multiple buttons for various times to program the machine. The cloud recipes were also a great help to dial in my coffee doses when first using the machine. My only real issue with the app is that it has to manually connect to the machine each time it is activated, it doesn't remember the previous connection. Hopefully this is something that can be improved on with future app updates.
    The steam on the Eagle One is crazy compared to my old machine. A quick purge of the wand and then a flick of the lever to get milk milk steamed and frothed in hardly any time at all. A small jug of milk for a couple of piccolo lattes literally took 10 seconds. Things haven't happened that quickly since I was a teenager! The cool touch steam wand is very easy to clean and also very easy to burn yourself with if you do dumb things with the final purge. Cold water helped a lot though.
    The espresso shots from the Eagle One are just fantastic. With my old machine, most coffees were milk based but the Eagle One has me pulling more espresso's than ever. And they are the shots that look like something from a professional's UA-cam video and have your mouth watering while they are running.
    One issue with the Eagle One is that there doesn't seem to be an automatic shut off when the water runs low in the tank. You can probably guess how I found that out. Unfortunately the wife won't let me drill a hole in the bench top so keeping an eye on the water levels is a constant thing now as the tank goes down surprisingly quickly.
    Another issue I have found is snagging the lever for the hot water pretty regularly while reaching for a cup on top of the machine. The first time was a total surprise but its something I'm getting used to.
    Overall though it has taken 6 days to go from something that I regretted ordering to something that I can't wait to use as many times a day as possible. Sure it has its quirks, but OMG, that espresso!!

    • @CoffeePartsTV

      Most of the settings can still be set via the display on the group screen, and VA is a massive company with huge amounts of machines out globally if you include the commercial units. As such, I don't see this being an issue.

      Oh my... another person in the anglo saxon world referring to that "italian" build mumbo jumbo in 2022... at this point I believe anglo saxons just like to repeat the same words over the decades... Iwonder if something made the exact same way but coming out of Australia would still have "italian build" issues... I guess i'll be reading this stuff in 40 years too, when anglo saxon descendants will buy things made in italy by african or chinese companies in case they replace us completely.

    I was considering the Eagle One, but I have read/seen reviews of several owners with problems within a year or so of ownership ... not good. I LOVE the styling of the E1, but that would be quickly eclipsed if I got a problem machine, that said I am leaning towards the LM Mini....pretty bullet proof machine, and the styling is classic, clean and simple. thanks again! 👍🏻

      I have read the online of customer having issues, yet I believe it has been on early models and all now resolved. We haven't had many issues, yet in Australia they are all bench tested pre-delivery. Do like the Eagle One.
      In saying that, the LM has been super stable, and also do like them!

    i have been waiting for a comparison and kudos to you pedro for doing one with your usual flair and class. upgrading from a high-end HX, it will either be the ECM synchronika or one of these but i have trawled the forums and social media and it would seem although the LM is the "simpler" machine it is also the more reliable and robust machine with numerous breakdowns and warranty claims from the VA. any truth?

    • @CoffeePartsTV
      @CoffeePartsTV  2 роки тому +2

      Thank you for your kind words.
      LM is solid, they have constantly improved their Linea since its launch in 2015, and a lot of it was based on the Linea Classic which is now super tested and stable. So from that sense LM really are well built and reliable. They have also one of the best service networks globally.
      VA are using a little more electronics, yet most of which like solenoids in the hot water and steam are common items which are super stable and well tested. The NEO head is however newer.
      From our sales data, both machine have been awesome, and warranty claims super super low. So to answer your question, the Linea does have more years of data and is a simpler machine, so from that aspect maybe better. Yet, the Prima has not been an issue for us so far...

    I’m not sure that comparing these two machines is actually that relevant tbh, I’d have thought the AV GS3 was the direct competitor to the Eagle, the Linea Mini is long overdue for an update, I don’t think just making it app friendly is really enough to justify its price given the competition. Great review. Was looking forward to this ... figured it would happen 🙂. One thing though ... I don't think the Eagle One Prima is based on the Black Eagle but, rather, the Eagle One (which has multiple group heads). I would really love to see Victoria Arduino provide a single group machine based on the Black Eagle Gravimetric. That would be an easy choice for me. For now ... I'd go the Eagle One Prima over the Linea Mini ... knowing that I'd have to plumb it in to get the best experience.

As I see it you are getting more with the prima but there are some introduction issues whereas the mini is more basic but has a well established reliability. You can control more with the prima such as pressure but you say the apps are similar ?

    • @CoffeePartsTV
      @CoffeePartsTV  2 роки тому +2

      Truth is, they are both awesome machines, and I would be happy with either machine at home.
      It's hard to choose a winner as such as it would depend on what someone wants out of a machine. I have a soft spot for La Marzocco, and have owned and like, the Linea Home. The LM is more established in the home market as its now a few years old (released 2015). However, the VA has really done an awesome job at putting together a really neat machine. And, it's a machine I may soon take and make my home machine for a bit.
      The apps are super similar from a work flow perspective and UX design. You can control more with the VA as it has more items which are controlled via the app such as steam and hot water settings. Yet, the actually app functionality is similar.

    Absolutely hate the age old Hollywood gimmick of thinking background music adds anything of value to your presentation. It's unnecessary and distracting. Also hate the old 1980's video presentation gimmick of cutting away to a second camera angle where the presenter is looking off to the side and not at the audience. Very annoying. (TIP: Find a new, younger videographer and/or discourage him or her to loose the unnecessary off angle shot). Hard to believe some people are making videos like this. Know what you are saying a out the music..why do people feel they need to have this during a presentation..at least this one was at a low level ...very good other wise ....Prima looks like a nice upgrade, but would be concerned about reliability but more to the point user diagnosing availability of parts and user reliability.. like my probably 10 old IZZO duetto not something you can just pop round the corner to a repair shop or a local handy man can sort, the logistics getting it somewhere would cost the lions share of what the machine is worth so these big specialists items do need to behome serviceable be everything on the Duetto is standard stock parts that can be sent off for that anybody with a bit patience can install ..not so sure about these more exotic and more electronic machines

    Mate, you seriously skipped on discussing the 'heart' of the machines - the Mini has a 'Thermoblock' system - not a traditional boiler - HX system, as on traditional machines... I'm not a huge fan at all... in fact, it's like paying $5,000 USD for basically a Breville-type Espresso Machine. You gotta step up to the GS-3, if you want a 'real' 'Mini' Marzocco. If you don't have really pure water going into the Mini (say 80 TDS or below) you will be screwed at some point,, as the Thermoblock will get clogged and the repair is a Bastard to perform. Come on Mate - gotta do better! Save all of your money and get a Bezzera Duo DE - spend 1/2 the price of these 2 machines and have incredible performance and quality

    Will there ever be a super high end machine like these for the home with automatic temp controlled steam wand. I feel like those do just as good if not better than manual steam wands and the industry needs to move forward from manual. It’s just so much faster to be able hit the steam and go do the rest of the coffee work.
