Can we just take a moment to appriciate this young man's acting chops? I don't think I have ever seen an actor go some convincingly from insane anger to cool, calculating venom-filled hatred. His interpretation of the Penguin is the best, most believable, most convincing ever
Robin Lord Taylor is definitely one of the breakout actors from this show, I remember before Jérôme showed up, all people could talk about when it came to *Gotham* was Penguin. I started to watch the show after the episode with Jérôme was aired ("The Blind Fortune Teller") and the clip of Cameron Monaghan killing it as "Proto-Joker" was the new badass clip on youtube for Batman fans... Thankfully I decided to wait until S1 was over, so I could binge it. It's weird seeing you call Mr Taylor a "young man", as he is almost 44 right now, which means that in the third season of *Gotham* he was 38/39... not exactly an old man, but not a young one either. But he looks so juvenile, the role really suited him. Before this show I had seen him in a few small roles, and he was always blonde (he's also blonde in the 2022 episodes of Law & Order in which he plays a new recurring villain, Sebastian McCLane) It was nice to see him with black hair again in John Wick 3, wish he had more scenes in that movie. I love how so many DC actors had difficult beginnings in the small/big screen, but thanks to their roles in various DC movies they went from rags to riches, from nobodies to recognized stars. David Dastmalchian is a perfect example, before he got his very first role in cinema a Thomas Schiff in "The Dark Knight", he was living in his car and had a pretty expensive heroin addiction. But people loved him in that short role, and DC brought him back as another Joker henchman in *Gotham* , then as Abra Kadabra in *The Flash* (season 3 & 7), as Calender Man in "The Long Halloween", as Polkda Dot Man in "The Suicide Squad", etc etc Can't wait for Chris Nolan's *Oppenheimer* , with Cillian Murphy as James Robert Oppenheimer, and Gary Oldman & David Dastmalchian in other roles, it feels a bit like a Dark Knight trilogy reunion ^^ (and I'm probably missing some actors)
@@randallflagg3700 Lol. Im 65, he IS a young man! But I would love to see more of him in the kind of dramatic role that made Gotham great. The amazing chemistry between RLT and Corey Micheal Smith absoluted smoldered AND burned! I love the alternate history vibe in Gotham.....great acting made it so believable
@@madamvaudelune3298 - Haha, fair enough then, ch-re madame! Their chemistry was indeed brillant, and I was not overly surprised when Corey Michael Smith came out after the show ended ;) Brilliant actors, the both of them!
Jim was constantly doing Oswald wrong ... Like, Penguin lied for him about a murder, always helped him out and in return got branded as the horrible criminal who needed to be locked away.
You can argue that he's killed people and has committed other horrible crimes but Barbra literally did the same thing. Jim literally would've helped him if he liked him. 😐
@@loieblossom6777 for a tv show, I'd say the majority of Oswald's victims deserved what they got., for instance(Spoiler alert)- I liked Tabitha , but she killed Penguins mother and would be alive still, had she not. He murdered his stepfamily, but they killed his father and treated him badly. He killed that one guy at the table when they were being forced to eat human, but that dude was ok with Martin dying simply because he's an orphan, IMO he had it coming. That guy that gave him a ride was bullying him and making fun of how he walked, which doesn't justify murder but if he had just been nicer he wouldn't have gotten chived in the neck with a beer bottle. Like when Oswald kills people who wronged him and mostly deserve it, it's sooo bad, but Jim does it and It's just 👌 okie dokie
@@NadiaAburouman I want to piggyback off of this because I want to point this out (this is kind of unrelated) but why was EVERYONE mad at Ed for getting Jim arrested? Sure, he’s not completely innocent himself but they were literally fine with Oswald being sent to Arkham for Galavan so why not have the same energy with Jim? They BOTH played a part in Galavan dying (at least the first time). This is why I think Jim and the other “good” characters are the biggest hypocrites on the show and why they’re not on my list for favourite characters.
@@shanshajahan8160 he's like he is because of how society has treated him. Oswald isn't emotionless and most of his actions have reason. The people he cheated deserved it. He nice asf to Jim and Jim was an ungrateful asshole and also a major hypocrite, how does he get to kill someone and then call Penguin a horrible criminal??

Oh come on. This penguin is a bloody con-man.
Lets not forget how he rose to the top of crime world in the first place.
By cheating everyone!!!!!

oswald’s singing is beautiful
Robin Lord Taylor must have acquired severe problems on his spine, after constantly carrying this whole show on his back.
