This is great self-defense training actually. Now I know how to defend myself from an elderly man with arthritis swinging around a butter knife. Thanks so much Dale!
This cop dude is 100% on point. At first, it seems impossible, but if you just grind the Hollow Warriors in the Undead Burg for a couple hours, you'll learn the parry timing.
His opponents are also made out of papier maché it seems. You wouldn't be able to simply curl your arm so easily if someone without severe muscular atrophy was holding you wrist down with both hands.
He goes for the eyes to and does it sometimes while his opponent is on full balance so there's a good chance the guy is just gonna back up instead of falling backwards
This is a perfect example of why UA-cam needs dislikes. Imagine someone impressionable sees this video in their recommended because of the views and can’t see how heavily disliked his videos likely are it could be potentially really dangerous.
As someone who actually took a self defense course, one rule we were told is never let them take you to the ground in a scuffle. It’s much harder to defend yourself, so the fact this dude is trying to teach a body throw by falling to the ground is just dangerous.
I followed the last videos advice and I'm still in a subway, running in a circles pushing guys into each other! I've been doing this for 3 days and I can't stop!
I love that all his videos end up with "increase your survivability" , Because he knows you will die if you do this in real life & he's avoiding future law suits
@@Realisticskate Not really. You need someone to do them to you with the intent to kill. When it’s just practice they are always holding back and won’t do what a man would do in a real fight, headbutts, knees to the crotch, breaking the nose, gouging the eyes, or if they have a gun, blowing you away as soon as you move.
The saddest part for me is seeing the thousands of people in the comments thanking him for the good techniques. I live right by Detroit and I guarantee that if anyone tries this they'll just become another murder statistic
Thief: *Has a rocket launcher* Man: “So if you push the thumb towards him, the launcher will be aimed toward your roof. These will save your lives, you just don’t know it.”
This guy's self defense lessons actually work. I was being jumped one night in a dark alley by at least six assailants. Right before they started mercilessly beating me, I managed to navigate my way towards the outside and started circle strafing around them. They were so concerned over how mentally insane I looked that they called 911 on me and held me down until the police got there. This intelligent option can improve your survivability and save your life.
"There's no such thing as honor when you're trying to survive." True advice from Charlie, fellow ladies and all, go for the dong, go for the jugular, claw at the eyes, if anything, when you get free with your life and dignity, I feel like that'd be more honorable.
I agree. Don’t stop at “clawing at the eyes,” though. If you’re under attack, put their eyes out. Shove your thumb inside and scoop it out. Another thing, one tip that actually saved my life: Available weapon. Throw something heavy at their head. Anything heavy can be a weapon.
As a martial arts practitioner I think the most treacherous problem with Dale and his self defense tips is that a lot of his stuff is kind of based on real stuff you learn in ju-jutsu, aikido, krav maga etc. The principles behind some of the joint manipulations, takedowns, eye gouging and such are solid, tried and tested, but the problem is that none of these techniques are the end-all-be-all maneuvers that will save you from every situation and even more importantly, can be learned by just watching a 30 second long video. All of these techniques need a lot of practice and stress testing in order to work properly in a threatening situation and in a lot of situations you won't be attacked by a mannequin that doesn't react to whatever you're doing or as you said - get their nervous system shut down by you just touching their face. These techniques work perfectly on a mat against a cooperative opponent who really doesn't try to hurt you. They could work if executed by a properly trained professional under near to optimal circumstances on an unsuspecting opponent. They definitely won't work by someone who's being attacked and decides to try a cool technique they once saw on a video on UA-cam. I suppose it's still better than doing nothing, but not by a long margin. If you really want to learn to defend yourself, you need practice.
Its really not as good as doing nothing in many situations though because if they were just going to threaten you, engaging them is not a good idea. Especially if you're trying some technique you just saw on UA-cam.
@@wellshit9489 yeah, I think that's a good point. If you're not actively being attacked, it's not a good idea to take any stupid risks like that. If you can get away by complying, that should be your first action regardless
@@Zagge and if you do need to fight Krav Maga is one of the better martial arts to learn. There's a reason the IDF teaches it. Love that this guy thinks fight choreography equates to fight techniques. He probably tells the partner demonstrator “no not that way come at me like this so I can deflect it like this”
All his attackers are like frozen manikins that fall over with the slightest tough. The hip toss one the guy wouldn’t have even moved in a real situation the way he was holding him.
I’ve been wrestling for 7 years and watching these unarmed takedowns are so painful. You can make videos about what’s wrong with everything he’s doing that are 5x longer than the actual videos. It’s as if he’s going against a paralyzed man who will not react at anything you do.
There was this one guy who was like a master martial artist and was going to show the best technique to use against someone with a sword, then he started running in the other direction.
I mean only situation when you must fight someone with weapon is when you are out of other options. In that case it is best to go for vital points .For example nuts, groin , head and stuff like that. In case they have gun don t fight at all it isn t worth it. You have better chance of running from it and getting shot than fighting someone with gun.
@@Mrdinomist True, one or two body shots is often survivable, a bullet to the brain typically isn’t. Running and making yourself hard to hit us the best option.
@@rorybottorff6523 i would probably just do some random shit and try to survive somehow as i don’t have professional self defence training.Still i think most of techniques showed in this video are worse than random stuff. Cause they are too slow and too precise( no room for errors)
To be fair, a person wielding a knife doesn't have very much range. If you were to perform a Dark Souls roll, and managed to do it properly, it would buy you a couple of much needed seconds to pull out a firearm and shoot them. This operates under the assumption that you have a firearm on you, and know how to use it.
The best option when confronted by a criminal is to run away. The worst option is to stand there and cry out, thereby aggravating them. If you can't run, and you don't plan on letting them kill you, then fighting them isn't a bad option.

Not only does this guy think his reaction time will be faster than a guy with his finger on the trigger with the barrel pointed directly at him. But half the "disarming techniques" still have the barrel pointed at some part of his body. He would be hamburger meat in nearly all real life scenarios.
I guess it really relies on the fact that its usually a pretty safe bet that a criminal isn't ready to kill you. However you really shouldn't be forcing them to make the decision especially if they get worried you'd try to use the gun against them.
@@solarfreak1107 Body armor is usually designed to take hits from bullets that have been fired from quite a distance. @@AlterExo_ I agree with your statement, but my point is in a scenario like this, it's best to maximize surviving. I guess I also imagine mass shootings/stabbings involved. @@solarfreak1107 Yeah, I agree, though idk if BPV will stop a full force knife thrust but it is better than nothing. Maybe just having a vest on will make someone more prone to attacking one or two areas of your body instead of your torso that contains all your squishy bits.
This guy is criminally irresponsible. He should go to jail. That dropping a bigger enemy video is absurd. NEVER throw yourself to the ground, if you're on the ground you've already lost the fight. Hell, the fact you have to be near them means he's expecting the dumbasses to advance on the person and risk them blowing the other person's brains out even more so.
Dale's knife tactics assume that the other person gives up the moment they're at all injured; it's like he goes out of his way to expose himself. I don't trust anyone who gives advice other than "run away" when it comes to a knife fight.

funnily enough, it is legit. Its not something to teach average people though because A) they have no coordination and B) shitty timing. Somebody that hasnt practiced these moves thousands of times would fuck it up easily and get hurt, but the information isnt wrong
@@Neon1880 the reason they aren't legit is well let me say yea sure it is legit in the sense the moves do help control movement and yes you would have to train for awhile but you are also trying for an exact scenario to happen when most of the time you won't know what someone will do. Training reflexes actually are counter intuitive because you aren't only practice your moves but you're moves in response to a move from someone else . So you get in a surprise fight and let's say this is the most honorable attacker ever and he doesn't just bash you in the back of the head before you even know he there. It's not like he's going to announce " I'm striking over hand in three seconds followed up by a right hook" reflexes only really work if it's instinct. I’d like to see him defend against a T90 MBT. He’d be like. “So what you wanna do is this: Catch the 125mm AP shell, just like it’s a football. It’s only travelling at 900m/S so it should be easy to react to the slow moving armour piercing round. Then what you gotta do is throw it back but aim at the turret ring, it’s common knowledge that this is the T90’s weak point. And that is exactly how you defend from a Russian main battle tank if one ever catches you off guard on the streets.”
That's probably one of his next videos. It wouldn't surprise me at this point, after we've defeated every other weapon.. knife, gun, he's told us everything except how to "increase survivability" in case of heavy artillery. I happen to know best way, sadly from experience: learn to run zigzag very fast.. but I'm sure Dale will learn us better shit. 😁
What you do is you open your third eye , close your eyes and listen for the trigger , you take the time that it took to trigger the gun and multiply it by your distance , after the bullet is shot , you wait for the amount of seconds you calculated and catch the bullet with your teeth , EZ clap gg

The problem with Dales videos is that all his workers are too fearful of the immense amount of superhuman power and superhuman reflexes Dale has to fight properly so it comes off as acting when in fact, Dale is just way too strong
I've taken multiple self defense classes and all of them come down to one point. 9 times out of 10, it's better to run, if you're not armed. the best thing for self defense is to have a firearm and consistently train and be proficient. be safe guys and girls🤙
Even if you're armed, the best thing for self defence is to comply and then run. If someone wants your wallet then toss it away from yourself and run in the opposite direction
Dale never loses. He never plays the role of the agressor who gets taken down. This is because he knows if his dumb audience sees him lose, they will subconsciously see it as weakness, and the kind of person who sees this sort of video and pays attention to it, are the kind of people who hate any perceived weeakness, especially physical.
At this point I just think Dale is doing this to entertain himself, like he was bored at home and he's like "honey...I'm going back to training mode!" and goes to the academy to make TikToks and grab beers with the boys

My boyfriend worked for these guys for a little bit and they’re quite the characters, for example: 1. They use the NATO phonetic alphabet, but changed some of the “lame ones” (ie Charlie to Cobra) 2. Their jobs are to de escalate a situation first, and call the police afterward 3. Splinter Cell itfa tactical gear 4. Weekly combat training so that they could learn to defend themselves without a gun 5. When they’re in trouble and there are other Vipers in the room, they do this hilarious chant while pointing in the direction of the threat 6. They’re literally called Vipers
The Vipers are security guards (primarily) for celebrities and politicians in Detroit, and one time Nicki Minaj hired them and ended up using them in the music video Out of My Mind, bc they looked more outrageous than the actors lol
cobra is more likely to be confused with kilo, november, and whatnot than charlie is i'm assuming this is used in telecommunications because why use it when you're just talking unless it's ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL you're read right...but you also have time to use NATO PA why not just use it as-is lol to confuse people? if you're saying fucking, lima mike november, it won't be hard to understand what `cobra` means oh wait the reason is they think it's cool well they'll think it was pretty not cool when it got confused for K, N, etc due to a poor signal
Definitely should get the guys together to recreate these without the attacker pulling punches, just... maybe with dry erase markers instead of knives, and squirt guns or something.

I agree with Charlie when it comes to being held by the hair, kick them in the testes, or better yet, just punch them in the mouth. Odds are, if they're close enough to hold you, you're within arm's length of them
I completely agree. If someone grabbed me by the hair my first response would be to hit them, I'd probably aim for the throat tho. They will most likely let go if you hit them where it hurts.
@@neztech. I am trained in martial arts, I would not hit them hard enough to kill them. However, that is a good point. Still, as my instructor says, I will do what it takes to make sure I go home to my family.
The most effective way to disarm an attacker is to not get attacked. If someone wants to fight, run, if they’re mugging you give up your stuff and run to the police station
The main difference between Dale “Warmaster” Brown and the judo guy with the hip toss, is you’ll notice the judo instructor drives his hips back into the guy he is tossing, this is what breaks their base and allows you to force them over your hip, whereas of course in the curious case of Dale Brown there is no drive of the hips backwards to actually allow you to toss the opponent. I guess we aren’t all blessed with Dales superhuman strength. 😂😂😂 There is a similar throw in martial arts called a suicide throw which is somewhat similar to what dales technique is…well the main difference being the suicide throw actually works although it does have its risks and isn’t something I’d ever recommend in a self defence situation with a bigger opponent. As someone else commented, You NEVER want to go to the ground with someone who is much physically larger than you.
Next he's gonna teach you how to do a backflip at the perfect timing when two attackers are pointing a gun at you so that they shoot themselves and then how to throw your Detroit Urban Survival Training tool at a pressure point on the rooftop sniper posted nearby in order to disable him improving your survivability if you ever encountered that situation.
4:02 as a wrestler, I hate this. The "throw" would never work, if anything you ate just gonna pull him onto of you. Also people don't engage street fights by locking up unless they are familiar with grappling.
the “hands free knife disarm” one is actually decently useful and definitely a lot better, cause you’re keeping your upper body away to kick them in the knee, instead of doing some fucking anime move where you shove your arm in their attacking space and the larger attacker one is kinda true, if you’re struggling to hold them back you can quickly drop down and you pulling them + the force they are pushing could knock them down. should you try it in the real world with a way bigger guy? no, but someone around your size. it’s common in wrestling
ya the kicking reminded me of Muay Thai guard stance when you want to keep distance you kick your opponent knee, but that doesn't make them flop like a fucking doll like that dumbass showed in the video, it hurts but you don't lose balance
Unless the larger attacker just falls on you then you're pinned under someone trying to beat your ass. Not worth the risk unless you're trained, and if you're trained you won't need this technique.
@@JohnGenericName Yes "It's common in wrestling" Except wrestlers spar with live resistance for hundreds of hours with explosive movement. They don't flop to the ground and hope the bigger guy jumps over them.

11:35 is the perfect example of how sloppy Dale is when it comes to actually locking and pinning someone. Let's say in a hypothetical world, the move to take the guy down *actually* worked. He's on the ground, and for some unfathomable reason Dale decides to keep both hands on the guys hand. One of the most important things when getting a lock is to ALSO lock the elbow - it's how you get a solid armbar, and you can still put pressure on the wrist if they try wiggling out. A locked elbow will make bending that wrist all the more painful, and give you some level of control. It won't work all the time, especially if the other person is significantly stronger than you, but any competent and reasonably fit person can keep a good armbar that gives you enough control to even break or dislocate said arm if things don't deescalate once theyre on the ground. This is all of course assuming you could even get someone on the ground in the first place with such a flimsy throw. Dale didn't even have a solid base with his legs.
"How to take control of your attacker. First, you have to go to Thunder Grove and complete the quest line given by Lord Magi to get the specialisation skill. If you're a Dark Mage, you can use your third skill to do so."
These are some of the best 'never once ever' situations i've ever seen. All (and I mean ALL) of these self defense videos will only work if you are a literal inch away from someone, they have the moves and reflexes of a 1960s robot, and they have lost all motor function.
These techniques definitely work! Just do it like Dale and set the other person to .75 speed so the speed of their actions and reaction time is that of a toddler. Finding the playback speed option on your opponent will help you increase your survivability!

"Theres no such thing as honor when you're trying to survive."
That's a hell of a quote

Training reflexes actually are counter intuitive because you aren't only practice your moves but you're moves in response to a move from someone else . So you get in a surprise fight and let's say this is the most honorable attacker ever and he doesn't just bash you in the back of the head before you even know he there. This advice would only be useful if your opponent was moving at 4 frames per second.
Jesus Christ UA-cam how hard can it really be to stop bot comments

These worked so wonders against my siblings in a nerf war. Would recommend using them against your siblings
So happy to see people calling this guy out.
Always pissed me off to see this guy showing his fake techniques off like he's tough.
He probably is a legitimate martial artist. But it’s dangerous to teach people these techniques in minute long videos. You have to train in person with a real martial artist. These videos will do nothing for you.
@@iamnotthatguy7166 His techniques are a joke, the dude would get himself killed if he ever used them in a real scenario.
@@vahlen5281 some of them are legitimate. They could actually work BUT you need to train with a partner for months and months in order for them to be even remotely effective in a real situation.
I agree with Charlie when it comes to being held by the hair, kick them in the testes, or better yet, just punch them in the mouth. Odds are, if they're close enough to hold you, you're within arm's length of them
Not mouth, the nose, at most you'll get hurt by the teeth unless you hit them with an object
I completely agree. If someone grabbed me by the hair my first response would be to hit them, I'd probably aim for the throat tho. They will most likely let go if you hit them where it hurts.
@@astraeatheapus3647 not a good idea to hit someones throat hard since you could accidentally kill them by crushing their windpipe
@@neztech. I am trained in martial arts, I would not hit them hard enough to kill them. However, that is a good point. Still, as my instructor says, I will do what it takes to make sure I go home to my family.
@@astraeatheapus3647 good luck if you believe people's chin aren't in the way like in your gym lol
The most effective way to disarm an attacker is to not get attacked. If someone wants to fight, run, if they’re mugging you give up your stuff and run to the police station
What if you're disabled and you can't run? The real answer is to always stay strapped
Looks like he was going for a Lateral Drop which is a wrestling technique but I could be wrong.
"Suicide drop" yh i dont think its safe either
I love how Charlie's thumbnails are so simple yet immediately recognizeable.
Also people don't engage street fights by locking up unless they are familiar with grappling.
the “hands free knife disarm” one is actually decently useful and definitely a lot better, cause you’re keeping your upper body away to kick them in the knee, instead of doing some fucking anime move where you shove your arm in their attacking space
and the larger attacker one is kinda true, if you’re struggling to hold them back you can quickly drop down and you pulling them + the force they are pushing could knock them down. should you try it in the real world with a way bigger guy? no, but someone around your size. it’s common in wrestling
ya the kicking reminded me of Muay Thai guard stance when you want to keep distance you kick your opponent knee, but that doesn't make them flop like a fucking doll like that dumbass showed in the video, it hurts but you don't lose balance
Unless the larger attacker just falls on you then you're pinned under someone trying to beat your ass. Not worth the risk unless you're trained, and if you're trained you won't need this technique.
@@JohnGenericName Yes
"It's common in wrestling"
Except wrestlers spar with live resistance for hundreds of hours with explosive movement. They don't flop to the ground and hope the bigger guy jumps over them.
@@370joon123 These videos aren't geared toward trained wrestlers with hundreds of hours of sparring experience. For the average joe, this is a bad technique.

Well, which one is it, Charles??

"Don't follow this advice."
Charlie, If you haven't gave us this warning, then still no one would've followed this advice.

Anyone watching again after he met Dale?
Charlie acts like he has exactly 28 dollars and 13 cents in his bank account
I think dale forgets that when people point a gun at u or have a hostage they typically dont let u stand 2 feet in front of them
All these moves are only effective against “attackers” who won’t do anything about it
The best technique is just buy some good quality, full body medieval armour, works 99% of the time, unless your opponent is using a gun.
