If just Mendelssohn would have lived a couple of years longer and would have been able to complete ’Christus’, the work surely would have been equal to ’St. Paul’ and ’Elijah’ in its length and artistic quality. Now there are only a couple of finished movements so the work remains as a torso; no sketches or partly completed movements have been discovered for the remainder movements and for the third part, ’Resurrection’. This is a superb performance and excellent sound quality, too!

Der erfahrene Dirigent leitet das ausgezeichnete Orchester im gut phrasierten Tempo und mit möglichst effektiver Dynamik. Echt hörenswert!
