This channel is a ‘how-to’ channel, trail footage is a future consideration. Thanks for the suggestion though, will pass it on.

Don’t you need similar spacer plates for the other 2 connection points of the crash bar?

Good question. When I originally looked at the bars on the bike, I was expecting that I would need to make spacers for the the other mount points but upon measuring and refitting of the bars, there was no significant change in position of the forward and upper mounting points when the 5mm spacer was placed at the lower mount. There is an amount of 'flex' or 'springiness' contained within each bar which also helps if required. By all means, fitting spacers behind all mount points cannot hurt but there is absolutely no need to. Thanks for watching the video.

What crash bars do you have?
    Thanks in advance

I have the stock bars that came on the Adventure. They are more than adequate for my needs as the bike is set up for a specific task that does not include off-road. Possibly if I were to venture into off-road and therefore running the risk of more drops, I may consider changing to something stronger but not at the moment. Hope that helps 😀.

      Thanks
I have the road version and not adventure, but still looking to add bars, as I have already dropped my on the driveway, taking it off the centre stand.
A big mistake I have now learned

I think most of us have done something similar and it is a horrible feeling. The reason for the cylinder head protection is that even with crash bars, if the boxer engined bikes fall over on pebbles or gravel, the stones will still cause expensive damage to rocker covers if they are not protected. Hope your’s didn’t sustain too much damage.

Would you sell me a pair of the spacers you made as I don't have the ability to make them for myself?

I would be happy to make the spacers for you but am currently moving house and consequently all my equipment is in transit so it may take a couple of weeks to get organised again. If your happy to wait until I can get some sort order restored, consider it done.

I have yet to settle in after a massive move due to being in the same place for 11 years but have found the aluminium and the tools I need to make your spacers. A couple of questions for you: do you have the stock BMW crash bars on your bike and is it a 2018? Also, where in the world are you (for postage)?
