I have a box full of brown packing paper: different shades of brown, plain and structured, thick and thin, sheets, brown envelopes in varied sizes, huge pieces, small scraps-and now you have inspired me! I love the way you tickle my creativity with each video...
For me, I think of bringing lunch to school as a kid in a brown paper bag. I didn't do it often because I could walk home for lunch in the 80s 😆 So I think it's nostalgia
Thanks for the inspiration. I have several brown bags and had a similar idea to create a journal of sorts. So your guidance is appreciated. I hear you perfectly fine, by the way. ❤
Oh! I’m so glad this was helpful! Yes…you can cut the pages to size, you can even mix and match different papers within one book…so many possibilities 🥰 Artists never get bored 🤣
Hi Olga…yes!!! A graphite sketch on brown paper is just 😍🤩 I made a video on it here m.ua-cam.com/video/aYKVPhiYRz4/v-deo.html I used paper bags, graphite and then I added some fabric trim, collage etc. So fun!
Another brown paper lover here 😊 I use it for journal pages, sketching, collage, gelli printing, mini notebooks etc. I've also recently used a large brown paper shopping bag to make a fabric covered junk journal cover and it turned out perfectly. The new microphone is working really well too.
Hi Lisa…that sounds AMAZING 🤩…Did you hot glue the fabric onto the brown paper? I absolutely LOVE the humble little brown paper bag…everything from the cheap texture to the crinkly noises…swoon🥰They make awesome junk journals & art journals as well. So glad I’m in a community of people where I don’t have to explain or justify my love for all sorts of doodads😅🤣🤗
@sorayanulliah I used Barbara's method from @49dragonflies or brushing on watered down PVA glue and then laying on the fabric. No glue bleed through and full adhesion. Then I stitched around the edge before binding in my pages. It was a journal for someone else so I wanted it to last.
You have inspired me to pull out my brown paper bags and packaging and make some junk journal pages. They are magical! I have not had a problem hearing you. Thanks so much!
Hi Patricia…I’m glad you’ve been able to hear me but a few people did mention that there were issues so I’ve been trying to fix the issue. Yes…the humble, mysterious brown paper bag…so exciting and a world of possibilities 🎨👩🎨🖌️
Yes, Soraya, I have noticed a huge difference! Sound is perfect. The expense was worth it - you sound wonderful!! I always save the brown paper from Amazon packages - recently saw a video where someone collaged different shades of brown paper to a canvas. Looked like a collage! Next thing I'm trying. Currently working in a kraft concertina book! Love it. Take care - LindaH
Hi Linda…that sounds amazing…I’ve only ever used brown paper bags because I like the size but I’ll keep a look out for other shades as well! Thanks so much for letting me know about the sound of my videos…I’m pleased with my mic now 🤞but please be patient and hang tight for the next month or so…I have videos that I made before I had this mic and I’ll publish them over the next little while. But sooner or later, all my videos will sound better🤞😅 Happy creating 👩🎨🎨🖌️
@@sorayanulliah no worries, Soraya, I get it. Deciding to do You Tube videos itself seems daunting, but you're doing it! With regard to the brown paper, I just thought keeping it out of the garbage was a good idea - I even like the 'off white' packing paper. But a good old bag is great. I've been saving brown paper handled shoppers - thinking when I get ambitious, I just may make a couple long(ish) wall hangings. Got some branches to hold it and a few other things - just not the full logistics of it yet. May be 6 panels ... who knows! Best thing about your brown paper work, how excited you are to see how great it looks Stay awesome! LindaH
@@freshspiritworks4535that sounds so awesome!!! I used to have a hanging like what you’re speaking of…but I used a tree branch and Indian fabric and hung it on the wall (a really long time ago when I was in university). Hi Kim! Thank you so much…I hope you enjoy reading my article and the entire magazine is juicy inspiration as well! I’m working on a video about Dr Clarissa Pinkola Estes…her work was the inspiration for my art journal as well as my article. Happy creating 🖌️👩🎨🎨
Gosh I love the feel of brown paper. I cannot help ironing the wrinkles out and stacking them. I just couldn’t figure out how to use them in art. Im a beginner at this too. Glad i found your channel, great inspiration
Gosh! There are so many ways you use brown paper…junk journals, art journals, you can paint directly on them like canvas, you can use them to make wonderful 3 dimensional wall art (combined with natural materials like branches etc)…children’s crafts and probably a whole lot more. You know..what you just said reminds me of this article I read about a lady who collected all these materials for years (over a decade) with absolutely no idea as to why…until years later she started creating with them. I’m going to try to look through my magazines and find some hat article!! Maybe you’re supposed to use this brown paper you’ve been collecting??🤩 PS welcome to my channel 🤗
Oooooooh!!!! So many possibilities!!! And I’m thinking it’s a good quality paper? You can cut it to size for art journals/junk journals…use it as canvas to paint on, make crafts with! You can also do an artist swap in your area so you can swap some of your paper for other papers and incorporate them all together. 🎨🖌️👩🎨
Yes! Just the cheap ones that come in packs. I love the flimsy texture…it adds to the my pages but if you want something more sturdy, grocery bags have a heavier texture and you can cut them to size.
It looks like we have come full circle, we couldn't afford pretty paper for book covering and scrapbooks etc when we were school kids, so we had to use old lunch bags. I'm afraid I can't get into what you are doing it doesn't look organic or artistic it just looks awful.
Hi Jo…art is highly subjective and not everything is going to appeal to everyone. I have lots of other videos using different substrates if you’re interested. PS Years ago, I used to have a lot of difficulty painting abstract faces (even though I wanted to) and I had to work through some huge psychological blocks that stemmed from my childhood/cultural issues etc. I mention this because I’m wondering if your adverse reactions to brown paper stem from the childhood experiences you mentioned? Maybe you just don’t like my art but I’ve seen some absolutely stunning drawings and paintings on brown paper not only from contemporary artists but giants in the art world (Durer, Van Gogh, Michelangelo, DaVinci, Picasso just to name a few). The brown paper acts as a tone to be incorporated into the art which adds so much mood, emotion etc
