Soichi Negishi (Kenichi Matsuyama) is a sweet, shy young man who dreams of becoming a trendy singer. But for some reason, he is forced into joining the devil worshiping death metal band "Detroit Metal City". Now the legendary king of death metal Jack ill Dark (Gene Simmons) himself is challenging DMC to a duel. What is the fate of the innocent Negishi as he climbs to the top of the death metal world?

@TheBane826 One does not have to choose between pop music and traditional heavy metal music. One can embody darkness without sounding metal like Ulver for example that started out black metal and then became electronic/ambient/avant-garde in which they kept the essence of black metal darkness in other genres without sounding black metal.
My favorite by them is Childhood's End, Live At Roadburn, and Roadburn EP. Unfortunately, this movie does not explore that evolution of maintaining the darkness or essence of black metal without sounding like black metal and evolving musically while still maintaining its core philosophy or essence.

@kuma45678 I agree! I loved the manga, watched the anime and I loved it too. I also loved the live action movie, but I don't think they know what metal is :P
Im guessing this will avoid the whole point that the anime was popular, due to its fast conversations and jump cuts.
