I failed my driving test today because i didnt completely stop at the stop line. I emerged like it was a junction. Wheels were moving. I was so close to the test centre. Two roads away. Would have been a pass. Had 9 minors. I am so upset today. Have another test booked. Praying i will pass soon
Sorry to hear about your test, but you have learnt a valuable lesson about the true meaning of a stop sign, I am sure you will not make the same mistake again. I 'm sorry to hear that. I can understand your pain because same thing happened to me today and I failed my test in very end. Examiner said you would have passed your test if you don't make that mistake . Even there was not a single minor fault
I had 9 minors today on my test. Would have passed. I was 2 roads away from returning to the test centre. But i failed because of this too. What with covid i have another test months away 😔
As stated in the video handbrake neutral is not required. All you need to do is stop, meaning all four wheels MUST stop turning. Some instructors will teach handbrake neutral to ensure you have stopped, as of course you MUST be stopped to do handbrake neutral. You could however be penalised for hesitation if you go handbrake neutral and then take too long to get going after stopping, which is why I would not ever teach it.
So how do you know if you stopped exactly/adequately enough on the line? To be fair i somehow know when i stop on a traffic line white line 😂 without any reference points - but just wondering if there is a reference point for the stop line?? Thankyou again!
As you need to STOP at the STOP LINE, I am thinking because you need to go after you have seen it is safe. Peep'n'creep STOP, peep'n'creep STOP, peep'n'creep then you will know you have stopped correctly before emerging and seen it is safe before moving off. First time you stop you might be thinking can't see if it is safe from here. Last time you stop you think well I can see everything I need to from here, it will be safe after this car etc. You could put handbrake on at some point, possibly when in the "now I can see everything" position. It's not a junction to rush.
Yes completely agree, defiantly not a junction to rush, there is almost always some type of hidden danger. Often poor visibly and high accident rates, or in this case the level crossing and the risk of turn left and being stuck on the tracks.
No, you will need to stop again at the line. Stop signs are typically at junctions with poor visibility, so there is no benefit of stopping before the line as you will not be able to see/assess the situation correctly. If you stop early by mistake then drive forwards and stop again at the line.
Legally you don't need to use the handbrake, you just need to ensure all four wheels have FULLY stopped turning. However it would be advisable to use the handbrake if on a hill, also some instructor will advise you to use the handbrake to ensure you have fully stopped, which is fair enough as many drivers don't understand what a stop is, but as I say it is not a law to use the handbrake.
@@UKDrivingTest thanks for your quick reply Yes I seen the video but what I understand you stop on the line but u didn't put hand break and u stayed on first gear?right?but my instructor said u should put hand break and put it on neutral and check many times m confused Can u explain what u have to do please
@@WORLDNEWS-gw8is hand brake neutral is not a legal requirement. The only legal requirement is that all four wheel must stop turning completely, failure to stop fully will result in an immediate fail. As some people don't understand what a full stop means some instructors will insist you use the handbrake to ensure all four wheels have stopped turning and to remove any doubt. I would personally saying going neutral is overkill and potentially could be seen as being overly hesitant. But put the handbrake on if you wish just to reassure yourself, but it is not a legal requirement.
I failed for stopping half a meter before the line is this a serious fault? Just curious because the vision was impaired either way and I would've had to peep and creep
Not sure if you mean the road noise, rather than echoey. You can't do anything about the road noise, well unless I had a more expensive car which is quieter.
If the drop sign is on a lit street (or any form of highway lighting) and the stop sign isn't lit (either dedicated or on. Lighting column) the stop isn't legally enforceable. ;) Not to say you shouldn't stop though.
Great channel, the driving test explanations are quality how you go through the whole test, which really helps.

Good luck - I hope you pass!
This is exactly the reason why i failed today, i had 4 minutes left on the test. I would of passed with 6 minors.
sorry to hear that, but learn from it, stop signs are put there as the junction is high risk and had various serious accidents in the past.

Same as when stopping at a give way line.
You stop when the line is just below your drivers side mirror.
@@UKDrivingTest Yes - seems the same as when deciding if front wheels are in parking bay or not. Thanks.
yes it is all the same judgement.

I got question if i fully stop befor line with handbrake can I creep slowly later ? And move off when it’s clear ?

@@UKDrivingTest ye I know but if I stop fully on the line and still can’t see then I can move a little bit forward or I can’t ?
yes of course, that is why the stop line is there, stop, assess, and then proceed forward with caution,
Stop signs should not need explanations - they are extremely simple. You simply have to stop and give way.

you didn't check main and right after your right turn after releasing your handbrake??
what do you mean?
Can you give a timestamp so I know which bit you are talking about
For stop signs "shud stop on the line but shud u put hand break on?!!or just stop check and when safe carry on

Yeah I can see why that could be a serious.
The law says to stop at the line, not before it.
A bit frustrating for you I know, but that is the law.
Great information thank you
