    Wow! I admire how much effort you put into making this, from all the hiking, research, post production, and so many spectacular images. I've driven down Hwy. 89 several times and never knew about the White Rocks. Makes you upset to know you are so close, and missed it. Did Toadstools nearby, liked it a lot, but White Rocks is the Mother Lode. This is a major site in southern Utah.

      Thank you! We have also driven by on Hwy 89 many times over the decades and finally studied the map of this place a few years ago.

      @@ShrekSwag thanks! So many great scenes simply means too many pictures!! The lens I use 95% of the time is a Tamron 16-300 super zoom. I love it. About 30% of pics in the video were shot by my wife using a 17-40 Canon red ring. We both use a Rebel T7i. Video was shot with a GoPro 6 Black.

    I watched last night your grand tour of Escalante and i know now how to start planning with all your advice. I have been interested in this particular area since i hike to the wave, 18 years ago! Just got back from Canyonlands and going to the GC raft trip in a month. LOVE your videos! Long time subscriber! Rosie from Dallas

    This is really well done... You should do many more of these in the Grand Staircase-Escalante NM. The BLM NM sites are just not very clear from a trail standpoint which creates confusion! Maybe Kanab, UT could provide you a grant :)

    This is one of your best videos to date. So awesome! So much to see! Such excellent photography & videography! And please continue with the "geology stuff." It's not boring. Not to me, anyway.

      Awesome! Glad you enjoyed. If you're not bored, then I'm not bored! Regardless, the geology and how everything seemed to have been formed here is soooo coool, it would be a sin not to share it with everyone.

    Thanks for the great video! Can we hike to Wahweap Hoodoos from there, the White Rock?

    • @BackRoadsWest1

      You're welcome and thank you for commenting. No, not recommended to hike to Wahweap Hoodoos from Sidestep Canyon. Plus you wouldn't fit it in on one day.

      @@BackRoadsWest1Thank you! I happened to watch another youtube video who hiked to Wahweap Hoodoos. ua-cam.com/video/q7NXbA4WxTY/v-deo.html. And another video to there by Big Water and 9.2 miles hiking roundtrip.

    Great overview! I was wondering about the road condition of 435. I have a Jeep Trailhawk (factory specs). Under dry conditions, would it be possible to tow a small teardrop trailer to the trailhead? Thanks for the boring geology. :-}

    • @BackRoadsWest1
      @BackRoadsWest1  5 місяців тому

      Thank you. I've seen BMWs and other street vehicles parked at the trailheads (end of 435). So there's your answer!

      You seem very knowledgeable. We live in Phoenix but have a place in Church Wells. We have yet to explore in White Rocks, since we have two very young children, but plan to this winter

    • @BackRoadsWest1
      @BackRoadsWest1  3 місяці тому

      @@kmb651 too funny, you have place in Church Wells, right next doors to White Rocks. Well, we live in Hurricane, and that would be like us not visiting Zion! Church Wells is a nice uncrowded place when you need to get away from the bustle of Phx. There's so much to explore out there, not just White Rocks. You'll need to explore Smokey Mtn Rd our of Big Water, but not with a BMW sedan!

    • @kmb651
      @kmb651 3 місяці тому

      @BackRoadsWest1 We usually drive a fully built Tacoma. We've done a ton of exploring up there, just not enough on foot. We've done Smoky Mountain, Left Hand Collet, Alstrom Point, Cottonwood Canyon, Cutler Point and so much more. We love it up there!
