I hope global citizenship does not mean everyone has to conform to one particular culture and accept one ideal but instead people can share their norms, values and beliefs with one and other that are respected by others.
That's how I view global citizenship.

lSaif , Parekh advocates what he calls globally oriented citizenship, and states, "If global citizenship means being a citizen of the world, it is neither practicable nor desirable."[56] He argues that global citizenship, defined as an actual membership of a type of worldwide government system, is impractical and dislocated from one's immediate community.[56] He also notes that such a world state would inevitably be "remote, bureaucratic, oppressive, and culturally bland."[56] Parekh presents his alternative option with the statement: "Since the conditions of life of our fellow human beings in distant parts of the world should be a matter of deep moral and political concern to us, our citizenship has an inescapable global dimension, and we should aim to become what I might call a globally oriented citizen."[56] Parekh's concept of globally oriented citizenship consists of identifying with and strengthening ties towards one's political regional community (whether in its current state or an improved, revised form), while recognizing and acting upon obligations towards others in the rest of the world.[56]

Being world citizens as in sense of being cosmopolitan means being both local and global at the same time. In fact, as a cosmopolitan one has several identity circles as from family and friends up to humanity

11years later. Global citizenship is becoming a lot more common in education setting. Schools teaching the IB curriculum especially puts a lot of focus to this "care locally, thrive globally" concept. Interesting to think about how much landscape has changed in the last decade

I'm sorry, how is sending hundreds of thousands of FREE prosthetics a humanitarian fail? The majority of prosthetics made are already white (and are extremely expensive) because the majority of America is composed of people with white skin. So we sent over what we had. To say giving away free items which will help others is a form of imposing our culture is laughable. If I was given a FREE hand or foot after losing mine, I would be grateful, regardless of color. Is understanding other cultures important? Absolutely! But the example given is probably not the best one to choose.

Being a global citizen means being part of the serfdom of drones ruled by the UN. It means trading your freedoms, liberties, private property rights, freedom of expressing your faith, and giving up your car for the "good" of the collective under the banner of "sustainable development". It means living in high dense apartment buildings and being refused access to the "open spaces". Being global citizen means the environment is more important than humans because you will be trained and conditioned to believe that the world needs to be saved from that hoax called man made global warming(oh, I am sorry, it is called climate change because how can you argue that the climate is not changing?). I, therefore am content with being called a proud American.

Global citizenship is also about natural human rights to property, liberty and life. In my view, everybody who can respect that should have the right to move around across the world

The case is also if I remember right that many Americans do not have passports and have not studies enough global history and geography. Good if such trends can change in favour of humanity
