Yeah but in Korea a woman who wears clothes like that will be shamed in public and called a slut, older people will turn away from you and noone will respect you, you will be talked about and prayed on by scum men on the streets that want to take advantage of you and if they do, noone will care because you are dressed like that. If the top half is exposed then it is considered indecent..
Jin was just trying to protect her from being judged harshly. I'm korean and my girlfriend is American, so I can understand his meanings. We respect woman but they need to also understand our culture before choosing to date us as well. I only want want is best for my girlfriend the same like Jin. I was also judged a lot at first for dating outside my culture but once they saw that my girlfriend respected the culture too, she was accepted more and more. She didn't change herself she still wears shorts at home and in America but if we go to Korea to see my family, she covers up herself a little bit more and she's still beautiful no matter what, there is a time and place for everything and dressing like Hattie did for a public walk in Korea would be the wrong thing to do in that moment.

@Never lose sleep over the small stuff I totally agree with you, all I did was mention that in Korea where I am from it has been a long standing culture for people to respect someone more if they are conservative rather than being dressed in revealing clothes. I also want people to evolve and move on since it shouldn't matter what you wear or what you like, but unfortunately there are still many people in the world who are stuck in the old ways, my own parents and grandparents included.
When I first introduced my girlfriend to them the first thing they said was "Oh is she American? You have to teach her the right way" something I didn't like personally but my girlfriend was happy to cover herself more for my family and societies sake even if I think she looks beautiful in any clothes. Sometimes I would see other creepy men look at her and it would worry me too you know but all I said is that I get why Jin reacted the way he did, it's not about holding anyone back, it was simply about making sure the girl was safe since we know the culture and how men can be sometimes. 😊

I agree that guys shouldnt be controlling over what their girls wear, yes! But when you live in an environment that is different from yours, you have to learn to respect the culture of the people around you. Each culture has their own set of customs, norms, beliefs, and if you want to sustain good relationship and experiences in a foreign environment with foreign people, you have to be understanding of the context that you are living in. I dont think it's right also, to judge quickly based on your own set of beliefs and the culture you grew up in. So yeah, context and understanding is what im trying to say is important here
