It's not a battle between Queens. The last time it was a grandmother who wanted to have a photo with her grandchildren and a daughter in law who was behaving inappropriate publicly. No grandmother deserves such a humiliation. I really feel sorry for the girls who have to put up with o mother that push them eather to go away or to go near their grandmother.
And the worrying part is that Leonor is going to be queen someday! The family better get their act together to make sure the Princess grows to be a good and loving queen.

My in-laws can’t stand me because my same sex partner sees my family as hers. I gave birth to a little boy who is now 15 and wonders why my in-laws never visit. My mother in law is in her 80s and when she rides in the car with my family (husband and 2 sons) I never make her sit in the back seat. I sit in the back and help her in and out of the car. Sweet Leonor helped her grandmother out of the car. I loved it!

I don't think we should judge Letizia. To me, this looks rather like a nudge to Leonor to smile. The girls are growing up and I doubt that they want to hold their grandmother's hand like little children. They might rebel behind the scene and Letizia is just telling Leonor to be nice in public. I well remember Sofia when she was a young Queen. She and her family are conservative old fashioned aristocrats, in a way quite brutal. Her brother still thinks he's still king and his opinion of the commoners is arrogantly low. Sofia is acting well, we should not underestimate her. She's quite a piece of arrogant work who blames Letizia for gaining the love of her son who stood up to her. Sofia had nothing but hate and critics towards every woman Felipe ever loved. None was good enough for marriage. She wanted to force him into a marriage with a European princess when they didn't want each other. The princess' father excluded his daughter from his family and she moved on to marry her love. And Felipe rebelled against Sofia when she again tried to meddle this life. Felipe knows what his mother is capable of but he's keeping up appearances. Because he IS indeed a nice person, and he has been raised a king.

Letizia needs to relax a little. Besides being rude to be handling or scolding her daughters 24/7, she should remember that in public she is Queen of Spain first not children governess. Only Letizia is a very strong woman and that's one of the reasons Felipe married her. We shouldn't forget that they all hated her and Felipe fighted hard for her, he had to threaten his parents to give way to Elena if they constantly refused every woman he was interested in. Spanish court protocol is brutal and so are his parents. Sofias brother acted like an arrogant brutal dictator in a recent interview, still in denial that his no longer king and in exile for a reason. Letizia has not exactly an easy life at court. Sofia is using the girls and in particular the princess of Asturia against Letizia. Sofia has not learnt about love between a couple. She had been traded off to Juan Carlos on a cruise ship when she was still half a child. One didn't marry if love in her time, they were all married for political reasons and certainly not for love. My own family decends from such a line but luckily not a directly reigning one. Sofias only power is the control over the crown princess and she's playing it.

You know whose side they are going to choose, their mother's, Queen Letizia. Also, they are going to start displaying animosity towards that grandparent. This is based on what they have been witnessing from their mother and grandmother constant fights and battles in front of them. Which has basically already happened.
