This is an excellent comparison between these two products. Thank you for taking the time to do this, and for your thoroughness. I do have the Orcam MyEye Pro. I would not have purchased the device myself given the extremely high price tag, but have to say I use it all the time and it has significantly improved my ability to function more independently in public and in private. I would have a hard time giving it up now. Let’s hope for that Orcam, Envision baby to come along some day.
Thank you! I agree Orcam is the superior device in terms of functionality so I'm glad to hear it's making such a big impact on your life. That will be the day I drop 5 grand! haha
This was a wonderful review, so careful, so balanced. It is my first experience into the low vision world, first time I had to look for help for an aging mother whose macular degeneration is starting to affect daily life. I am grateful for the thought you put into this comparison, and want you to know you did some good to the world today. Thank you.
You did a great job comparing the two devices. Yes, I am waiting for that baby also! By the way, orcam my eye pro is currently $3700 on Amazon, but if you need customer support, youre going to be waiting a long time.
Thanks! It was a fun video to shoot. OHH that's a great price. I knew they dropped it for summer. Do you know if it's the my eye pro 2? or the original?
this was one of the best review videos I’ve seen on these products! You did an excellent job! You saved me a bunch of books, as I was just considering buying the or cam, gonna wait on the gender party now. Keep up the great work, happy to be a subscriber
Thanks Scott! I do try to be fair and balanced and not sugar coat tech as I see a lot of creators do. I believe that there is amazing benefit to a lot of adaptive equipment, but it should be balanced with any potential flaws or drawbacks, of which, all products have many!
I would not prefer both because of the very high price of the products& less accuracy of the software . In my opinion my phone would do a better job for me as I have a somewhat decent vision to use my phone indoors . But I loved the AI in it's initial stages hope it will improve in the future and the price could be reasonable then I might give it a thought. Keep up the good work And congratulation for 2 k subs many more achievement waiting to be unlocked
Really useful review. I have just been contacted by my dad as he has seen adverts for the Orcam and wanted me to do some research for him. He is in his 90s and blind which means his world is full of challenges and danger. From the advert the Orcam sounded like it would make him like Commander Laforge from Startrek. The reality is, sadly, a few years away yet. You can see the direction and the future but it isn't here in 2023. Still, at least I know the truth now.
With AI advancing so much even with open ai 4o being able to see and describe things it sees and translating other languages ect i look forward to seeing what ai they add to these type of glasses in the future.
Thank you for your comparison of Orcam Eye Pro and Envision. I believe you mentioned Microsoft Seeing AI as an additional product too. I will try to check that out too. Contacting one's local blind organization was welcome comment too. Thank you for your input.
Another excellent review. And yeah, it got me to back off of the Envision product just yet. Orcam looks excellent but is also needs development (particularly, as you mentioned, as to battery life). Neither are worth the cost yet. Soon perhaps. Right, Seeing AI looks like the way to go for the time being. Thanks again for an honest detailed appraisal.
@@UnsightlyOpinions Exactly. I just communicated with Rayban Meta -- they work only with the Meta app. Hopefully their connectivity to SeeingAI and others will come soon.
Congratulations for this great research and examples, this was so helpful. We are just starting in this techonology aides four our son and trying to make a decision. What´s the Microsofot option that you mentioned?
Thank you! I'm glad you found the video helpful! It can be a very expensive and complicated decision depending on what it will be used for. Microsoft Seeing AI is a free app that you can download to iPhone or Android and it does many of the same things as these glasses. There's also Google Lookout for Android which is also free. Here's a link to a video I made on Seeing AI in case you were interested. ua-cam.com/video/RH8FNP5TanI/v-deo.html
You are right, I wish OrCam had video calling and Google glass was faster, I have an my eye pro, I like it’ but it would be even better if The two make a baby, I would up grade , thank’s for the vid, stay awesome.
Ultimately I think that depends on your use case. It'll be a different answer for everyone. Some would prefer one device over another, some would prefer a free app. It's entirely person dependent.
The only question becomes how much privacy do you have with this technology because. You may be reading a bill or other financial papers with a lot of important personal information that would allow someone to take on your identity or hack you or bankrupt you or sell your data to marketing data harvesters
In my opinion, both items are way overpriced, but there’s really no comparison between the two cents the Envision Glasses can connect you to an Aira Agent. To be a fair comparison, you would have to ask The or cam to walk you across a busy intersection or call you an Uber. 16:31
Yes, I believe each device reads in several langue's. You can check it out on their respective websites depending on which device you are more interested in. :)
It is unfortunate for sure. I do feel for what they were offering the tech was too expensive and behind the curve for what’s available for free now in terms of accessibility. I do wish that there was a wearable that did a lot of the things orcam did for a fraction of the cost. Maybe they know something about upcoming wearables from big tech we don’t.

Very impressed with this video. You should do a part two of this video but using the. Seleste glasses vs envision glasses.

Thank you so much! I've found seeing AI And Be my AI to be wonderful options that cost nothing. If only we can get them in a wearable we will be set!

Can orcam be my eye be use in other countries? I live in malaysia
Orcam can be used in other countries. I would check to see if it can do your preferred language(s). I know there are a few options.
Well done
Thank you!
Only thing I like about both is they're hands free. If I could have a camera interface with seeingAI or be my eyes, I'd purchase that!
100% agree! I’m excited to see what things like the new Apple vision glasses can do
What is a good price for this item
Have you tested apple glasses? Will those be of any help to legally blind people?
I want to, but they aren't available in Canada yet. :)
Could you feel either one of them get warm like a cellphone next to your head?
I can't recall feeling either device being very hot.
So which one worth getting?

I think i would get the orcam my eye
Too bad they discontinued them. :(
@UnsightlyOpinions yes it is sad
❤
Can i drive with this device
If you are visually impaired or legally blind this device will not allow you to drive.

Does it read in language other than English?
Yes, I believe each device reads in several langue's. You can check it out on their respective websites depending on which device you are more interested in. :)
My boy cannot use a cell phone in school. I'm looking at something like this to help him read.
I don’t use Seeing AI at all; I don’t like it at all. I love my OrCam. I just wish it had a longer battery life.
It sucks that orcam are now abandoning their vision products instead focusing entirely on hearing. Why would they do this to us?
It is unfortunate for sure. I do feel for what they were offering the tech was too expensive and behind the curve for what’s available for free now in terms of accessibility. I do wish that there was a wearable that did a lot of the things orcam did for a fraction of the cost. Maybe they know something about upcoming wearables from big tech we don’t.
Orcan should have video calling.
100% agree. It would take it from good to excellent
