So many people tout Death By Television as one of the greatest albums of all time, by any Pop Punk band, but I was kind of disappointed with it because the Lillingtons changed their sound with that album. THIS EP and Shit Out Of Luck were always my favorites and when I heard Death By Television I was shocked to hear that they sounded so differently.
I prefer the distinctive Death By Television's sound (and their next two albums after that one) than their early standard pop punk.
They were just outgrowing the subject matter of teen romance, girls, etc. Death By Television is a more mature logical step in the songwriting. The introduction of horror themes, outer space adventure, is welcome now. Look what the CRAMPS, DWARVES , MISFITS, etc. have done with the horror genre. They also are mastering the art of the hook, and Death By Television is full of fat ones.
@@Andrew-kb4px The lyrics are mostly arbitrary to me. I only listen to music for the sound. That being said, I don't know if I'd refer to "I Saw The Apeman On The Moon" as a mature logical step in the songwriting.
