I have been hearing a lot of users report that the 2022 Blade laptops no longer have visible backlight bleed, is this true? Have their QC standards finally improved? I love the direction they are heading since they increased the battery size on the 17 inch and added speakers. I get the feeling that the next 17 inch refresh might be something really special and worth the purchase over the 15 inch model. One can hope for an OLED 17 inch panel and 100 watt hour battery with a slight reduction in body size for the next 17 inch refresh. I personally wouldn't want thicker or taller rubber feet on the bottom of a Razer laptop because I don't like the current rubber feet. Let me explain my opinion. My 15 inch laptop is really uncomfortable resting on my lap because of the rubber feet.
I haven't had backlight bleed on any razer laptop since 2020. It's much much better now. That wasn't always the case. As much as I would love OLED, there's still some kinks to be worked out like the PWM flicker, battery drain at high brightness, and the grainy dirty screen look, not able to display white correctly and probably others. I think the future is either OLED or mini led though. We'll see.
That's the dream right there. Excited to see the duo with the 165 hz mini led panel. I know asus has an exclusive on that display. So they must really believe in it

Can someone explain to me why gaming laptops nowadays have minimal ports? I got my 2016 model laptop in 2017 and it has 4 USB ports, one USB c thunderbolt, one HDMI, 2 mini display ports, one vga port, multi card reader, audio out/in and mic ports, Ethernet port and that weird port that lights up red I think it's optical or something. I may have also not mentioned one or two more ports. I paid 2400 for this laptop back in 2017. Modern laptops that cost 4k don't have half the ports mine does. What's up with that? Also why do modern laptops have very minimal ventilation vents on the bottom? The bottom of the laptop I mentioned has vents covering nearly the entire bottom side and even the left right and back has vents.
Really sad about the lack of Gsync on the 4k. The build quality and decent speakers is something I really wanted. My budget is $2k used (I7,3080TI). I do mostly productivity stuff and media consumption, with some gaming and 3d modeling. This is at the VERY top of my budget used. I guess I have to look at the GE76. If anyone reads this and has suggestions at $2k USD used, I'm all ears. Must be 4k 120hz+ with decent speakers.
@@consumertechwarehouse Thank you for the reply, that's nice of you. I will look into the X17 used. I guess both the R1 and R2 versions? There are just many options. Why X17 instead of GE67? I'm tempted to hold out for black friday/cyber monday deals....but I think buying used might still be the best bang for buck.
The ge76 or ge77 just seems to be more expensive and goes on sale less. Better luck finding an Alienware since they’re more abundant too. Keep looking, especially on eBay, something may pop up. Though it’s going to be difficult to find exactly what you’re looking for at that price
@@consumertechwarehouse Thanks! The x17s apparently have widespread problems with speakers and everyone recommends buying the warrantee if you get one. Not an option used, ofc. Anyway, thank you so much for your time and for the video, I will keep looking.
By the way, one very important thing for SSD upgrade is that, Razer indicates on its website that double sided SSD is supported (upto 2x4TB it says), which is not the case for X17, for example. As far as I understand, they don't have enough spacing for the bottom layer. Anyway, I got my i9 4K model two days ago and I am stunned by the display quality. I was looking for a pro level looking occasional gaming laptop and this is everything I wanted. Why I chose this over the others (XPS 17, GE76, X17 R2): 1) Better screen options and more professional look than X17R2. 2) More usable port configuration than XPS 17. 3) Better design, better display than GE76, with emergency USB-C charging. Good luck with your channel. Thank you for the review. ;)
Thanks for that. And I agree. The razer is the most professional looking gaming laptop I know of. Though ROG has some classy designs as well. But Razer still takes the crown
is there an option on a 240hz panel to enable 120hz mode on integrated GPU? and what display refresh rate modes are available for iGPU in Windows Settings?
Great video. Waiting for this so long. The i9 with the 4k excites me. Would you hold off for the mid year model or just buy now? They normally bring out a mid year laptop with all the improvements, then again they might not bother this year?
Hey. Thanks! They typically only do a mid or late year refresh if there's a hardware update. Since Intel 12th gen and the RTX 3080 Ti are both brand new components, I don't know if we'll see another refresh until next year. But I can't predict the future though.
@@consumertechwarehouse yeah totally agree. Just trying to make the right decision because tech is outdated way to quick as it is and for companies/brands to bring out a mid year version is just bonkers, plus your looking at £4600 for the 4k version in the UK. I'll be gutted if they bring out a PRO version etc after making the plunge lol
@@consumertechwarehouse I've finally bought the i9 3080 and Jesus these things get warm around the left bottom of the keyboard. What settings do you run the laptop? I've maxed fans and still warm
Quick question with the Razor Blade 17" 144Hz 3080TI is it possible to enable the "Use HDR" for gaming when the nvidia is set to the default adaptor? The Use HDR doesn't come available even when switched to that on my unit. HDR for streaming works ok. Just can't enable HDR for gaming.
Hello! thanks so much for the review! I purchased the laptop and observed I have a lot of popping/crackling noise in the low frequency tones, and I am not sure if it is model specific or if is just my unit that is bad. It would help me really much if you run a single 60Hz and 70Hz tone (from youtube it works) and tell me if you hear such strange things. I am still able to return the laptop so it would be great to know if I should.
Anyone know how to fix blank screen with powered keyboard and power indicator? I’ve tried every option listed on razed website. Can’t believe a brand new laptop is having problems.
I'm going to test that and talk about it in my 17 inch update video. But you can use it on your lap, though it's a bit heavy. When not under load it doesn't get hot. Under load it gets warm. I'll try gaming on my lap for as long as I can and report back
have you knoticed your battery charge drops to like 96-98% when playing games? i know lithium doesnt always charge when its at 100% but just wanted to see if you knoticed? thanks in advance.
I did now that you mention it. I wasn't sure if the battery just wasn't fully charged. But i noticed it last night and knew it was fully charged before I started gaming
@@consumertechwarehouse have you looked or seen any reason why we are losing battery? i dont think i feel its giving aperformance issues, but losing 2-4% sometimes is weird, never has dropped below 96%
@@Adrian890722 I don't know why it's happening but it is. I think because the laptop pulls so much power while under load, the power cable isn't sufficient, so it has to take some out from the battery. I had a Dell XPS 17 that was famous for this. I don't think it's a defect, and probably nothing to be concerned about. I think it's just the only way Razer can get that much power out of it without having to use a bigger power brick.
Thanks! What about the low-end brightness of the keyboard though, I'm not clear on whether it is to bright in the dark, or whether it can be turned down enough?
Hello, I would like to buy a Razer Blade 15 2022 but now I'm not sure whether to buy the 240hz or the 4k 144hz display. I just want to use razer laptop for microsoft flight simulator (ultra settings). Now the question arises which display is worthwhile for me. and how big is the difference in brightness? And is the performance of both laptops the same or which laptop has more power? thank you.
Once you get the 3080 ti version they should perform almost identically at QHD. 4k should see a huge performance drop. I don't know how much fps you'll get on that game though. To me the brightness difference between just barely 300 nits vs. 500 nits is big. If you're ok with spending the extra money I think for your use case the brighter 4k panel might be better. But it's a lot of extra to get the 4k. You'll be fine with the qhd panel too on medium to low lit rooms
Is there a way to change the resolution in case the computer starts lagging. For example instead of 4K can I change it to 2K or is just stuck like that?
Yes but it doesn't look as good. Worse than if you would view a native 2K display because of dithering. But with the 12th gen, 4k 144 hz ran like butter. I was very surprised. Both on dgpu and Optimus
About the same. 100% srgb and dcip3 and both and about 88% adobe rgb on the qhd and 90% on the 4k. The brightness on the 4k panel is what sets it apart though
Any thoughts on the impact of the lack of gsync on the 4k? You mentioned not an issue but then you said it was. Also thoughts on no advanced Optimus on the 4k?
I guess what I meant to say it’s not an issue but it would have been nice to have. I think the better choice would have been to put gsync on a 144hz panel over a 240 hz panel but I know that’s not a decision razer gets to make. Gaming at 4k 144hz is next level though. And I really miss having the higher refresh rate compared to the ge76 I’ve been using long term. And no advanced Optimus on the 4k version. Just a traditional mux switch
@@consumertechwarehouse one more question for you. I got the 240hz but the brightness is a little low. Do you think I would notice the lack of gsync on the 4k panel? I probably will run at 1440p but would like the extra brightness but worried about gsync missing.
@@rooneyx9761 240 hz does look better than 144hz but you’ll notice gsync more than the refresh rate. Unfortunately you’ll have to choose between a brighter screen or a smoother gameplay experience. I game mostly connected to a monitor and only game on the laptop when I need to so it’s easy for me. If I was mostly gaming on the laptop, I would stick with the sync and qhd
@@consumertechwarehouse no micro stutters here just weird g sync flickering when it’s enabled. Seems to be only on tarkov and hunt show down so far tho
Hello and thanks for the video. You mentioned the 4k option doesn’t have gsync. Does that hold true if you use it with an external monitor that has gsync capability? Thanks again.
@@consumertechwarehouse For somebody that will be playing on an external monitor(odyssey G9) 80% of the time. Would you recommend the 3080ti qhd with advanced optimus or the 4k version?
@@Anonymoouseyt QHD mostly due to Advanced Optimus, which will let you disable the iGPU and get more fps when not using the external monitor, and secondly because QHD is plenty at 17", I would be surprised if you found any difference from 4K at that size.
@@Nunoflashy I was honestly leaning that way. Time to return my 4k and wait for qhd to restock. I'd save a bit over 300 dollars. And I don't think Im losing much going from the i9-12900H to the i7-12700H
I see that the secondary key values like @#$% are on the bottom of the keys instead of top like most other laptops...The Alienware X17 has this too...is this the new way?
Probably some styling choices. The ge76 doesn’t do that. I didn’t even notice that actually. Didn’t really interrupt the flow on how I use these laptops
Can u press windows + g and then settings , under gaming feature is there an enable hdr? Saw a video for another laptop and he enables it there and games look better?
I would really get the Razer for the sleek look, but there's so many negative reviews on Razers customer support. How was ypur experience so far? I guess it depends what part of the world you are.. most complains are from US customer support, wonder if EU support ist better.
I’ve had 2 RMAs and a lost package and didn’t have much issues. Sometimes you have to hopefully get the right person. But eventually I got what I needed fixed. I found that emailing is better than calling. Also, if you’re able to buy it from a 3rd party that offers an extended warranty or additional coverage that’s probably a good idea
This seems like a lot is off the cuff, and it's pretty amazing how detailed you are in that regards. Thumbs up again bud. As far as these laptops, the battery life is completely inexcusable, and this is coming from someone that just picked up a razer blade 15 3080 that gets about 4 to 4.5 hours at 33percent brightness 60hz (from 360hz) light computing. It's unacceptable, gaming or not. These machines should be pulling 8hours+ when not gaming. They are $3k+. Figure it out razer.
Razer has never been good with battery and it's such a shame. ROG laptops are actually fairly good while offering equivalent performance or better while plugged in. But my 2021 razer blade was 2 to 3 hours max. So they have improved somewhat
That’s insane on the 3060 side. at the 3080 ti level they aren’t too far behind MSI and Asus. But really good point. The 3060 pricing vs the competition is insane.
I also wanted to ask 2 questions. If I were to change the resolution to a lower amount could I raise the hertz display. For example could I change in settings from a 4K 144hz display to a HD 240hz display and vice versa? Also when do these laptops release ? I have no clue if it’s a month or 6 months or even more.
Yes. All of those are available on the windows display settings. Your best bet is to be in 4k at 60 hz to maximize battery and not taking a dip in screen quality
Lol. LAPtop. But everyone's use case is different. I care about lapability but a lot of folks don't. So I try to really think about everyone when talking about the devices
The last generation Razers are actually very uncomfy on your lap because of the thick rubber feet bars on the front and back. I like how they gave them two seperate feet on the front this year.
Wow I am not impressed with the 3080 TI. I was looking at your footage while you were playing Halo Infinite in the background and even the 3080 TI only hits 44 FPS without dynamic resolution. I guess 2K is still the way to go with a gaming laptop.
I don't think the 3080 ti is worth it if you have something from last year. But the difference in speakers, display, and CPU might be worthwhile. Also I saw your comments on the OLED. It's giving me an idea of a video I want to do next week. Stay tuned
@@consumertechwarehouse I love your channel by the way. I watched every minute of your videos because you go into all the details that some bigger channels always dance around probably because they are sponsored and forced to speak nicely. Keep up the good work!

Get an MSI... real performance.. Cinebench 20K and over with current gen models.. and cheaper than Razer.. Razer leaving so much performance on the table and the only possible appeal is for those who have to have a thin laptop. My GT77 is getting 9500 in Cinebench R20. Yes, R20! That's hysterical that it's getting almost as high in R20 that the Blades get in R23. My R23 score is 23015 LOL My 3070ti is beating the 3080ti in Razer. You can get all this in a much slimmer and sleeker package with the GE67 and 77HX. And they still perform amazing. GP67HX also coming, they are great.
Hey Teddy! I agree with you 100%. I just got myself the GE77HX. Did you use the IMON tweak to get 23k on CBr23? I gave it a go and my first test got 21000 points. What settings did you use?
@@OWNORDISOWN Never even heard of that mate.. what is imon tweak? returned the GT77 due to insane screen bleed.. It was really unbearable, even the store said so! I think I'll get one next year when they hopefully go oled, but want a 17., not a 15./. Still with my legion 7i 2021 for now!
@@teddym2808 wow, that sucks! Mine is great. The IMON tweak tricks the CPU into thinking it is using higher watts than it really is so the CPU doesn't power throttle. MSI has the MMIO, the PL settings in memory, set to 115w and even though I change the PL1 to say 125w it will throttle down to 115w as per those settings. The only away around it was to use the IMON slope. I set the PL1 and PL2 to 125W and set an IMON offset of -15000 so it drops to 110w but keeps the same clock rate as 125W , and the beauty is the temperature is the same as 110W. I need to play around with it more , it can cool 135w OK. Will do a video on it once I have it dialed in. Been testing the i7 and i9 HX version of the Legion 7i. PL1 125w is tough for it to cool though...97 degrees in CBR23. Gaming its fine though.
Hey OWNorDisown. Been watching your content forever before I started UA-cam. Glad to see you here. How many watts do you get on the ge77 stock. Teddys GT77 is probably close to class leading. My legion 7i got 20,641. But I test everything stock
Razer always charges a premium. I try not to mention that kind of stuff in my videos because everyone's perspective on that is different. But I do agree.
all razer blade gaming laptops suck, they get very hot when gaming, i prefer the new msi raider ge76 deluxe edition 12ux gaming laptops they are the best at video editing, and photo editing and don't get very hot and when you play games it's a jam super smooth play has 4k 120fps
yeah. I've been using the GE76 for a few days. I agree. I do still think there's a market that would prefer the Razer for the premium build and much thinner build
I agree with you. If you want the best gaming experience then Razer is not the right choice. I just like Razer because I think they are a good all rounder laptop.
Unfortunately, I ended up returning my Razer Blade Pro 17 i7 RTX 3080ti 240hz (early 2022 model) due to the laptop overheating over 100 C over the simplest gaming apps during CS GO and Overwatch. Went through the worst customer service experience I've ever dealt with over any company in my entire career. Came bundled w/ a free mouse and they were petty enough to have me return that too. I returned everything in exact MFTR packaging (including the mouse and gave them a free battery AA lol). I had agents emailing me everyday updating me the fed ex tracking and when the return was finally delivered, they ghosted me. I contacted them 1 business day later and I was notified that it takes 2 DAYS for their warehouse to systematically receive the return. I waited 8 business days total. I contacted them again and was given the runaround ("we're working on the delay to systematically receive your return"). Nobody decided to escalate this case until I requested it, through a NEW AGENT, because previous agents kept ghosting me "chat disconnected, let us queue you again", finally explained everything to a supervisor and he took care of it. Following day, I get an email notice of the full refund for $4,294.12 which was NOT the full refund. The deducted $87.19 was from the mouse (which was given to me for free as a promotion for buying the laptop, yet was returned w/ the laptop anyway). Which led me to contacting them AGAIN, wanting to speak to a supervisor, which an agent denied me that by checking on my case when I clearly asked him not to, (because I was done with the lazy job the reg cust service agents were handling this), I asked for a supervisor 4x, finally got one, and he stated he will push the refund through for the $87.19 soon, which I have not yet received an email for. WORST purchase experience ever, and I understand this won't happen to everyone, I guess I lost the tech lotto, but the customer service is very sad and a poor representation for a company like Razer.
Thanks. I read through your entire comment. And that's very unfortunate. I've had pretty good experience with Razer's customer service but only if I deal with them through email lol. I had a package get lost (they mailed me only the label, laptop was missing) and, on a different occasion, had to have them replace a display due to really bad backlight bleed. But with what you described, it doesn't sound like you're the only one. I mean if razer is charging such a premium, their customer service needs to be better. Way better
Buy Asus Scar bro, better audio quality and thermal management, fan noise is only 45 decibel in gaming unlike other up to 60 decibels, downside only are the ports, too few ports

Also why do modern laptops have very minimal ventilation vents on the bottom? The bottom of the laptop I mentioned has vents covering nearly the entire bottom side and even the left right and back has vents.
While some of those ports you mentioned are outdated, I agree. I like having lots of ports.
Hi , does anyone know if Razer ever updated the Razer 2022 with uhd panel with advanced Optimus ? Does it include hdr or Dolby vision? Gsync?
Really sad about the lack of Gsync on the 4k. The build quality and decent speakers is something I really wanted. My budget is $2k used (I7,3080TI). I do mostly productivity stuff and media consumption, with some gaming and 3d modeling. This is at the VERY top of my budget used. I guess I have to look at the GE76. If anyone reads this and has suggestions at $2k USD used, I'm all ears. Must be 4k 120hz+ with decent speakers.
Check out some used x17s if you can. There’s an m17 that’s 4k but uses AMD I believe
Just a great full review. Solid work. Thanks
Thanks! I recently did an update on it
Razer really should have added the i9 to the QHD model as well, or at least as an option. Seems like they would compliment each other well.
Yeah I agree. Even more so on a 1080p 360hz panel
is there an option on a 240hz panel to enable 120hz mode on integrated GPU? and what display refresh rate modes are available for iGPU in Windows Settings?
You can tune it down all the way to 60hz if you want to in synapse
Unfortunately you can't. You can't use it for HDR Gaming.
@@consumertechwarehouse bummer :(
Thank you ❤ I can see difference in colour brightness of 4K, but I found good deal on QHD version 😵💫🤪
Hello! thanks so much for the review!
Even when I listen to your video, there is subtle but yet very noticeable popping/crackling noise.
Anyone know how to fix blank screen with powered keyboard and power indicator? I’ve tried every option listed on razed website. Can’t believe a brand new laptop is having problems.
As someone who uses laptops on my my lap what would you recommend I use?
I'm going to test that and talk about it in my 17 inch update video. But you can use it on your lap, though it's a bit heavy. When not under load it doesn't get hot. Under load it gets warm. I'll try gaming on my lap for as long as I can and report back
@@consumertechwarehouse sounds good thank you
Nice reveiw man
Thanks.
have you knoticed your battery charge drops to like 96-98% when playing games? i know lithium doesnt always charge when its at 100% but just wanted to see if you knoticed? thanks in advance.
I did now that you mention it. I wasn't sure if the battery just wasn't fully charged. But i noticed it last night and knew it was fully charged before I started gaming
@@consumertechwarehouse Yea its odd, only seems to drop to like 98% then sit at 99%
@@consumertechwarehouse WOINDER if its to cycle the battery somehow, or it stop charging? seems odd though.
I think it's just the only way Razer can get that much power out of it without having to use a bigger power brick.
did they both have old panel?? or IPS
It’s a mini led ips display. The mini led panels is gives it oled like contrast ratios
Thanks! What about the low-end brightness of the keyboard though, I'm not clear on whether it is to bright in the dark, or whether it can be turned down enough?
yes it can. it can be lowered down to a brightness that’s comfortable to use in pitch darkness. not much other gaming laptops can do that
Hello, I would like to buy a Razer Blade 15 2022 but now I'm not sure whether to buy the 240hz or the 4k 144hz display.
Hi Can you connect vr glasses to the notebook?
Yea you can. The usb c connects directly to the dgpu
@@consumertechwarehouse ok thank you 👍🏻
Very nice video.please tell us also about if laptops noise and rendering times of any project in your video.
I can work on a rendering test. Noise was around 52 db which is standard
@@consumertechwarehouse But at 4k, the icons and text on windows and office are super small. If you set windows to 200% scaling, how does it look?
very nice
i am looking at the 16 inch 3080ti now..
Colours gamuts of both?
About the same. 100% srgb and dcip3 and both and about 88% adobe rgb on the qhd and 90% on the 4k. The brightness on the 4k panel is what sets it apart though
4k-144Hz-3080Ti-32Gb ram. Worth buying ? I mainly play FPS. PUBG, COD etc ?
With FPS games I would say 240hz QHD would be better. Maybe even look at the blade 18 with the 4070
@@consumertechwarehouse I'm getting 17' 4k 144 hz 3080 for $3700 Aud and 18' 240hz 4070 for $6000 Aud. 🤔
@@consumertechwarehouse thanks! There is no perfect laptop :)
@@rooneyx9761 there isn’t. I wouldn’t need to make this channel if there was one! 😀
If I was mostly gaming on the laptop, I would stick with the sync and qhd
have you knoticed gsync flickering on some games? ive tried escape from tarkov and hunt show down and its like little flickers of texture, so anoying.
I haven’t noticed that. there were occasionally some micro stutters but not flickering of textures. I also didn’t test tarkov
@@consumertechwarehouse no micro stutters here just weird g sync flickering when it’s enabled. Seems to be only on tarkov and hunt show down so far tho

I no longer have it. But I heard it doesn't work. Let me know if you're able to try it out though
Hello and thanks for the video. You mentioned the 4k option doesn’t have gsync. Does that hold true if you use it with an external monitor that has gsync capability? Thanks again.
Hey good question. The native display doesn't have gsync, but you will get gsync through an external monitor
@@consumertechwarehouse Adding to this question any noticeable tearing when playing natively on the 4k panel?
I bought the rtx 3070 ti and 240 hz one 🥺 Didn't receive it yet, is it good? 🥺
Yeah very. Congrats. Let me know your thoughts when you get it
Does the i9 model has a mux switch?
It does! I was really happy with that. Some of the 4K 15 inch models in the past didn’t have one
Can the 4k model run g-sync on an external monitor? I just ordered it and will return it if not
It can through the thunderbolt port
And I don't think Im losing much going from the i9-12900H to the i7-12700H
no matter what i'm dreaming of a 4K display..
GPU's are still a little strained by 4K though. I wish they had Gsync 4K laptops for when fps is low.
@@consumertechwarehouse Thanks for your quick answer!

My ASUS Rog Strix only gets 2 hours not gaming
For the price they are charging I would expect all of the models to be i9
$2800 for a i7 3060 is that a joke?
If I were to actually use a laptop on my lap I'd be using a cooling pad regardless of whether the bottom is metal or plastic.
Which one do you use?

Lol.
There is a rtx 3060/12800/qhd 165hz model in my country which costs 3300 💶 😲 😱
That's nuts. If you're translating the $3300 to US.
Stay tuned

Lets Try Legion 7 with 500nits)
Get an MSI... real performance.. Cinebench 20K and over with current gen models.. and cheaper than Razer.. Razer leaving so much performance on the table and the only possible appeal is for those who have to have a thin laptop. My GT77 is getting 9500 in Cinebench R20.
Yes, R20! That's hysterical that it's getting almost as high in R20 that the Blades get in R23.
My R23 score is 23015
LOL
My 3070ti is beating the 3080ti in Razer. You can get all this in a much slimmer and sleeker package with the GE67 and 77HX. And they still perform amazing. GP67HX also coming, they are great.
I've tested lots of MSIs. I'm using the GE67 right now and rally want to get my hands on a GT77

It's nice to know at least someone got a good QHD model and I do mean that sincerely. Good video, man ♥️
Way better
