    So I'm up binge watching your channel tonight and found this another interesting and useful video. I dive a BP&W and I like my shoulder D rings for clipping off my torch and compass as well as having them available to clip off a camera and keeping a spare double ender to use as a tank banger mostly. So I wear my octo on a bungee necklace. It keeps it close to my body and secure from getting muck inside or dragging the reef. I've thought a few times about getting a little longer hose for it so that in the event I had to share air (never had to) it might help create a little more space between me and a panicked diver. Any thoughts on the matter?

    • @AzulUnlimited
      @AzulUnlimited  4 роки тому

      For BP&W for me the bungee necklace is the best and more confortable option, and also make sense because if you don't have pockets, all the tools, torch etc normally go as you said on the shoulders, so I prefer to leave those D-rings for that propose only and the Oct out of the way. But is a really bas habit to bend the hose and put it inside those D-rings.

      I have a similar rig. For your purposes I'd say stop thinking about the 'octo' and just consider you have 2 second stages, one of which you have to be able to donate. If one is on a bungee round your neck you can't donate it. Remember the one that you have to give to someone, or they are going to rip off you, has to be instantly available. So the one on the necklace is just for you and you donate the one from your mouth. It's then totally straightforward to find the one on your chest and bring it up. This by far the best system, and probably not widely used outside the tech forum as it requires the diver to be happy swapping regs, which surpisingly many are not. The longer hose, to give your buddy some space from you, then has to be on the reg in your mouth, so you just have to make sure the extra length is routed close to your body. But beware, it's then but a short step to a 7 ft 'long hose', a twinset or sidemount. You know you want to!

    seeing the different variations of securing the octopus, should also mention what happens with the houserouting in the different situations. some of them create a massive loop that can be entanglement hazard (which isnt a big deal in open water diving) and also looks pretty stupid with the hose coming off your body that much. also can be a hazard when starting or ending the dive cause of getting entangled on the boat or speedboat =)

    • @AzulUnlimited
      @AzulUnlimited  4 роки тому

      Yeah we are working on a video just for that, the proper position of the gear to avoid entanglements, be more hydrodynamic and avoid damaging the reef.

    Hola!, Excelente vídeo!, esta vez escribiré todo en español. Están épicos esos broches de seguridad, los que suelo usar tienen solo el bolsillo o pocket.
    Quería preguntarte, se siente mucha diferencia al utilizar un bcd en forma de chaleco a uno con alas? ,
    y que tan recomendable es un bcd ligero? se ve muy practico pero no se ve tan resistente.
    cual es tu opinión en este tema. Muchos saludos desde América del sur! =D

    • @AzulUnlimited
      @AzulUnlimited  4 роки тому

      Hola! pues te contestamos en español jejej.... los broches Scubapro son de mis favoritos, super resistentes pero quiero probar pronto los de nuestro compañero, los que hace con la impresora 3D.
      Sobre el BCD la verdad es que si se nota, el chaleco de Alas reparte mucho mejor el aire en su interior y da mas estabilidad, muchos tienen mayor capacidad o volumen de aire (algo a tener en cuenta aqui en Komodo por seguridad) lo único es que algunos son un poco mas pesados dependiendo del backplate que uses y lo segundo es que no tiene bolsillos y todos los complementos como la boya de seguridad etc va en los clips o elásticos que vienen integrados en el arnés.
      Para buzos principiantes un BCD Classico es lo mas comodo pero si eres un buzo activo y con ganas de progresar, un ala es una opción muy buena, si estas pensando en comprar una dímelo y te recomiendo mis favoritas!
      Un saludo.

      @@GeirAlstad I don't think so, I told that maybe some divers may think that adds complexity to their diving. I really think that people should dive as they preffer not as imposed by some thougth's ways.

      @@AzulUnlimited i know I have way less experience than you, or your friends, BUT, the approach to the issue of scuba diving, has to be the same as i follow my dog training career: Knowing a proper system of teaching a dog, from puppy to police attack and drug detection. You must follow one correct way. Diving DIR is what every cave diver must use, so everyone knows the same set of gear, and where it is routed. Diving DIR is learning the set of skills with the most potential of growth, the DIR skills will get you farther, more skills, more control, more safety. Backplae/wing, 7ft hose Primary, short necklace secondary air, proper trim... Cheers! I'ma big fan of your channel!

    bush me now, but get a Scubapro Air Two

    • @AzulUnlimited
      @AzulUnlimited  3 роки тому +1

      That's a great option too, the only problem I see and is because I work with tourism is that most divers are not familiarise with how the Air 2 works, but with a proper buddy check before the dive if you are on a group with new divers should be enough.
      Enjoy your dives and I hope you never use the Air two in a real scenario heheh.
