Venus had a "stare down" when playing Jennifer Capriati at the US open in 2001, I think. Venus was ready to serve and Jennifer was standing at the receiving end but not ready.
Serena has a vicious stare after some points, so she could help Venus.
Swinde Yes, I remember that match. Capriati got up 4-1 in that 1st set. Her, the bias ass crowd and commentators thought she was going to do something that day 😂😂😂
@@Sabior19 4-1 sounds like a really big lead, but with Venus serving it means it is only a single break of serve. Venus only needed to hold her own serve and break Jennifer to get back on serve. I am sure you know that, but many fans that just look at the score do not think about it.
Ohhhhh yesssss that was one of the scariest times I’ve seen Venus on court! She front in’ she definitely got it in her when somebody tries it! Lol
@@swinde True; Capriati didn't have a great first serve so her serve was very breakable and Venus has a great serve. Capriati was never able to beat Venus, even after having 10 match points during that one match.

The match you mention was at Miami in 2001 about a week after the Indian Wells disaster (Well not a total disaster since Serena WON the final against Kim). I think it was actually 8 match points. I remember on one of them Jennifer's box thought she had won, but the ball was ruled out. Seems like it was a tiebreak in the third but I am not sure. I have a VHS tape of the match and I might check it to see.
Venus Williams is quite possibly the best thing in the tennis world.

Okay, all the EleVen Venus clothing line lately has been fire. Venus has truly looked like the alpha of tennis. I especially loved what Venus wore this year when she played her sister Serena in Kentucky. I am sure that Venus has outstanding results and inspiring performances still to show us. However I personally feel that Eric has been a poor match for her and her current game. I appreciate that Venus is willing to try new things and make technical adjustments to her game as her body changes with age and as her opponents on tour also diversify and improve. Horned the proof is in the pudding, and Venus and David Witt were much a way better fit. The results speak for themselves. But there is so much I’m ignorant about, who knows why they parted, and how Eric and Venus work together behind the scenes. Only Venus knows what is best for her. I just find that Eric lacks enthusiasm and awareness. I look forward to Venus giving her all as usual. These are just my opinions, although I hope she reads them 😆 Blessings to all.
