So I already brought up the modern design thing previously (Mario's in game model is his modern/gamecube era on appearence while his artwork looks more like the 64 era), luigi, toads, and boos all look different from the rest of the series (less so the toads but they don't QUITE feel like their gamecube design either), but what i find most interesting is here, Bowser in both art and his model is updated to his current design (which is probably one of the more different ones from n64 era art). I find it Interesting to see how this early in the gamecube era Nintendo seemed to have an idea of changing the art style and how Bowser and in-game mario are already standardized let Luigi is different from how he looks starting from MP4 despite being the main character I see the sequel to sunshine and/or 64 ds arguments, but I always took King Boo as more generically taking revenge On the Bros actions against boos as a whole during their quests to stop Bowser (even though 64 is the only game where they can be easily defeated and otherwise beating them with stars or hammers is rare to do in 3 and world) I guess I also just figured, even pre dark moon and mansion 3 when his crown explictly seems to be the source of his power to do so, King Boo just had the magical ability to turn mario into a painting. EDIT: I just realized the Mario portrait turning into Bowser could be a reference to super Mario 64 when the same happened to the peach portrait .
BlueDino adding onto this, I think Luigi’s Mansion and Melee were the last games Bowser had those 64-era roars as his voice? Sunshine gave him an actual voice actor a year later and that guy went on to do all the Bowser sound effects. So this version of Bowser ends up being a transition between his old and modern designs, kinda fascinating!
Something I want to point out is that Bowser's head has slowly shrank over the years since this game. This is noticeable by comparing this fight with the 3DS version of it
Yeah, I wondered that too about Clairvoya being surprised about Bowser being here saying that "he was soundly defeated". Could it be in a timeline where Bowser was actually killed off for good, and King Boo resurrected him?
I remember this fight taking me so many tries my first time back during childhood. My older brother and I actually ended up using cheatplanet to look up what we had to do in the fight, we had no idea. Even after we knew what to do it was still so hard the first time, we kept taking turns back and forth. One of the more fond memories of my brother and I when we were younger.
I don’t like the theory that Bowser is dead and King boo is bowser’s ghost because it ignores what this fight is actually about. King boo is a spooky trickster, so he puts on a suit of what luigi fears most. Not ghosts or ghouls, but his brother’s nemesis. He lived in his brother’s shadow, and now he’s got to face the fire alone.
And then there's Hidden Mansion King Boo, where 90% of the time, the explosives will explode *before* he sets up an opportunity to reflect them, so you have to back away from them rather than capitalise.
@@uberlord983 Yep, be thankful, even after you clear the game normal or hidden mansion in the remake, you can still skip it. Believe me, I played it a lot and learned more due to the achievements.
The problem with the first theory is that it has been confirmed that while boos are ghosts, they are not “deceased spirit” ghosts but are “mischievous poltergeist” ghosts. Also we’ve seen Bowser be brought back from the dead multiple times. The problem with the second theory is that the King Boo from Sunshine is not the same King Boo from the other games. It is more likely King Boo’s grudge against Mario came from Super Mario 64 DS since that essentially retconned the original SM64, though admittedly even that King Boo being the same one here is debatable.
You should see the PAL hard mode. It has Bowser toss trap bombs as well. Their timer is so short there is no way you'll send them back at him in time. As far as I know, your only clue is that they blink faster. No idea if the 3DS remake brings that back.
Not surprised about this, King Boo is one of the jankiest boss fights I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Tons of hp, Camera is a full on boss itself and the requirements to deal damage are a little insane. Still fun but it can be a slog.
Jeez, this fight is definitely an extreme difficulty spike, mainly due to how close you have to be to pick up the bombs, how you can still get hurt by the explosion when you fire them at Bowser, and the fact that you get attacked while to catch King Boo. Also it seems like fire effect doesn't accurately show where the floor will be heated.
This is in my opinion the hardest final boss fight of any of the Luigi's Mansion games. Especially if you want to get the Gold Portrait. You practically can't take any damage while and with everything being finicky as heck trying to get a chance of doing any damage against King Boo. Yeah it took me a hour or so to get that Gold Painting.
so something that surprises me that they didn't know was a speedrun tactic where doing small elemental puffs (not blasts, puffs), while sucking up boos allows for stun-locking them since starting to suck them freezes them in place for a moment to guarantee at least a little damage
Great attempt at a theory but the boo in sunshine and in Luigi's mansion are completely different. The one in sunshine is just a paint monster made by bowser jr.
Another idea is that Super Mario 64 DS retconned the original, where King Boo was added and Mario defeated him, essentially remaking the timeline. The timeline that really doesn’t exist
I think when King Boo says the Mario bros gave him trouble in the past, he's just referring to them attacking ghost houses and "killing" his subjects. I think Bowser is dead like Clarivoya says, but King Boo is just possessing his body and Bowser is later revived for future games like he was in New Mario DS. E. Gadd has never met Luigi before this game, but knows him in later games even when bowser is around
My own idea for what King Boo is. More so leans to Headcannon than actual cannon. but I like to imagine this king boo is the Big Boo from Mario world and Mario 64. After Bowser got defeated the Big Boo decided to gather up a bunch of the stronger Boo’s to get revenge on Mario. All the while kemek revives Bowser like Bowser Jr does at the end of New Suoer Mario Bros DS.( perhaps in whatever Mario cannon IS, Mario 64 was the 1st time bowser actually died? Idk this comment is spiralling out of control). With a new Army of Boos at his side. He declares himself de facto king of the Boos. Raided E.gadd’s collection for more ghosts and built the Mansion to lure the Mario brothers to him.
@TheRunawayGuys, I personally believe that Sunshine is a dream Mario is having during Mansion. My evidence is: 1) Mario is trapped in the painting and in Sunshine, he has to clean up the paint left by Shadow Mario the paint warps Del Fino. 2) Luigi is nowhere to be seen in Sunshine. 3) When you fight King Boo in Sunshine, it's in the Basement of the Hotel which is huge like the mansion. 4) Shadow Mario uses a paintbrush made by Egad to wreak havoc.
Whoops, I accidentally sent it. But regardless, it's just a headcanon theory I like. There may be more evidence but I lost track of where I was in Chugga's let's play of Sunshine.
Little bit of a personal story here when I played this game. One odd thing I remember thinking when I saw King Boo's health was why it wasn't a even 1000 HP and instead 500 HP. My personal head cannon is Mario didn't get turned into a painting without a fight and managed to take down half of King Boo's life bar before being bested by him. Somehow my child's mind even remembered E Gadd saying something similar to give life to my theory... not sure why I remembered that now.
While those are some interesting theories, my headcanon has always been that the "Bowser" you fight in this game isn't the real Bowser but some kind of suit or manifestation that King Boo created. I mean, King Boo seems to understand that Luigi is easily frightened and what would be more frightening than having to face the terror of the Mushroom Kingdom and the threat your big bro has so much trouble with? It's psychological warfare on King Boo's part and this also kind of explains why this Bowser is able to do things the real Bowser (as far as I know) can't do; like create and throw giant explosives or (outside of Bowser's Inside Story at least) inhale strong enough to suck Luigi in. It's King Boo trying to make his fake Bowser seem even more terrifying to Luigi. Anyway, great job Tim. King Boo/Bowser is an incredibly tough fight given Luigi's movement and the camera angles so getting to 50% on your third try is huge. You'll definitely have it by next time.
Pro Tip: There's last minute treasure to be found in the Secret Altar. The 10th and final Sapphire can be found in the central chandelier. The two purple incense torches on the right give money and a gold bar when vacuumed.
For TRG You know when you go into king boos room? Did you know if you go to the side and check the fountains and stuff you'll find something good. But don't start the king boo cutscene.
I always saw the stuff like “mario 3 is a stage play” and “paper Mario (well the first three anyway) is just a story book.” as we are playing a video game adaptation of a stage play/children’s book adaption of the real Events of Mario adventures. Because I’m silly and want my video game Italian Plumber to actually done cool things.
Btw to touch on the "why is Bowser here" thing. I think the answer is the most simple. It's an illusion. You talked earlier on how the mansion is an illusion, why not the Bowser we see here? If anything Bowser probably would be one of Luigi's greatest fears and it behaves entirely unlike the Bowser we know traditionally (aside from breathing fire I guess). It's not even really Bowser, it's more like a projection or suit for King Boo to fight from, but even if it WERE Bowser why is it spitting out ice with its disembodied head?
If I remember correctly, there's actually a gemstone in the chandelier in front of the door in King Boo's room. Also, VanGore was foreshadowed by E-Gad in one of his dialogues after getting a boo.
Incoming face palms at how long this boss fight will take. Boolossus had at least two deaths, so we can expect at least that much for King Boo in his Bowser Suit. Hmm... I wonder if the finale will include a pun relating to how Emile was a voice actor in Zelda Universe's Majora's Mask 20th Anniversary project. "Dawn of a New Day", "King Boo's Terrible Fate", or "Tim-de-Go-Gos to Victory" are all possibilities.
I think the better theory is that Super Mario 64 DS is the first time Mario and Luigi met King Boo and he’s getting revenge on the two from that encounter.
0:16 So I'd like to point out some immediate things: 1. The Boo Radar is dead silent, & King Boo is right there. My theory is that King Boo's spiritual energy, capable of materializing the entire mansion, overclocks the radar, making it crash. 2. This room has possibly the most cruel Stone in the game. Yes, merely 5ft. away from the final boss, is the 10th Sapphire. 3. You see that mirror on the right? That mirror is the only one in the game that's usable from 2 different rooms. If you win the GB Horror out the lionhead peephole in the Bottom of the Well, you can use that mirror! Its not useful, but you can do that. 1:19 See, I doubt that King Boo, because why else would Mario painting be in the center of the altar, & not have enough room for a 2nd painting? 1:45 Can we talk about how King Boo is actually kinda humble here? The boos aren't his minions, they aren't his people, they're his friends. 2:07 I'd like to point out the symbolic plot twist in this moment: The entire game, Luigi has been sucking up ghosts non-stop. But now, the tables have turned, & Luigi is the one being sucked up by a ghost. 3:04 Wait, that only does 10? I thought every hit of his did 20 flat. 4:30 As someone who's been hit in the balls with a spiked ball(not nearly as bad as it sounds), I can attest that it hurts like hell. 4:52 Yeah, this isn't King Boo playing around. He's genuinely trying to kill you at this point, & won't waste any effort trying to do so. 5:31 I'm sorry, what was the hitbox on that fire? I know its long-range, but that's a bit of a stretch, game! 6:01 But what if Big Boo is actually King Boo, just before he became king? They even have a similar bluish coloring to their bodies. 6:47 I thought that was only SMB3? 11:02 Bowser alone makes Fire the worst elemental damage in the game, because he can burn you with fire, stun you, then do the suction attack, which pierces I-frames. 12:21 Yeah, the pillars are both a blessing & curse in this fight, because while you can use them to wait out Bowser throwing the spike balls, you'll have to navigate around them or risk the spikes blowing up in your face. 13:28 Thank you Dan for editing out the walk to King Boo. I know it doesn't seem like much, but that walk is slow & tedious. 13:46 NCS for Dude Perfect, anyone? 14:41 Had I not watched a parody video of this game, I would've done the same thing first, then I got the idea to do that, & was punished horribly for it. 14:48 Yeah, the tail does 20 damage in standard Mansion, tying with Biff Atlas for most damage in 1 single attack. So far Tim's picked up the King Boo fight pretty well, but the best advice for this fight is to keep it as horizontal as possible. Avoid letting Bowser attack towards the back of the roof, as depth perception isn't exactly friendly in this game.
I just played Luigi's Mansion recently for the first time in a while and I only dies once and it was too this Boss fight. Boolossus gave me trouble and I nearly died to it but managed to survive. This is from some one who knew what to do in both cases so I am not surprised that you died here.
There’s also one theory that states that Bowser died in one game (I don’t remember which one) and King Boo “resurrected” him by possessing his corpse. From Luigi’s Mansion and on, every time Mario fights Bowser, it’s just King Boo possessing him, not the original Bowser
I only got 1 thing to say is that they keep forgetting the last sapphire stone and it is in the chandelier in the Secret Alter, before you get any closer to king boo.
Theory: Luigi's Mansion takes place after the events of the Super Mario Brothers Super Show, as Mario and Luigi are supposedly in the Mushroom Kingdom as we get a letter from Peach and see various Toads, despite the otherwise unfamiliar world and characters. This theory is supported by E. Gadd supplying Shadow Mario/Bowser Jr. with his paintbrush in Super Mario Sunshine, as that appears to take place in the same world. Also, Sticker Star, Color Splash, and The Origami King all take place in a different continuity from one another and the first three Paper Mario's, as Bob-Ombs in the last entry all die upon explosion and some other shit whatever I don't really care.
About Jon’s theory about the characters being actors and that’s why they’re willing to go karting and play sports with each other. I don’t really see it that way. I see it as Bowser trying to prove that he’s better than Mario by competing in races and sports.

I find it Interesting to see how this early in the gamecube era Nintendo seemed to have an idea of changing the art style and how Bowser and in-game mario are already standardized let Luigi is different from how he looks starting from MP4 despite being the main character
I see the sequel to sunshine and/or 64 ds arguments, but I always took King Boo as more generically taking revenge On the Bros actions against boos as a whole during their quests to stop Bowser (even though 64 is the only game where they can be easily defeated and otherwise beating them with stars or hammers is rare to do in 3 and world)
I guess I also just figured, even pre dark moon and mansion 3 when his crown explictly seems to be the source of his power to do so, King Boo just had the magical ability to turn mario into a painting.
This is noticeable by comparing this fight with the 3DS version of it
Jon & Chugga doing their best AC villager impressions
Yeah, I wondered that too about Clairvoya being surprised about Bowser being here saying that "he was soundly defeated". Could it be in a timeline where Bowser was actually killed off for good, and King Boo resurrected him?
Luigi was bamboozled haha....in other news this is a great Let's play and I plan on watching it again when October comes around.
You mean bam*BOO*zled?
Don't you mean Smeckldorfed? And I know you're probably thinking "That's not even a word", and I'll agrees with ya on that.
@@JCBro-yg8vd WE'VE BEEN DUPED!
Shouldn't this comment be on the finale?
I remember this fight taking me so many tries my first time back during childhood. My older brother and I actually ended up using cheatplanet to look up what we had to do in the fight, we had no idea. Even after we knew what to do it was still so hard the first time, we kept taking turns back and forth. One of the more fond memories of my brother and I when we were younger.
Bowser was a Heartless all along!
Ah, the Bowser Suit! My favorite.
Emile forgot to point Tim towards all the treasure in King Boo's room.
That said, I do love these blind LPs.
I also think the same.
Let's Stop King Boo's Ghoulish Plan. GO TIM!!
i'm with him
5:42
Luigi just got eaten! That was hilariously twisted.
Hooray! Our Bowser X Luigi vore arts are canon now!
I find it more ironic, since Luigi's been sucking up dead things the entire game, & now that he's died, he himself is being sucked up.
And then there's Hidden Mansion King Boo, where 90% of the time, the explosives will explode *before* he sets up an opportunity to reflect them, so you have to back away from them rather than capitalise.
It took me forever to wise up, the first few times I fought that version x)
"Fortunately in the remake, this cutscene is skippable, also there is a gem in the hidden altar if you shake the chandelier."
Hearing that you can skip that cutscene in the remake made my day in a way I didn't even know could be made.
@@uberlord983 Yep, be thankful, even after you clear the game normal or hidden mansion in the remake, you can still skip it. Believe me, I played it a lot and learned more due to the achievements.
In SMB64 the big boo is king boo, it was just messed up in the localization so mario did defeat king boo before SM sunshine
So, "[Finale]" isn't in the episode name.
Looks like Tim is in for a Bad Time.
Smart enemies make difficult bosses.
Who would've thought?
You should see the PAL hard mode.
It has Bowser toss trap bombs as well. Their timer is so short there is no way you'll send them back at him in time. As far as I know, your only clue is that they blink faster.
No idea if the 3DS remake brings that back.
@@VonFirflirch See, that sounds cool, but Boolossus PAL sounded cool, then I saw footage of it, so I don't know...
@@uberlord983
I mean, it adds to the fight, so I think it is.
13:12 damnit Zelda! I thought we took care of your smoking addiction
Next title better be called "King among Boos 2: Electric Boogaloo" or im unsubbing
Knowing chugga he is prob gonna name it like a pun "[Finale] - Heading toward a new day"
You wach Hermitecraft?
You better unsub now, the finale its just called like that, FINALE.
5:35, Did you guys see what happened after Luigi Passing out? Right after Luigi falls Bowser ate him! That's scary!
Yeah, Jon. Mario 3 is the only stageplay. The other games are canon, whereas the sports games are not.
so something that surprises me that they didn't know was a speedrun tactic where doing small elemental puffs (not blasts, puffs), while sucking up boos allows for stun-locking them since starting to suck them freezes them in place for a moment to guarantee at least a little damage
7:36 13:28 you guys had he rolling on the floor xD
Great attempt at a theory but the boo in sunshine and in Luigi's mansion are completely different. The one in sunshine is just a paint monster made by bowser jr.
Welcome to Hell Luigi, Population King Boo and his Robotic Bowser suit.
Another idea is that Super Mario 64 DS retconned the original, where King Boo was added and Mario defeated him, essentially remaking the timeline. The timeline that really doesn’t exist
5:50 - What can I say, we were having fun in that Casino! Stupid Mario, always ruining the fun...
I mean, Luigi IS the one who works at the casino in SM64DS for a reason...
This boss fight took me a few tries. So I can understand Tim having trouble.
Watching Tim play this makes me want to try Luigi's Mansion again
i was under the impression Bowser bit the dust at the end of 64 and he's just. resurrected here. man's a wizard, he does what he wants
You thought it was the final episode, but it was me! The fail episode! (love ya Tim)
I actually really like this fight!
Same, love the music, too.
@@VonFirflirch It's really good!!
LAUNCH TITLE FOR THE GAMECUBE
13:46 I didn't even know the bomb could do that.
Was not expecting to hear DJ Okawari referenced in the first 10 seconds of the video, but it was a pleasant surprise.
@TheRunawayGuys, I personally believe that Sunshine is a dream Mario is having during Mansion. My evidence is:
1) Mario is trapped in the painting and in Sunshine, he has to clean up the paint left by Shadow Mario the paint warps Del Fino.
I like the idea of all Mario titles being stage plays. Some franchises just don't need a canon timeline.
"Were fighting balls to balls"
-Emile 2020
The two purple incense torches on the right give money and a gold bar when vacuumed.
that third attempt was nice, hoping to see him win it in the next vid.
5:43 😂😂😂😂😂. I have never seen that. There all calm
For TRG
You know when you go into king boos room? Did you know if you go to the side and check the fountains and stuff you'll find something good. But don't start the king boo cutscene.
I always saw the stuff like “mario 3 is a stage play” and “paper Mario (well the first three anyway) is just a story book.” as we are playing a video game adaptation of a stage play/children’s book adaption of the real Events of Mario adventures. Because I’m silly and want my video game Italian Plumber to actually done cool things.
Jon: Mario has become Bowser!
Jon, he won't become Bowser for another 16 years
I always thought Big Boo from Mario 64 was King Boo here and he had only recently been king by the time this game happened.
“Hey Luigi! Ya like vore?”
“No...”
“Too bad! Schlooorp”
Starting the LP talking about ScottFalco's animation, & ending it talking about ScottFalco's animation. We truly have come full circle.
There's gems in the Chandeliers, so don't go straight for King Boo.
I think the better theory is that Super Mario 64 DS is the first time Mario and Luigi met King Boo and he’s getting revenge on the two from that encounter.
I was NOT expecting Bowser's head to come off!
0:16 So I'd like to point out some immediate things:
Chugga keeps forgetting to tell Tim that if you suck on the Chandelier in the Secret Alter, you get a Sapphire.
5:40 PFFFT!!! Luigi just got eaten!
My theory with King Boo is that Mario caused him trouble in the past indirectly by defeating his lackeys like Big Boo in Mario World and Mario 64.
And so, it all comes down to this...
I always assumed it was just a Bowser robot that King Boo was using.
King Boo's canonical first appearance was in Super Mario 64 DS. Yes, I know he's called Big Boo in that game. It's a mistranslation.
Luigi is ready
About Jon’s theory about the characters being actors and that’s why they’re willing to go karting and play sports with each other. I don’t really see it that way. I see it as Bowser trying to prove that he’s better than Mario by competing in races and sports.
Well, _Super Mario Bros. 3_ was supposed to be like a stage production
