for me nix packagemanager has been a (game)change in how I see software installs and packagemanagers. I 'm still learning and fresh to it (no flakes yet) but the result for me anyway is nothing short of mindblowing. just one shell.nix file , the ease of install is just f*****g brilliant. Bye apt, pacman, dnf, yum etc. well most of it anyway. Just installed a fresh copy of Manjaro today, did a pacman update, installed nix and Bob's my uncle.
@@matthewcroughan yes, I have it, but vscode haskell extension is using ghcup. Every time I open vscode, it tries to download ghcup because it cannot find it on my system

Yeah, though the demos didn't really fail, they are just network and cpu limited. I think I'll be a bit smarter next time and run more infrastructure on my laptop locally. A faster laptop also would help with eval time :D
love Matthew's presentations, always delivers
I think I am falling in love with this Matthew guy.
I'm so glad you're a part of Nix, Matthew. :) Just, so happy you're here doing cool shit, and what another great talk. Fan-freaking-tastic. Inspiring.

Great talk! I'll watch it again as I'm sure there are things I missed, but I'll definiltely be using nixos-anywhere for my VMs in the future.
NIX NIX NIX!!!
I use NixOS btw
Fantastic as usual
This guy inspires me to use Nix :)
Yooo the blue shirt guy with the sunglasses at 47:37 is my manager!

What phone are you using?
Go on mate
Nice
I use NixOS, but struggle with installing/configuring GHCup
Because you don't need ghcup on NixOS. Simply grab the compiler, without using ghcup.

Seems even nixos is not safe from the demo gods.
