      I often forget there's even a "thumb up/down". But when I remember I try and go back to vids I watched and "mass like" them at once.
      They should change it to a rating out of 5 or somthing, in my opinion.
      And I agree, this guy/channel is just great.
      Peace.

    I know nothing about this but on my LED light I have an a driver and one day I decided to adjust them both and then I was worried that I took it out of this natural setting but after watching this video I understand a little more thank you very much so where you explain things I really think I can learn to do this so I'm going to as many of your videos as I can thanks

    I dim my lights with the current pot and max out the voltage pot, my lights are 420w 36v and use a hlg185h36a, i run them at about 170w at the wall. Its all nice and cool.

    I may be wrong but as I understand it these use PWM for power modulation. So when you say its reducing the voltage or current, are you talking about average voltage and current? I ask because I'm planning on using one of these to power and control a load that requires a specific voltage to operate correctly. So if the peak voltage doesn't change but the average does that should work form me.

    Very informative and helped me a lot understand better but I’m still having trouble with my led build, I bought meanwells 200w 286v 700ma dimmable driver and still confused on how many LED’s I can run, 286v combined led or .7amps worth of LED’s?

    If you use the pots, then can you get the resistance dimming start from the beginning on its travel?

    So without a multi-meter and using a plug in wattmeter,what would be the best technique to dim with a type A,is it to simply turn the current pot up and dim with the voltage pot?.Will there be fluctuating watts at the wattmeter or a time period for adjustment until its capped in this way?
    Thanks for sharing all the great info :)

  • @circle4922
    @circle4922 4 роки тому +1

    23:45 Should say the "Voltage Pot", not the "Current Pot". Right?
    Edit: Oh.. maybe not. But I thought the whole objective here was to set the voltage pot just below/at what the boards require, to avoid thermal runaway.

    Hey, thanks for all this info it's very helpful. I learned so much. I do have one question... Out of Meanwell drivers, which one has the most power? I'm trying to design my lights and bought 2 HLG480-2100B and 12, 36v cree cxb3590 was told to wire in series and nothing else brighter. Well at their figure I'll need 4 more Meanwell HLG480-2100B to power 24 more cree cxb3590 COBs does that sound right to you?

      I just clicked my notifications to respond to a comment grononymous left (in response to that clown who said he'd "created the perfect spectrum LED grow light" bs) and both comments are gone. I don't see any of it.

      I think the clown who made that "I desinged a grow light" comment deleted his original comment? And maybe that deleted all responses to it?
      I made a comment regarding the facts of the "legalization" bullshit in Canada and LED-G didn't delete that..so I just don't see him deleting a comment from you or I saying not much of anything at all.
      Peace.

    does the LED board absolutely have to be on the heatsink, would it function as it should if a board were off the heatsink by about 2.5 inches? and with a fan or two blowing on the sections that are off the heatsink.
    this question is for anyone to answer!

    I’m in a situation where I have an HLG-320H-12A that I want to feed a steady 12V to a controller board and have designed so that the led strips should not draw more current than it is rated for.
    So in this case I should max out the Io and then adjust the Vo to 12V and in theory it should stay at 12V and the current will change accordingly (as default is Constant Voltage) - correct?

    • @LEDGardener
      @LEDGardener  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah if the controller wants constant 12V, that’s what I’d do

    Does the Pot help you save electricity in both CC and CV? or are the drivers always pulling 600watts from the wall? Basically will I see a difference in my bill by dimming or not?

    • @LEDGardener
      @LEDGardener  5 років тому

      insidejobSEP11 yes, dimming will reduce the amount of input power.

    Love your content, exactly what I'm looking into right now! +1 Subscribtion
    I try to build my own PCB relfow "quantum board" but I have a problem deciding how to drive and wire. I want a board with mostly white but also blue and red in the main circuit plus far red in an extended circuit.
    My problem now is: can I drive the whole board with one driver and what to look out for regards different LED types (wavelenght)?
    Can I wire in a way that I have the whites all in parallel series (let's say 5 series of 15x 3V = 45V parallel to oneanother), and then the blue and red in series of (X)x (Y)V = 45V?
    Does everie series have to draw the same current or just need around the same Voltage (with maybe a resistor) and can vary in A, like differen V LEDs with the same A in series?
    For now I'm thinking Meanwell CV A type driver.
    Or maybe someone has a source where to look it up?
    (sorry for double post)

    Hey dude, i bought a qb 304 Kit with a hlg 240h-C2100B and 2 x QB 304. I install a Potentiometer, now i can dim it from 250w to 9 w.
    They run in paralel wiring, i thing its better. What do you think?

      A kilowatt meter is a great thing to have though, I don't think they cost but $20-25 maybe? And a (cheap?) multi-meter can be had for the same. Good enough to start off with :)
      Just FYI.

    Can I use the driver (HLG-480H-24B) for 4 quantum boards? What quantum boards would be suitable for this? 120W each I would think. I guess the 24 is the output the driver gives, does the light need to be 24V too then?
    The driver I'm looking at.

      Figure out which boards you want to run and then match the driver to it. Chances are you will need a driver with a higher voltage. Pick your boards and I will suggest a driver.
