It’s not the coach, It’s all on Athing Mu. She decided not to run in any 800m races before the World Champs (only ran the 1500m at the trials). She wasn’t injured by said she wasn’t enjoying the sport which is fair enough. The issue is that you need to build on the previous year and she didn’t do that. This season, she had an injury, fell at the trials and that was it.
The four contenders for the gold medal: Keely Hodgkinson. Mary Moraa. Phoebe Gill. Gabriela Gajanova. Gabriela Gajanova is one to keep an eye on in the Olympic 800m final. She was running much faster than Hodgkinson in the final 50 metres of the European championship and nearly caught Keely on the finish line. Gajanova is the dark horse in the 800 metres, she's a real threat for the gold medal.
Keely wasn't even feeling well that's why Gajanova caught her up. This is going to be one of the races of the Olympics. Mary Moraa worries me but Keely can do it!
