I like how you drew her. Your style is so much more natural and uncomplicated than some.

If the distances and proportions are off on the face, the likeness is lost. Your lessons help with all these important investigations. A worthy pursuit. lovely work thanks.

Thanks, Daniel! Yes, those micro-distances are huge when trying to capture likeness. I appreciate your comment.

Great content. Recommend sharpening pencils in the atelier manner for greater expression.

I would agree %100 percent , about the advantages of using Statues as a referance, I| use them often myself,
but the one youve chosen looks blurred not very defined & very shiny, like wax or Soap.

Nigel, good eye! Yes, I purposely chose a less detailed statue for this lesson. When honing portrait drawing skills, it is crucial to look at the whole, first and foremost. This was my way of removing the temptation of focusing on details too soon.

It’s a Japanese style brush, so I pronounce it the way they do, “ha-kay”. But it might be completely acceptable pronounced other ways.

Aah- thank you! I love the brushes, but I've never known how to say it. Now I just wonder, which part of the word gets the emphasis; "HA-kay" or "ha-KAY"?

The "dark" values on the face are too light, the contrast with the background look too sharp
