  • Complete Installation of Weather Guards Extra Wide Tool Chest Box in our 2021 Ford Superduty F450 Powerstroke. We used to have a saddle box but had to remove it when we got our new 5th wheel camper toyhauler.

Thank you for sharing, this video is the only video on UA-cam that shows how to properly used the fasteners.

Looks good, I just don't want to have to climb in the back of the truck every time I want something in the box. I have future plans to pull a 5th wheel so want to plan for it now. I do like the idea of being able to use a tonneau cover over the top of the in bed box however. I see an Access cover that can work with a toolbox, but it sounds like toolbox choice may be limited. That is the direction I am leaning right now is a box that can work with a cover and a 5th wheel will clear it.

Those things you call 'Rivnuts' are actually called "Cross Nuts". Rivet nuts need a riveting tool to mechanically press the rivet into place. Whereas the Cross Nuts have slots cut into the shank of the rivet in a cross pattern. In some cases they are even 'Pre-Bulbed' so that far less force is needed to press the threaded insert into place (though require a larger hole be drilled). The benefit of the Cross Nut is that it just needs a mandrel and a bolt to press into place. In either case, a rivet/crossnut is a good option for installing a threaded insert into a blind hole.

What would really be cool is a aux fuel tank/toolbox!

RDS makes them, some even come with fuel nozzle/pump. Id love one but they are pricey at around 2300-2800.00

Wonder if using rubber stripping between the toolbox and the bed rail would help from chafing the bed with vibration?

Can you still see the gooseneck ball in the camera or dose the toolbox block it?

Yes you can see it clearly not like the saddle box's.

Nice tool chest. I bought a used 664 over 20 years ago about time to replace it. Replaced the lock and shocks, added work lights under the lid and painted black, connected the lights to my up-fitter switch in 2015 F350. The welds in the hinge are just now starting to break but still a good tool chest. I would like to get the 684 and would like to add a fuel transfer tank when I get my F450, How much space do you have from the end of the tool chest to the beginning of the wheel wells?

Yes I love the chest style. The extra wide has roughly 8-10 Inches before the wheel wells

Any chance you have the mounting hardware part number? I inherited a box from my father in law and he apparently didn't mount it since in had a bedslider in the bed. I keep getting the runaround from WeatherGuard giving me incorrect part numbers. Thanks in advance.

Does your bed have the small bulges in each front corner?
