  • Japanese Billions $ 6th Generation Fighter Jet Shocked Russia and China
Lethal, intelligent, and out to prove a point, Japan’s sixth-generation F-X fighter is all it takes to make Japan a world power again. A fighter with almost no interest in multirole capabilities - after all, Japan already has $23 billion worth of American multirole F-35 Lightning IIs, the F-X is instead born out of the need for an air superiority fighter. So superior, in fact, that both the US and the UK could be making plans to join the program and form a united sixth-generation program.

Orbit is the new high ground, these super expensive manned fighters will go the way of the cavalry charge during the opening stages of WW1. Ukraine is showing a few guys with drones can be quite an effective "Air Force".

@@ameritoast5174 Yep, it came to the politics of spreading out contracts in the end and how NG had their hands full with the B-2 program Also the Navy now uses cruise and ballistic missiles for their long range strike capability in contested areas. The cost involved in buying and maintaining the YF-23 (which in truth would just become obsolete in less than 10 years after ground based radar and orbital systems were upgraded) to replace the F-14 was absorbed into better radar and targeting systems for carrier strike group based defenses. Though yes with an increased range the YF-23 would have been a good replacement to keep the carriers further from land.
Though I'm sure it came down to NG insistence it being called the Black Widow II instead of another catch "cat" name like Stealthcat!

I know about certain restrictions when it comes to defense, stealth technology in particular. Japan is sort of a special case. But I can't think of any other major examples of this. There's a lot to gain from exporting advanced technologies, and not just monetarily.
Looking at the technologies used by Japan, the UK, the US, and many allies, there's a whole lot of examples of us sharing technology quite liberally and intentionally. We spend a fortune as taxpayers on defense and R&D, and have a collective understanding as a people that if anything were to ever happen to Japan or the UK, and our help was needed and requested, we'd drop everything and get there as quick as possible.
I don't think the US can be faulted on this one. The UK and Japan are our direct peers, and already make incredible technologies on their own, and have been doing so since way before we existed. Both nations are currently developing 6th generation fighters independently.
I want to see the UK and Japan make as amazing stuff as there is possible! It strengthens all of us, and technology is freaking cool!

This is literally a reskinned Northrop YF-23. That and word is its Lockheed Martin that's helping Japan step by step to develop its upcoming stealth fighter. Even the Mitsubishi built F-2 is a derivative of the F-16 Viper. You don't just make a competent and compelling 5th or 6th generation fighter out of nothing. That's why it took a ton of R&D, over a decade and the financial backing of 4 countries to make a very competitive 4th gen fighter like the Typhoon. I doubt Japan has anywhere near the capital and research staff to out do Germany, Italy, Great Britain and Spain combined.

Stealth is not invisible to radar. It is low observable, that is; it enable you to reduce the time and distance to detection and increase the difficulty in tracking if detected. Thus making the aircraft hard to kill.
Stealth makes you hard to detect, if detected hard to track, if track difficult to kill.

However I have put them is to deep perspective
On Japan's side, they are more looking like their former ally Germany in WWII. as you said from the top V of the video .
US is inspired as Japan and they'll definitely achieve it.
