Salam guys! Sneako is currently in Duabi and visit the middle east with his friend the Warner. I was wondering if you could contact him and set up a podcast!
The discussion from 55 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes or so really highlights the need for critical thinking within the Muslim masses. Muslims need to be able to investigate, not take everything at face value, and have nuance for various matters (especially on social media).
This was such an enjoyable episode, especially the dynamics between all the panelists. Great discussion on this. My local city is starting to employ Imams that grew up in the city. Curious to see what effect that will have.
I agree with the problem with corporatizing Imams , but the financial incentives for Imams especially homegrown Imams I believe requires a level of sincerity and self sacrifice generally speaking. In the west it doesn't take much to upskill and go back in the work force and earn a respectable income. There maybe an argument for imported imams. The main issue is freelance imams , celebrity culture , unregulated honorariums....IMO The local Imam deserves the least criticism when it comes to conflict of interest.
When it comes to dawah, I find this verse really motivational for me (Quran 41:33) "And whose words are better than someone who calls ˹others˺ to Allah, does good, and says, “I am truly one of those who submit.”
In a masjid in the uk it wasnt the uncles who were running the masjid but those young ones bought up in the uk. The problem was they ran the masjid as a business and still controlled the imaams as slaves. Literally laid down the law to any imaam dont talk to this person dont do this do this. Many were let go and still to this day they dont have a permanent imaam. Due to the board members desire for utmost control. The community suffered as no imaam to ask questions or do any community activities.
Jazakallah for sharing this bro. I’d like to know more if you find time. What kind of control would be imposed on the imams in terms of doing things and speaking to certain people, could you elaborate? Also what do you mean by running it like a business? Were board members making money from themselves somehow? Also what reason did the ones running the masjid have to restrict community engagement/activities? This is a very unfamiliar dynamic to me and I don’t really know much about the behind the scenes of any masjid so would appreciate your input
A very engaging episode 🔥 These are discussions we don’t often have in our community and people shy away from addressing. JazakumAllah khairun for always bringing the unfiltered Haqq
Imams are slaves only to the jinn they are the blind leading the blind . Have you heard of the Pied Piper. The old rhyme goes like this …. And they Danced Danced Danced to the Waters Edge on his melody so sweetly / Then he waded them in to the River Stix where he drowned each one Completely. The Hamelin Jinn .
Western Muslims keep trying to fight this fantastical dynamism like little children trying to explain their asininity. Maybe, just maybe, you'd benefit from an external observer to save you from your blind spots and tunnel vision. I grew up in the West; then I also grew up. Also, Farid is a Bahraini who is in touch with the West...this is a global monoculture. How's that for dynamism?

It's true, we have an honored position by being Muslim and an obligation to uphold
Interesting discussion so far! Jazakum Allah khair

This is unfortunate, but give more reason why these conversations, albeit uncomfortable at times, need to be happening.

...no?
Thats a praiseworthy concern. May Allah promote videos anything beneficial without music or annoyingly unnecessary nasheeds.

Dallas, Texas area, we are lucky to have 3 major mosques headed by 3 elite imams..including Omar Suleiman, Yasir Qadhi.
Is that a joke?
@@xeta180
Why do you think it’s a joke?
They're elitist imams, not elite imams homie
Im from Dallas as well
But no imams here grow the beard properly, save a few, and few who do arent super sufis

Correction: Ustad Adnan, a masjid from my knowledge, remains a masjid even with no dawah or revert activities.

The guy from UAE is annoying. He doesn't understand the dynamics of the West at all
