I turned my drummer onto this vid - I'm a bass player and we both agreed, great music, but limited and playing to a drum machine is 'easy' and it doesnt catch your eye and do a roll - however it wont get pissed, crash the van and steal your buds either . These guys would be even Better with a rythm section.
what screw them up internationally was the lack of international energy! the French want to see the singer doing parkour man! come on Kiwis! We need to amp it up, its not like we lack talent, we just need to start shoving it into peoples faces! we should be sexy and we know it! lol
@funkyfaruk - no drummer, no bass player - I really like the music but a drum machine doesnt push and pull like a rhythm section so theyre . . . .always on time, like . . . . reggae for the rave generation? - still great music, but . . like pizza without cheese.
@treborif Thats a good way of looking at it. I was a bit disappointed at first but you know I actually think they are better because of it in a way. It makes their tunes limitless. They could possibly still get a drummer if they kept a sampler/DJ
@tonganrebel I've seen them live half a dozen times. He grooves as only a white bloke with no shame can. Last time I saw them at a festival in ChCh he had his kid on stage dressed up like him with a toy trombone. Brilliant.
