The last time I played this game was probably over 25 years ago. With that said, I played this so many times that I could probably solve every puzzle from memory. I bet I can still navigate the catacombs and solve most of the cliff puzzles (though I might have trouble with the Winged Ones' alphabet puzzles without a guide).

The Greek mythology music is some of the best ancient Greek sounding stuff you can find and includes some of the best soundtracks in the game. They really got the mythological Greek & Celtic stuff down for this game.
For the most part, its pretty decent and many songs are on point. I appreciate that whoever remade these songs had very good quality sample libraries and correctly reassigned the parts with the right instruments to stay true to the feel of the source material. Its clear that they took their time on each song, and it shows. There wasn't anything bad or misguided sounding, and with the above being said, my 0.02 criticism is entirely subjective and only intended constructively. I can best describe my nitpicks as slight imbalances with the volume and expression on a few of the instruments in a few of my favorite songs. trumpet is very on point, the pluck on the harp arpeggio is a bit low in the mix for me. I tend to use the EastWest libraries and Hollywood Harp Diamond makes it a bit easier to get the right expression, as harps can be difficult to cut through the mix. In the Serving Girl song 13:57 the guitars pluck was a bit strong on the expression, as was the volume of the percussion at 14:52. -- But again, in terms of very minor imbalances. I won't nitpick anything else, as these are the only issues I'm hearing that I myself might adjust. Overall 8.5 out of 10
This is the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. So happy I stumbled upon this remastering! I particularly like Nightmare, it sounds amazing now. Might there be a way to download these by any chance?
Have to agree in full. Nightmare is breathtakingly beautiful, in a haunting sort of way. This entire remastering is absolutely incredible and masterfully done. And indeed brings back fond memories of my early teenage years playing through Kings Quest 6 (Although I've played almost all of the series bar the final entry.)
This made my day. It's the best remake of old game music I think I've ever heard. Usually they aren't accurate at ALL. How did you guys get it perfect?
@@Abelhawk Cool to see you here! However, I think I heard they are also using proprietary neural networks to enhance the tracks, so it's probably more than just good instruments.
There are a few cutscenes that were limited by the graphics tech of the time that could benefit from a proper HD remaster. One that comes to mind is the flight to an from the Realm of the Dead. The lore and wiki says the Isle of the Dead lies beyond the so called Edge of the World, which is why Alex needed Nightmare to reach it. The animators had trouble showing that, and so the finished cutscene just makes it look like the Isle/Dead could be reached by ship.
One of my pet peeves: If the melody to Jollo's waltz has a pickup note, then it should also have the pickup note when it is repeated. That is an oversight the original game music sequencers made. I do not believe that it was a conscious decision, as that single note should not have taken up much space

In the Arch Druid song, the marimba never sounds as though it is playing the right notes. Its notes should all be C’s and G’s. I’m fairly certain that the top note here is a B, but it should be a C, and I can’t hear the low and middle notes.
"The Ferryman" at 17.24 is the same tune appearing in Monkey Island 2 (which came out the year before), when meeting Rum Rogers. Is it a traditional melody or something?
Can you please do the Castle Upstairs theme? It plays in the upstairs castle halls during the short path. It is the only track that cannot be heard if the long path is taken. Nonetheless, as a piece of music, it is more majestic than the castle basement theme, and I feel it should be included as a bonus track.
Second this and also would add it'd be nice to have the dedicated game over song (short version of 39. Underworld Entrance). Great job on whomever put this remaster together!
This was the best Kings Quest game by far. The voice acting, the plot, the multiple endings, and especially the music.
Nightmare (#36) is honestly one of the prettiest songs in a game ever. Sooo good.
Lord of the Dead is still one of my favorite moments in gaming. And it's captured beautifully here.
WOW Arch Druid is like a whole new track. Sounds INCREDIBLE.
Song Of The Nightingale is beautiful.
it's like hearing a actual movie score.
Amazing! So true to the original score. Tripping through my childhood :)
My god this is amazing. The incredible amount of work that went into this deserves many accolades. A+ 5 stars. I can die happy now.

@John Smith hey, something that works for once, thanks!
This made my day. It's the best remake of old game music I think I've ever heard. Usually they aren't accurate at ALL. How did you guys get it perfect?
They just played the original files with better quality synthesized instruments. They didn't remake them or anything.

REMAKE THE GAME IN HD!
It’s perfect the way it be

Thank you for making this! It's amazing!
Does LiveMIDI not have a gunshot sound effect? It’s missing a gunshot / cannon sound effect when the magic mirror activates at 1:35.

This is awesome but I feel like it's missing bass. Like, where is the low end?

Yes. Blow the Man Down.

Would be nice to know, which GM device or soundfont has been used to get this sound fidelity ...
Sounds like an MT32
The bass sounds like a floppy drive...
Definitely sounds better than the general MIDI. But I'm going to have to say it's overall not as good as the Roland MT-32 version.
I wish floppy drives would still exist to this day.
They do though. You can still buy floppies
