The wind direction is super important in Australia, especially if you live in the south. The wind comes from one direction and it's coming of the ocean from Antartica so it's bitter cold but if it comes from the other way it's coming off the massive desert so its a warm wind
Try being in the south island of NZ haha. The wind direction can make a huge difference to your plans, dont want to go out in just a t-shirt in a southerly (altho i mean alot of us still do but we winge its cold more)
I live in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland and It ALWAYS rains and its really windy!! He was speaking the truth!! He is so funny and it’s so true what he says 🤣🤣
I think half the reason I love Michael McIntyre so much is his flouncy hair. Also, only can a true Brit make a whole hilarious bit just talking about the weather.
They actually taught us this in Geography so here goes: the direction of the wind tells you how cold it's going to be. A wind from the North or East is likely to have an arctic chill whereas a southerly breeze is likely to be warm. Low pressure means cloudy with a chance of rain. High pressure means clear skies with no clouds which means warm sunshine in the summer but freezing crisp days in winter.

Those wind directions? Yeah, they're bullshit. And the "arctic"/"warm" thing is NOT felt at all. Because the ambient temperature is what makes a wind cold or warm.

As a Canadian, those winter temperatures made me do a double take. Last year it was normal for me to hear, "There's going to be a high of -20 this afternoon!"
Dear Mr McIntyre, I don’t know if you read your comments years after you have posted a video, but I finally found out what the high a low pressure means. I was researching questions for an upcoming quiz, when one of the questions was; “What kind of pressure creates rain and thunderstorms?” It turns out that low pressure means there is greater chance that there will be rain or a thunderstorm, whereas high pressure means that it is more likely to be hot and humid in a certain “zone.” Given that you’re a comedian, I really don’t know if you already new this piece of information, but since I found it quiet interesting, I thought I would share. Yours sincerely, Tahlia P.S. I really enjoy watching your shows. Since I live in Australia, unfortunately I have never been able to attend one of your live shows, but you can always bring a smile to my face through the television. I wish you all the best in 2021, and hopefully once the COVID-19 virus has been taken care of, I will be able to come and see you live in Britain, it would be a dream come true!
Does this guy ever come to perform in Canada? I only discovered him on UA-cam a month ago or so, and my wife and are addicted to him. He’s very entertaining!
Canadians know what all the weather terms mean! Barometric pressure, wind direction, and humidity tells us more about the forecast then just the temperature any time of year. It’s probably because we love spending time outdoors.
I actually did a study of my migraine attacks over a two month period. The technical college I worked for had a device that registered the pressure. I made a graph of the pressure and the migraine attacks. I was hoping there'd be some sign of correlation, but didn't expect much - but the actual results were absolutely stunning! The pressure graph was not like a smooth sinus curve, but more like the Swiss alps, with really sharp spikes pointing up and down. Every single migraine attack was near the bottom of a very long and very steep downhill section of the curve. So, yes, I am convinced that for some of us very fast and long drops in pressure can easily cause migraine.
@@benttranberg2690 Can you please explain this connection with pressure and migraines in more detail? And what exactly is pressure when mentioned in this context? Thanks
In Canada we definitely watch the weather forecast in winter. In Summer it doesn't really matter, it's going to warm - if it's rainy outside take umbrella. But winter, well let me tell you - if it's going to be 2 degrees or -3 or -17, you wanna know. Because there are different levels of winter coats. If its 1 degree, your nice little pea coat and fashionable scarf will suffice. But - 20? OK, get out the thick as fuck down to your ankles parka, the longjohns, the fake fur lined boots, the scarf that's practically a cape. You see?
It makes sense. With those temperatures, I would go out with a wood burning stove on a lead and call it John. Nobody messes with someone who has a visible imaginary friend ; )

An East wind is often from Siberia and is piercing, the sort that takes your breath away! So wrap-up!!! West winds have come across the Atlantic, so are often wild, and often wet. So tie everything down maybe! A Southern wind could be that Sahara type, warm! We don't get so many of those in Britain! You get a lot of low pressure in dips (where a lot of our cities were built) and near mountains & hills. The clouds are often low & thick, and cover the sky. They're usually "the grey days"! High pressure is a lighter feel, airy, dry, big blue skies, sun! They're the "sunny days" we crave - but yes the nights can be colder, cos the low-pressure blanket skies do kinda act literally as a blanket!! So think deserts, the hotter and clearer it is in day, the freezing it can be at night! So if you fancy a picnic folks, this weather info can actually be very useful!! 😊😅
