Reasons for GT’s poor performance in IPL 2024 :- 1) Not utilising SRK/Manohar properly in place of Shankar in starting matches. 2) Mohit very predictable regarding his slower ones and cutters. 3) Umesh/Sandeep unable to match competence level of Shami with new ball. 4) Gill not performing at his best. (May be because of captaincy pressure) 5) Pathetic scoring rate in power play. 6) Sai Sudharsan playing at very slow strike rate. 7) Unable to fit in Joshua who did very well in last season. 8) Rashid not at his best in bowling because of comeback from injury. 9) Forcefully fitting Noor and compromising on pace attack. 10) Omarzai good at bowling with new ball but in batting he never performed well. 11) Not bringing in Kartik Tyagi in place of Umesh/Darshan. 12) Miller (key player) sitting out on bench in few matches because of getting injured. 13) Saha not giving good starts with Gill like he used to give in IPL 2023. 14) No all-rounder who can match even 50% of Hardik Pandya. 15) Gill sahab is new learner as a captain. Hope so he progress well as a captain. 16) Not able to get their team combination right/settled even after half tournament is over. We could have won against PBKS in Ahmedabad but poor bowling costed us that match. (Lack of planning vs Ashutosh and Shashank) We could have won easily chasing a par total against LSG in Lucknow but brainless/pathetic batting costed us that match. We could have won a close match while chasing in last over against DC in Delhi but bad luck and rubbish decision of giving 19th over to Kishore costed us that match. Moreover, Mohit also gave 31 runs in 20th over. We could have fought hard against RCB while defending a healthy total of 200 in Ahmedabad if we had played with 4 fast bowlers by dropping one from Kishore/Noor. Lack of planning against Kohli (not giving Kishore first over) and non aggressive approach from Gill in batting costed us the match. No issues/comments on losses against DC in Ahmedabad and CSK in Chennai. Bad day/season can come for any big team. No problem in that. Learn from your bad days to make your future days better. Sun and Titans both will rise again. You guys have won in 2022 and sadly lost in 2023 Final by the barest of margins.
