Beautiful little river - bet that water was frigid. Always marveled at how these rocky hills could hold so much water. 2,000 miles - almost to the northern terminus - can't wait to see your videos of the home stretch and Katahdin. Be well, stay safe.

Haha I grew up swimming in cold brooks and ponds and rivers like that this. It’s all that snow melt that runs off late in the season.

Nice to see you all having more fun! Moments like getting in ice cold water on a hot day, reaching the 2,000 mile mark are what make all the effort and issues worth it. I hope your state of mind finds lasting peace during this last stretch of the AT. Please consider using 20% picaridin based insect repellant it is a synthesized form of piperline the stuff that makes black pepper and it works

I have been in swimming holes in the Catskills NY. It’s freezing but on a very hot day, there is nothing better! I bet your knees appreciated the cold water. Leffe’s short! Classic 😅

One thing I used to find helpful in keeping the bugs away from my face was to apply repellent to the bill of my cap on both sides.

Gotta be the stream right before Crocker Cirque campsite near the Carrabassat valley? Was in it last July and it was freezing then! Enjoy every step and Keep Hiking!
10 minute-walk from where I live almost daily I can go swimming in a crystal clear brook - maximum temperature: 8°C. I call it my Spa😌😉.

You are funny Stella....I think you missed your other calling. Whomever told you it would get easier must have meant it would get easier to accept how challenging the hikes can be. When I ran 5 miles a day, it never got easier but it did become a good refreshing habit. A few 4k peaks or even flat walk over rocks sounds like a challenge. I wonder if I could walk home from work everyday, a 6k elevation is home. In fact, in New York City early settlers would walk from Long Island to an area of Whiteplains to visit family, Roosevelts. Can you imagine? No cars, no horse and buggy, just your feet.

I was so excited to see you get in the stream. I can think of nothing more refreshing (mountain snow had to have it very cold LOL!). But, also so healing. I bet your legs and knees loved it too. I love the fun so close to your journey's end. Blessings!
Will citronella essential oil on your clothes and around your tent work? I dilute and spray it all around...seems to work for us.
