Please please please do not stop this pages potential growth, UA-cam has sooo much opitunty to help spread the awareness needed, please make more videos and if you could make some around adult life and what it's like as I am 32 and starting to research it myself after living with it and just thinking "it doesn't define me".. Sadly it does.. I've come far and done great but at a time when thinking about having kids comes into my life... I'm seriously doubting I could handle it with a full time job. Thank you for helping spread the word
We are working on showing individual stories of discovery of their own FASD diagnosis, and the range of how different it looks among people, yet with clear common patterns, and with a message of needing to support those with this, rather than the prevention message that was echoed by those interviewed in the present film.
This project is so amazing and important! Everyone should be aware that there is no safe amount of alcohol during pregnancy. That pregnant women with addiction issues should not be stigmatized and should be supported in recovery. That individuals with FASD and those that care for/about them deserve to be seen, heard and supported!
I was familiar with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome but this documentary expanded my knowledge about its being not so much a syndrome as a spectrum disorder. Very informative in so many ways!
This is an excellent video full of both personal stories and expert advice about Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. Everyone needs to know about the detrimental effects alcohol will have on a fetus when you are sexually active (and may not even realize you are pregnant!).
This is such an informative video to bring awareness to such a critical need. Very polished editing and narration also, very clear and gets to the key points!
As a person with ARND spectrum with FASD, I just hope people still understand not everyone will get involved with the criminal system. This is of course depending on the severity of FASD. I never dropped out of school, have any criminal record... always been a nice fun bubbly person.. mostly struggle with math, certain words using in speech, can't drive or work an actual job etc... so I have my own personal job. And there is differnt forms of FASD that isn't mentioned in the film... of course there is soo much about FASD, makes sense you can't all fit it in a short film.. but only just to start the conversation.. There is alot of people out there tho that have no clue they are pregnant and drinking until like 20 weeks In... so I guess this means to not drink any alcohol at all if you are sexually active ?
For me I was lucky because my biological mother was already being watched for it because they knew she was drinking alcohol. It was after my second siezure around 2 years also where I was officially diagnosed. Where they looked for indicators. I was diagnosed With FASD ARND I had developmental delays, and I have memory issues. I have Vision hearing, and sensory issues. I struggle with memory Retaining and learning disabilities.I am lucky it hasn't affected me as much of others because it very well could of. For me it wasn't ever anything talked about. They instead said it was ADHD but I believe... It's possible that many diagnosed with ADHD. May possibly have FASD. And are misdiagnosed because of the stigma. Its something to think about.
Hi Melissa! That is a great question, and we have intentionally left that out to protect identities. If you would like more information on it, please email fasdcommunities AT gmail dot com

Thank you for making this documentary and informing some of us who don't know much about FASD what we need to know. It was very informative.

What is being done to education obstetricians to end the stigma that it is ok to drink while pregnant?
