I usually used Mesas. I decided I wanted to try something different. Sold my Mesa Boogie and ordered the Ceriatone OTS Lunchbox head w/o a cabinet. 22 watts. The email I got back said ten week for delivery. So I figured I had plenty of time to build a nice cab. A week later my wife calls me at work and say there’s a huge heavy box on the front porch, please bring it in when you get home. I asked her what is it? She tells me it’s from Malaysia. My amp! In a week. “Cancel my afternoon patients” I’m going home. My staff blocked the door and pointed to the clinic. So I get home after work and unboxed it. Playing an amp without a cabinet is deadly. For real. I spent the weekend building the cab and have been in love with this amp ever since.
Interestingly, Dumbles can get kinda close to a MKii. I'm sure with a few tweaks you'd feel right at home with a Overtone Special
now that's been a year what do you think? I'm very interested in getting one.
This is hands down, one of the best amp demos I’ve ever seen on UA-cam. You didn’t use a ton of reverb, compression, and other effects to cover up things. Just your hands and the amp. Fantastic!😎

Finally someone who knows how to pronounce this fabulous amp. never knew it was cherry a tone! I've heard these live in new hope pa. the best amps in the world other than FUCHs.
For years i tried to nail David Lindleys lap steel tone. Then i got a Ceriatone OTS Mini 20, their 20 watt version of a Dumble. got that sound i've been searching for and been in love with this amp ever since. IMHO Ceriatone makes the best D style amp for the money.

Buddy Blues I have to say that it’s channels like this that just play whatever that make me want to play guitar again. I was having such a hard time wanting to play and feeling uninspired. I just acquired one of these Overtone Special Ceritones off FB Market today... I played a Overdrive Special by Dumble a couple of weeks ago... This Ceritone doesn’t disappoint... It’s spot on.... I was using a Shin Music Dumbloid for my OD until today... It’s a great amp and wasn’t hard to dial in what I’ve been looking for... The C Lator was the tricky part, but I’m dialed in now!!!
Thx for answer on OD trim. Recommendation for where it should be set? I prefer just a bit of break-up. All these pots seem interactive. By the way, built my own, including the cab.

Hey! This is the standard 50w model. The front panel thingy is an external buffered tube powered effects loop!

The OD sound IS. The sound I’ve been searching for
The C-Lator is the absolute easiest thing ever to use. Plug the "send" from the amp into the "in" on the clator and the "return" on the amp into the "out" on the clator. Now the send and return on the clator is your effects loop. Set the "drive" on the clator to noon, set the "in" control full up and the "out" to taste (the out will now serve as your master volume). Set the bright switches to taste. There you go, you wont blow anything up. I adds some harmonics and you can use the drive to add more gain to your signal if you want (both clean and overdrive channels). It will darken the tone a little, some like it some not so much. But it's worth a try. You can use it a bit like an attenuator like this too because of the second master volume. Let me know if it works!

I have the exact same amp as you except it's the 100/50 watt version , not that I have ever had it on 100 watts , I run a Boomerang chorus /delay pedal through the send return of the buffer that's the only pedal I need for a few songs other than that the amp has every sound in it that you would ever need , if you want to run pedals through the buffer run 2x 6.5mm cables from the send and return of the amp down to the send and return of the buffer and then plug in your pedals into the other 2 send and return jacks of the buffer it works great , these amps are built like a tank and sound fantastic , thanks to Nick
I have a Ceriatone SSS 50watt amp, and that amp is so good, headroom for days, and a beautiful breathiness as well. Cant go past a Ceriatone, and they are built like a tank

I was fortunate enough to play through a dumbo OD special in the mid-90s that a friend had. That amplifier had built-in magic for days! From what I'm hearing this Cerotone absolutely Nails it man! I understand there's a frightful waiting list but Monday morning I'm getting on that list! Do you know if you have to pay up front for the amplifier or do you pay for it when you take delivery

It's nice to ear Dumble clone demo with playing more raw/energic/intense. So much dumble clone demo are done with fusion/soft attack/too kindly playing.

Yup. That’s pretty much a Dumble. The Pre-amp boost gave it really nice tone...reminded me of SRV’s Dumble tones.

Thanks for the vid and info, really appreciate it. Does the overdrive sound a little too fuzzy or can you rectify that? Would it compare to the amplified nation version?
You’re welcome! I’ve never tried an amplified nation amp so I wouldn’t be able to compare it, but the overdrive is the farthest thing from fuzzy on this one. Smooth heaven especially if you plug into the normal channel (I plugged into FET for a little more beef)

I mis printed, 102 & 183 are pretty close. I think Dumbles sound great on V30's, a little diff. but that can be good too.
Hey Buddy, what kind of cabinet and speakers do you use with a head like this? I’m wanting to get one of these but I’m curious as to what kind of cabinet to get? Also what is that humbucker on the bridge position of that strat? Sounds killer!
Thank you! So I've got several cabs, I like this amp with a 212 fender cab that I have 2 cream backs in it. Sounds super smooth. These pickups are Magneto Design Labs pickups. A Small Business in North Carolina! Great people
Hey! Hope you're still enjoying the amp! Just wanted to ask, have you tried running this amp with any other cab/speaker combos? These amps tend to sound their best when hooked up to 2x Celestion G12-65s or 1x EVM12L (you can even double up on the 12Ls if you want!). Feel like you may be missing out a little going through the V30s.

Did you have PAB on the 1st time u used the drive channel? If not, than you have to turn down the bass to make the bass tight and not flub out. I had an OTS before.

I'm also wondering which ODS circuit he's cloning. I've been gathering schematics and there are very different component values and slight circuit tweeks between them. #102 which is supposed to be Robben Ford's dumble is quite different from say 183 or a couple others I've located. And just go pre amp out to d later in d later out to power amp in then your pedals go in the d laters loop.It won't blow up if you do it wrong but it won't work(properly at least).
I have the lunchbox version of the Ceriatone OTS. 22 watts. No raged high end like a Marshall. No ice pick distortion like an overdriven Fender. Just sweet tubey goodness.

I just wished I had bought one 15 yrs ago when they were $1000. I've heard that the components have dramatically declined in quality over the last few years, is this true in your opinion ? I'm guessing over time markets fluctuate and components become extinct, but doesn't Ceriatone make their own caps etc ?...Sounded great btw, nice chops ! Peace, from the Oregon coast.

You had the C-Lator built right into the amp? Did you spec and order this one yourself? Love the look. How much would this amp run new from Ceriatone? Subbed and liked!
Thank you and welcome! The clator is built into the head rather than the amp. If that makes sense. It's all one piece but they are separate. It has to be powered independently and has to be hooked as if it were an outside unit. It just happens to be built into the head(wood). I hope any of this made sense haha. And no I did not have this speccd out my wife bought it for me from a ceriatone dealer here I'm Florida. I think it was around $1,800 on sale usually $2,000. Send Nik from ceriatone an email and ask him how much exactly my amp would cost you! He's a lovely guy

You’re right on about Nik. Fantastic guy, and very helpful. I have this amp, but built it myself from parts. Built the cabinet as well. Fashioned it after Robben’s model.
@frankfaga thanks! That’s what they call the OD trim. Overdrive trim. It confused the heck out of me for the longest time, but the easiest way for me to understand this was this: think of it as the Maximum gain the overdrive channel will reach. Think of it as both an overall volume and gain knob for the overdrive channel. Like a ceiling.

Awesome video. Had been looking at the King Kong 50, but now will be checking out these Overtones. Would like a lower wattage amp with 2 channels that can play blues/rock.
You should give a try at a Fryette PS-100, it can give's you more voicing to any of your amps, it can boost a fender junior up to 100w or can take any 100w and make them 5w. But more importantly, it give's you more voicing with 2 3way switches. One is edge-brite-flat the second deep-warm-flat and they are both interactive with one-an-other plus it give's you a loop to any amp that doesn't already have one. You just get more controle and more sounds to any of your amps. I am fyberglasted by mine, i youse it mainly with my Electro-Harmonix Mig-50, witch by itself already sound great, but put the 2 together and HOMAMA ! With a ventage celestions 2x12 cab from Harley Benton my total combo goes for under 2.5k. I first bought the fryette as a attenuator but now you could also sell me one simply for the voicing and the easiness of sound tweaking that it's adding. Plus the fact that it is an upgrade to any of my future amps.

It really does! It all depends on what you get each one is built to order but they are not NEARLY as expensive as other amps or boutique amps. Great quality under $2,000 (again, depending what you ask for)

Great sounding amps as are Dumbles, tho I've found with a 10 band eq in the loop of my jca50 I can dial in almost identical tones on the crunch channel. With the gain way down to 3 the od channel can get very close but slightly smoother and a bit more compressed, and more aggressive.

I've had a dozen or more amps over the years. Last year i settled on the most consistent amp sound I've ever had. Fender De Ville Michael Landau. With a compressor and Benson Fuzz, sonic heaven.

Yep both are great amps. The Honey Bee is more SRV, the Ceriatone is more versatile. SRV, Ford, Sayce, Hendrix. Can’t go wrong with either. They are the best right now.
