Agreed!! However, have u read Romancing Mr Bridgerton yet? I think the way he is so annoyingly clueless as to what's right in front of him in the show is a nod to his struggles in the book. I can't wait for Polin season to come so we can see him fall for Penelope and then WORK FOR IT! Season 3 is gonna be the death of me!😮‍💨

The way I interpret that scene is that he doesn't see her as one of those annoying debutants who have been after him for years. She is Penelope, the idea of avoiding her never even crossed his mind, and is an absurd notion to him.This man has been breaking societal norms in relation to her for years. The fact that he has been writing private letters to her is absolutely scandalous. Not to mention when he, in fullview of the Ton, Pulled Penelope into a private room to speak with her alone.

He was a fool, though, and Eloise was blind…people get all over Penelope for the things she wrote as Whistledown. In my opinion she should have let them both deal with the consequences of their own choices. She loved them both, and therefore could not. Whatever her other faults, and she does have many, disloyalty is not one of them.
