Hello Simon,about these highland sox for pipers/drummers etc. You mention the 3 fingers against that bone near the knee etc. I pull my sox up all the way as you do,then,roll the top back down over etc to a point like your 3 fingers BUT..instead I place my thumb right into the back of the knee where it bends shall we say,measure the 4 fingers down where I would have already placed my flashes before hand,then I roll the half of whats left back up to halfway and then roll all that back up again to top it off. Very different to how you do it. Now the Ghillies. I always tie half a knot first,then twist 2-3 times round front to back etc and tie off to the side. I personally think the 10 or 20 twists that a lot still do does not work and is time consuming.
