Hey everyone. I know why nova acted this way. Bearded dragons have a third eye on their head that helps them detect shadows and movements. This is important because they’re often predated on by birds. In addition, humans appear different to bearded dragons in natural lighting because they are able to see UV rays. Because this is short form content, I didn’t have the time to explain all the reasons why nova acted this way. I also want to address Nova being allowed to bask outside. 1. It’s good for her to have natural UVB. 2. She’s in an enclosed space so she can’t escape. 3. She was observed by me the whole time and only acted out when I stood above her, so I mostly stood off to the side near Franklin or Haku my other basking lizards. I hope this answers your questions. Because UA-cam is pushing shorts I’m getting a LOT of people new to my page assuming idk what I’m doing. I do. Please check my other content to know that.
Or better yet, people can keep their comments to themselves. It’s often impossible to tell what someone is doing is right or wrong in a 30 second short. Next time keep scrolling.
Fun fact, a lot of lizards (and snakes) freak out when they are outside because EVERYTHING looks different and scary. They can see uvb and uva, so their humans look like complete strangers and they can get very scared. This can also happen when bringing then outside if their enclosure(especially if they stay in there a lot and have good uvb) because people look very different inside the enclosure and outside the enclosure
I didn’t know the last part at all. Thank you for the information. That kind of cute in a way. It’s like infants when a parent changes their hair dramatically or shaves their face. Their objects permanence isn’t there yet.
I took my ball python out with me on a nice day. So my dog can do her business. She is sickly, so she needed me at her side and he was getting one on one time. So I didn’t wanna just put him back. And he is so calm in my arms like he has so much trust in me. Not sure if it’s normal with snakes, he’s my first. And had him for almost 2 years now. ^^
@@yukimasahiko I’ve got 6 ball pythons, they are generally super calm but it takes a special building of trust to get one so chill with being handled outside in weird situations. My special boy Misha is like that, the others like me but Misha is special. Ball pythons generally don’t freak out in the natural light because they are nocturnal, so they don’t see as much UV as most lizards.
When I take my beardie outside, I sit with him and he usually feels the need to climb on me to bask, which I'm very glad for as I don't have any fencing for him. (I have used a harness/leash thing for him but it has been too big so far)
When my (female) bearded dragon is scared outside (on a bearded dragon leash and supervised cause natural uvb is 👌) usually scared over a plane, she'll run to my feet and climb up a bit, wanting me to pick her up, she knows mama is safe and tall 😂

They can see in UV. So if your Beardie never has seen you in full UV they will panic because they don't recognize you. Happens in a more terrifying way with Tegu's.
Really should put some sort of mesh over that so no birds can swoop in. Like Ik you’re supervising but still, birds can be extremely fast and lizard can’t hide away in such a small box
I use to have 2 bearded dragon's. They would spend the day wondering around inside and outside of the house. It was great watching them bask in the sun and chase bugs around. When they were ready to go back in their tanks they'd go to the front door.
Fun fact: bearded dragons do this because they have a third eye that looks like a little dot on their head which is very sensitive and their third eye can’t visualize but it can detect shadows above their head which in nature is used as a defense mechanism in case birds fly over their heads
So, this shows how stressed out animals get when they are outside. Animals understand the dangers of being outside and pets should never be left unattended outside for this reason.
@@chickennoodlesoup2569 Didn’t say they were left unattended, just this is a perfect example of why you shouldn’t leave them unattended. This also includes cats and dogs too.

Different lighting and natural light. Esp with his habitat. Now, he's the calmest of all calm bearded dragons I ever encountered. Well in my area I live
…I don’t if it’s a change of hormones, age, or because of the post pandemic change. But I’ve been finding frogs, slugs and now bearded dragons adorable suddenly in 2023!
If your pets are showing signs of stress in different places and you can avoid those places with your pets maybe don't force them to be out there? 🙄 It sucks this has to be said. You'd think common knowledge would be you know... COMMON but I guess not.
This must have happened to my beardy. I brought her out to do yard work like Ive always done and she escaped. I looked everywhere for her for weeks, but I couldn’t find her. Living in Florida anything could have happened. Im still not over it. 😢

It thoroughly frustrated me to a level that I haven’t been frustrated at since I was in high school and we lost cafeteria microwave privileges because somebody microwaved a Luke Perry CD.
Aww!! Poor baby! As soon as I saw it react I immediately knew it was because there's sum tall creature above it. Obviously it's gonna get scared. I'm sure it gets monitored too but anything could've scooped in to get the dragon?
I used to have a 3 legged bearded dragon and he LOVED going on walks! He'd have a chihuahua harness on just incase, but layed on our arms, and I thought that was pretty cool but didn't know it was apparently abnormal!
Maybe there's a reason it acts that way. He hates it outside duh 🤣🙄. Plus you leave him alone caged like that, he freaks out thinking you leave him out to die. What if some big bird comes to snatch him. His natural instincts would be to have some hole to crawl under in case of danger. Next time place a hide and a water bowl see if he freaks out again.
I wish I had a lil play pen for mine when I had them, I was always scared they'd eat a lightning bug. After I fell into a depression I sent them off with my uncle who has always had reptiles. I used to hang out at a tattoo shop that a buddy of mine owned and he had a male and female horny lizard in his terrarium at the front of the shop and I used to get the little female out and play with her for a couple hours while I was at the shop every day and one day she walked off the end of the counter and landed on the pitbulls back the dog jumped up and took off running and this lizard is hanging onto this dog's collar hissing and puffed up so huge I feel sorry for the lizard but it was hilarious I'm sorry it was I can't breathe holding my sides hilarious
