    These are an incredible value for home use. I purchased 2 of these to replace 3 ubiquity Unifi AC Lites in my home. The coverage, range,stability and performance of 2 of these access points is significantly better than the combined 3 unifi AC lites they replaced and they are much cheaper as well. I ended up selling the AC lites. These access points are a hidden gem.

      I have also bought a couple, just waiting for them to be delivered. Have you set them to have the same SSID name ? I am hoping to use the two units to give better coverage; one at each end of a stone built house that previously had very poor wifi coverage. He mentions the Omada software in the video, guess I'll have to use that to configure a two AP network.

      @@colinmacdougall4301 Yes. You can also set them up to have multiple SSID names and VLANS. These things are very customizable.

    I purchased the TP-Link AC1350 today for my home use, and I am very grateful that I found your video clip on uTube, as I was struggling to get into the configuration of this access point.
    I was wondering if you could kindly explain how to set up a STATIC IP address. Does one do this through the AP or the router I am using. A short video clip on this will be very much appreciated.
    Will it also be possible to explain the functions of VLAN ID, PORTAL and ISOLATION.
    I wish you a pleasant day and good wishes from Sri Lanka

    Do you just connect a ethernet cable from the router to that access point to power it on??

    Can you still keep the Wi-fi on the existing ISP router or does it need to be set to Modem mode? I wanted to keep my existing Wi-fi for down stairs and the extender for upstairs. Is this possible?

    • @leestechprep
      @leestechprep  2 роки тому +1

      Hi David. Thanks for commenting. Yes you can still have the WiFi active on your router and add this as an extra access point. What you might fine is issues with device handover between access points. However short of purchasing an entire new system such as the offering from unify then that will always be an issue. If you take a device between floors you may have to disconnect and reconnect to the WiFi to get the best performance. Hope that helps

    Does it include a power adapter for the PoE injector? The injector is useless without an actual external power adapter energizing the PoE data out port.

    I'm in the process of installing one of these in the upstairs of my home. Depending on how that goes, I may ditch may present extender and add one downstairs. But I'm hoping that with my placement, the single upstairs unit may be sufficient for the whole house.
    What sort of indoor range are you getting with yours?

    • @leestechprep
      @leestechprep  3 роки тому

      Hi Tim. I have now switched over to Unifi AP's for no other reason than preferring the GUI. However when I was using this unit I had good coverage right throughout an average sized 2 bedroom flat. There is lots of variables when it comes to WiFi range so your mileage may vary.

    have you tried to add wifi extender to this?

    • @ArchonHLI
      @ArchonHLI 4 роки тому +3

      Simply add another access point. You can run another ethernet cable to the additional access point or use wireless mesh mode. Wireless 'repeaters' are not the best solution as they often lack a dedicated antenna for the 'repeater' signal. Due to this flaw, 'repeaters' will often degrade your signal and perform very poorly in comparison to a proper wireless access point setup.

    Is there a way to set this AP up simply as an extender for my network? I have this installed and I’ve played with the settings but it will only let me set it up only as an access point with its own SSID. I just want to be able to connect to existing WiFi and have this unit extend the range of my WiFi.

      So not as a repeater ya sometimes giving it the same name can be problematic with devices switching automatically it can work but you are generally better off naming it some thing different of just ad AP to your name or if you use several of these they can all have the same name because they will actually manage which one you are connected to instead of your phone or whatever
