The longer videos the better in my personal opinion... If you save those inky papertowel pieces, dry them flat on top of each other, you can run them through an embossing folder and you will have textured paper for your tags... If you have mopped up some glue, even better, as it usually holds the paper better together...❤
Ooh, that sounds like an excellent idea... I do sometimes save them just to use as they are, but I've never compressed them through an embossing folder. Thanks for the tip! And I'm so delighted to hear you are enjoying the videos... however long they are!! Thanks so much for your company on this creative journey.
This will be a fun months for stencil fun. I collected a few so seeing all the wonderful things you can do with them is so fun. I love the crackle paste in replace of the texture paste. Beautiful colors and techniques
I’m thrilled to see you playing & creating so joyfully with some of my own favourite mediums!! The results from crackle paste are so wonderful 🥰🤗 Love your chosen colour palette and can’t wait to see what’s next! ✨🩵💙✨
Isn't crackle just the most fun?! I have so many different variations on the crackle medium theme... that's my next planned Craft Supplies Deep Dive, but I haven't had time to film it yet! So happy you're enjoying the creative fun.
Thank you so much Alison, I really really enjoyed watching you create these two absolutely and utterly beautiful and stunning tags and then the mop up pieces are amazing too. I absolutely love ❤❤❤❤ and adore watching you because you are so amazing and talented and fun too. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤❤
Oh, what a lovely comment, thank you... I'm so happy you enjoyed it all so much. I do have fun creating, so it's wonderful to know that my fun transmits through the screen to you as the audience. Have a lovely week.

Thank you very much for sharing your wonderful talents, with us today! The tags are quite wonderful! By the way, I joined Fodder School 3 yesterday! I am quite excited about it!❤
Oh, that's so exciting to hear - I'll "see" you in the classroom! So enjoyed to see how you made these fabulous backgrounds😍 love them both ut your Monet has such great mix of gorgeous and grungeness! Thanks for your inspiration Alison and I hope you have a wonderful sunday❣️
I bought a $1 store kitty litter pan. Keep it.near your workspace with an inch of water with a splash of Murphys oil soap. Toss stencils, brayers, palette knives, etc in for easy clean up later. Especially helpful when gel printing.
These are stunning Allison(I hope that is spelled correctly) I personally could watch your videos for hours. I learn so much and like your "not bothered by it" a lot!!

I’m lucky enough to have many of the same supplies but I never feel confident using them. These videos are so helpful in demonstrating how many different ways they can be used. Thank you!
That's so wonderful to hear. I hope you'll be inspired to get the supplies out to play very soon. Don't aim for particular results (even I never get exactly the same results twice), but enjoy playing and discovering what's possible. The only "wrong" way to do it, as far as I'm concerned, is to leave the products in their bottles and tubes and pots! Take it step by step - and I'm so happy if the videos here help you along that journey. Thanks so much for watching and for your lovely comment.
I was so glad to see this project. I have a jar of crackle past I have never used! You motivated me to get it out and my stencils and do some playing! Thanks
I'm so happy to hear you are inspired to play - that's the best possible feedback! I hope your crackle paste won't have dried out... if it's been unopened, hopefully you'll be okay. Have lots of fun, and thank you so much for watching and commenting.
Loved this video!! The tags are beautifully grungy! I enjoyed hearing your thought process while you were creating and the color combinations you used for the tags! I am completely enamored with Scorched Timber…my fav distress color but I do love them all!! Thank you for sharing!!!💖💕💖
Isn't Scorched Timber amazing?! I thought I loved Ground Espresso, but S.T. takes it to the next level!! So happy you loved the video, and I hope you'll be having your own few minutes of fun over the weekend. Thanks so much for your company on this creative journey.
Oh i love the short videos. They give me inspiration that i can start on quickly if i want to try them. While i liked these as younwere maki g them when i saw them rifht at the end it was if there was an Extra pop of fabulousness! The card used for mopping up the extra ink was fantastic also.
Thank you so much for the lovely feedback - and yes, it really only takes a few minutes to have some fun. I hope you'll be inspired to find some time soon. And yes, well spotted... there was a little bit of extra spatter at the end! Thank you for watching and commenting.
These are so beautiful Alison! I have all the products used here and I will definitely give this a try today on this rainy Sunday. Thanks as always for the inspiration! Your work and videos are the BEST!
Thank you - it was fun to watch your playtime. I am now thinking I need some crackle paste! Your colour choices are so lovely - salvaged patina is my favourite colour in the distress line (even if it was hiding today!) I have many stencils, so it will be great to refresh my memory with techniques and use them!
Yes, I don't know where the Salvaged Patina has got to... I'll have to track it down! So happy you enjoyed today's playtime, and yes - I highly recommend crackle paste!! Hope you'll have fun revisiting your stencils over the next few weeks.
Hello Alison! LOVE the tags - those are two of my favorite Tim Holtz stencils! I was mesmerized watching you create today and realized I was so engrossed in your creativity that I even blinked less! I especially love the flowers with those dark centers - stunning! I was thinking about Fodder School and your teaching this month so I checked out the information and saw your picture and immediately thought - you even look like an artist! I would love to look that cool… Although I like the idea of the variety of fodder options but I’m not ready to make the commitment to a year of creating mostly out of my comfort zone especially since my brain and body are both tired and I don’t have the energy needed to get from thinking about creating to actually creating on a more regular basis. Until then, I will enjoy your videos and experimenting with old and new techniques I’ve been adding to my someday/maybe list of options. You are an excellent teacher and those enrolled in Fodder School are in for a treat. Take Care and have a wonderful weekend! 🙂
Thank you so much, Sue. I love reading your comments. So thrilled to have mesmerized you today!! I think you're absolutely right to hold off on Fodder School, given all you say here. It's not really my natural mode of creation either - I've been out of my comfort zone a lot. That's a wonderful place to be when you're feeling energised and creative and adventurous, and I've taken some really fabulous journeys and learned a lot about my own creative preferences. But it has required a LOT of mental and emotional energy - in an (almost) entirely good way - and you wouldn't want to be doing it if you're feeling less than brilliant. So yes, stick with the videos and all your other creative plans; play with things you enjoy playing with; and explore new things gently when you're in the mood. Have a wonderful Sunday (that's pretty much all that's left of the weekend at this point here in Europe!).
I’m new to your channel, and I absolutely love it! I thought that I was somewhat experienced in Mixed Media, but in just 4 videos, I have learned so very much from you! Thank you so much!
Very happy you found your way here - welcome! I'm delighted you are finding fresh inspiration and ideas here... how nice to be adding layers to your mixed media journey!! Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
Abselutely stunning🥰 I’ve allready seen it twice and will defenently watch it again when we arrive home from vaccation😁 I hope you are having a wonderful weekend🫶🏻
I love when your videos are more than a “few minutes!” Beautiful, once again. So excited my order of some (more) of your stamps finally arrived from the UK. Can’t wait to play.
Oh, I'm happy to hear you got your hands on some of the stamps - I hope you'll have a wonderful time playing with them. Delighted you are enjoying the videos - thank you so much for your company on this creative journey.

Oh my gosh! Grunge and beauty all in one, I LOVE them!! I love the way you always teach us more than just the art you produce, for example the Monet quote, you're such a great educator as well as a fabulous artist. Thank you for sharing your time and your prodigious talent with us. ❤ xxx
Thank you so much for that wonderful comment. I guess it's all interconnected for me in terms of inspiration... words and pictures - there's a reason that's my name! So happy you're enjoying the connections too. Thanks for your company on this creative journey.
That's such lovely feedback - and yes, I think a close-up is definitely a good thing when you've got all that texture to enjoy! Thanks so much for watching, and for your lovely comment.
I love however many minutes of fun you spare us! I absolutely love using my texture pastes through stencils with the distress products. It has given me pleasure watching you create with them. A real joy. Thank you
It's such fun, isn't it? Probably my favourite stencil techniques involve texture pastes of one sort or another... Thank you so much for your lovely comment.
What beautiful tags. Thanks for the inspiration. I need to purchase a few ranger pastes. I thought I had crackle paste, but it's a crazing version of matte medium. It's pretty good, too. ❤
Yes, the crazing medium is a nice effect, and perfect for applying over the top of design paper for that aged look. I've got many crackle mediums of various kinds which each have different looks (that's the next Craft Supplies Deep Dive I'm planning, but haven't had time to film yet) and I love them all. Thanks so much for your company on this creative journey.
Thank you so much for doing this! It makes up for me not being able to do your fodder school. LOL I was able to follow along.. I think it was a bit of an issue because I have distress oxide sprays. I need to get more distress stains. I have alot of the distress ink pads. I learned alot!
The Oxide sprays will give you a slightly different look for sure, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with that - it's just another way to play! I enjoy the translucence of the Spray Stains, but best of all is combining the two... chalky Oxides AND translucent Inks! So happy you had fun playing along. Thank you so much for your company on this creative journey.
Happy you found your way here - welcome! Delighted you liked this video, and I hope you'll enjoy exploring the rest of the channel. Thank you so much for watching and commenting - much appreciated.

Happy you found your way here - welcome! So happy you enjoyed today's video, and I hope you'll find lots more to explore here on the channel. Thanks so much for watching, commenting, and subscribing.
Thank you for zooming in. I have a vision impairment so I had a hard time seeing what you made. I love the flower one, lovely colors as well. So what do you do with these tags?
Happy the close-up gave you a chance to see the texture properly, and I'm glad you like the tags. Yes, I was really happy with how the flower one turned out. These are just backgrounds so far, so they may get some additional layers of dimensional collaging - I'll wait and see what they tell me they want next! But then I don't really "DO" anything with the tags. What does one "DO" with a piece of art?! Some stand in little crates around my studio for flipping through for inspiration or just for pleasure (you can see what I mean here: ua-cam.com/video/EwkvmSSKvb4/v-deo.html ) Alternatively, they might form the basis for an art journal page (you can see the kind of thing I mean with that in this flipthrough - ua-cam.com/video/TYqLY1mSDsI/v-deo.html ), or be used as a card-topper, except I hardly ever make cards! Or occasionally they might be given as a gift, just as they are (when completed). But for the most part it's the actual making that matters to me... the exploration, the state of flow I find when I'm creating. I'm more interested in process than in product. Hope that answers your question somehow!
As always, love this, so thank you for sharing. Also can relate to the dissapearing salvaged patina, because it is all out of stock here in the netherlands 😂 Alison, might i ask when youre new stamps will come out? I am about to buy the rest of youre collection 😮 Ps could you or have you a video about your choise of colourcombo's?
Happy you enjoyed the crackle stencilling - it's a really satisfying technique. On colour choices, I do talk about it here and there (particularly in some of the swatching videos - the Distress Pencil one, I seem to remember talking about colour), but there isn't a specific video on it, because I don't think I could say anything helpful! There isn't a science or a method to it. I pick colours that I like, and I look and listen and see what other colour vibration I want on any given day or week or season. There will be a massive colour palette shift during autumn, for instance. I am hugely influenced by nature, and I tend to prefer the cooler ends of the colour spectrum, whatever colour - so the grey blues, the cherry reds. And I do love grey! And colour is such a hugely personal thing. I really think it's a journey each individual needs to go on for themselves. Put colours together and see if they give you joy or not. Explore, experiment. And notice colours even when you're not crafting or creating. If I look at the clothes I own (bought long before I started any art work) I see similar colour tones recurring as those I create with - so maybe look in wardrobe to see what it is that you are drawn to. In gardens, I'm very clear about the flower colours and combination I love and those I don't. I hope that gives you some kind of answer to start with! And for stamps, I'm not quite sure which release you're asking about. The stamps released in June were available from PaperArtsy stockists as soon as they were launched (end of June). The next release won't be until later in the year... I haven't designed them yet so I can't be specific about the date! Hope you can track down the ones you want - here's the PaperArtsy stockist list, alphabetically by country, in case you'd like some pointers... blog.paperartsy.co.uk/p/find-stockist.html Thanks so much for watching and for your lovely comment.
you work is so delightful. I just found you so now I am binge watching you. tried the moon with you yesterday. Stencils it is. Do you really cover that background you did?
Very happy you found your way here - welcome! Glad to hear you are enjoying the fun and inspiration. I haven't covered these tags yet - they are still waiting... but the other panels have had a bit of attention, if I remember rightly! Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
I love the color combinations on these tags. I have never used distress inks before and would like to try. What colors would you recomment for a beginner set - as vary as limited but versitile?
So happy you like these, thank you. What colours to choose is a really difficult question to answer, because everyone likes different colours! If you like working with nature themes, then you'll want some blues and greens and browns. Some people love the vivid brights. Some people like lots of contrast; others like a harmonious colour palette. You need to work with colours YOU like! My recommendation would be to have a look at the Sunday Swatching video where I swatch all of the Distress Watercolour Pencils (linked below). I'm not suggesting you get the pencils - but it will give you an idea of the colour range, and maybe some of them will jump out at you. If you can't quite catch the names of the ones you like, let me know with a comment under that video and I can try to help with which one is which! ua-cam.com/video/hMFUm9M7McM/v-deo.html I hope that helps for now...
Happy you like them, thank you. I'm not sure whether you mean what will I do next with these backgrounds, or what do I do with finished tags (which these aren't). If the first - I don't know yet what the next steps will be... I will wait for the tags to let me know whether it's some ephemera, or dimensional collaging, or maybe just some words. As far as "doing" anything with them... I'm not sure what you "do" with any piece of art. For me, the making is the doing. The state of flow I find in creativity, the learning that happens with each creation, the playfulness of exploration, the combining of colours and textures - those are the value for me. Many of my tags live in crates in my studio, for flicking through for inspiration or for pleasure (you can see what I mean in these Shorts - ua-cam.com/video/EwkvmSSKvb4/v-deo.html ). Others come out for seasonal displays during the year. Sometimes I'll create a tag book (watch out for that in the Books Books Books episode this Wednesday), or I'll use a tag (either a background or a finished tag) as the basis for a journal page (you can see that kind of thing here ua-cam.com/video/TYqLY1mSDsI/v-deo.html Occasionally I'll give one as a gift, or as a tag on a gift as an extra gift. Hope that answers your question. Thank you so much for watching and commenting.
Lovely video. Thank you for sharing. I’ve been intrigued with the crackle paste and have been wanting to try, so this is helpful in how it works. I’m wondering about it’s tackiness when dry. Do you feel it slightly sticky when dry? Could you tell me what is your opinion on how it feels when dry? Thx so much.
Happy you enjoyed the video - and glad it gave you a better idea of the crackle paste (though, of course this is just one kind of crackle paste... I'm planning a Craft Supplies Deep Dive looking at several different brands as well as different crackle mediums... but I haven't had a chance to film that yet!). It's not sticky at all once it has dried... it's a solid, hard surface with cracks in. No tackiness at all (at least not if it's working properly!). Hope that helps. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Can this be done in texture paste as well? I ask because I currently don’t have any crackle paste. I do love the crackle…on my shopping list. 🥴. Love learning from your expertise! Thank you! ❤❤❤
Absolutely you can use plain texture paste... there's a video with that coming up next week, in fact! And I'm planning a Craft Supplies Deep Dive about crackle pastes and glazes - there are quite a few different sorts (not to mention different brands). If you want an effect similar to this, you'll need to look for an opaque matte paste (like the one listed in the description). Don't get a glaze - that will do something else altogether!! So happy that you are enjoying and learning and learning and enjoying!! Thank you so much for your company on this creative journey.
Glad you like them, thank you. The tags I use are basically the same as the size 8 tags from Ranger (like these - measurements on the link - stampersanonymous.com/ranger-8-manila-craft-tags-ism27973.html ) but they aren't the actual Ranger ones. And no, I try to avoid buying craft supplies from Amazon if I can. I prefer to support independent craft retailers whenever possible. Sadly, the UK independent online craft stockist I used to buy my tags in bulk from had to close down a while back (unable to compete with the likes of Amazon etch)... I'm still working my way through a box, but after that I'm going to have to try to find a new supply source!
You do know we don’t care how long your videos are. And I watch them over and over. I just got my stencils out yesterday! Yay! Stencil month!

Love the fun you add into your crafting.😅 Fab tags, my fave was the floral.
Yes, I was really pleased with how the grungy florals turned out. Thank you so much for watching and for your lovely comment.
Love you stole, video is relaxing and I like the short videos. Thanks For sharing your time and talents

Absolutely gorgeous!!!
Thank you so much.
Sounds like a lovely way to spend a rainy Sunday - hope you're having lots of fun. So happy that you are enjoying the videos so much - thank you!
These tags are so beautiful!
Happy you like them - thank you for taking the time to let me know.
I watch them endlessly repeatedly. You're da bomb❤
Oh, that's so great to hear - thanks for such a lovely comment!

Fab tutorial ❤️👍😊
Happy you enjoyed it - thanks so much for taking the time to let me know.
Thank you. Your work is so beautiful and inspiring. I especially appreciate the zoom-in at the end.
Thank you Alison, love these tags! The longer the videos the better, I enjoy every second.
Thank you so much - I'm happy to hear that. Permission to have more minutes of fun... !!
LOVE your videos! This one was perfect! 🤎🤎🤎
So happy to hear that - thank you very much!
New to your channel, love this idea.😊
Happy you found your way here - welcome! Delighted you liked this video, and I hope you'll enjoy exploring the rest of the channel. Thank you so much for watching and commenting - much appreciated.

Meravigliosi 🤩
Thank you so much!
Some stand in little crates around my studio for flipping through for inspiration or just for pleasure (you can see what I mean here: ua-cam.com/video/EwkvmSSKvb4/v-deo.html )
Alternatively, they might form the basis for an art journal page (you can see the kind of thing I mean with that in this flipthrough - ua-cam.com/video/TYqLY1mSDsI/v-deo.html ), or be used as a card-topper, except I hardly ever make cards! Or occasionally they might be given as a gift, just as they are (when completed).
But for the most part it's the actual making that matters to me... the exploration, the state of flow I find when I'm creating. I'm more interested in process than in product. Hope that answers your question somehow!
❤❤❤
Thanks so much!
As always, love this, so thank you for sharing. Also can relate to the dissapearing salvaged patina, because it is all out of stock here in the netherlands 😂 Alison, might i ask when youre new stamps will come out? I am about to buy the rest of youre collection 😮
Ps could you or have you a video about your choise of colourcombo's?
Hope you can track down the ones you want - here's the PaperArtsy stockist list, alphabetically by country, in case you'd like some pointers... blog.paperartsy.co.uk/p/find-stockist.html
Thanks so much for watching and for your lovely comment.
you work is so delightful.
If you can't quite catch the names of the ones you like, let me know with a comment under that video and I can try to help with which one is which!
ua-cam.com/video/hMFUm9M7McM/v-deo.html
I hope that helps for now...
Beautiful tags. What will you do with them?
Sometimes I'll create a tag book (watch out for that in the Books Books Books episode this Wednesday), or I'll use a tag (either a background or a finished tag) as the basis for a journal page (you can see that kind of thing here ua-cam.com/video/TYqLY1mSDsI/v-deo.html
Occasionally I'll give one as a gift, or as a tag on a gift as an extra gift.
I love these, they're beautiful❤️
Could I ask, please - what size tags do you use? Do you get them from Amazon? x
