The film tells the story of the Korean War, when the leader of the third platoon of the Chinese Volunteer Army, Meng Daguan (played by Ren Tianye), was ordered to lead a team to rescue the reconnaissance platoon trapped behind enemy lines. After a series of hardships and obstacles, the third platoon successfully joined the reconnaissance platoon led by "Du Shenqiang" Du Chuan (played by Li Dongxue). In order to avoid greater casualties of the large army, Meng Daguan and Du Chuan decisively decided to trap the enemy's heavy artillery battalion that could not replenish supplies at a critical moment.
