Excellent video. Helped me think more about the Christianity in the world and how we're supposed to live as Christians altogether. Thanks and God bless!

I have no one to turn to but you Lord JESUS. Both of my sons have special needs and require so much from me. Lord I’m afraid. Every month I struggle trying to provide for my children struggling to pay rent and to buy groceries. God you have provided this far. Lord hear my prayers.💕💕
I’m no rich guy, but I could definitely part with a few hundred dollars to help you. Perhaps a dozen or so others on this thread could do so as well. Is there any way to get funds to you?
I appreciate the insights of this conversation that indicate some trends in the right direction. Maybe, as a society, we've reached an inflection point and recognize how much we need God.
Thank God for Bishop Barron. He is so incredibly brilliant and learned. Every Catholic must seek God and a life of virtues vs. material things and status. It's more than going to mass and praying. Love thy neighbor. Love God in everyday life. Let us look upon ourselves to be the intended extension of the church. Thank you, Bishop Barron. ❤🙏
I have come to be quite enamored with all there is to learn from the church through you, you have also riled me up to get a few friends who had a sudden interest in St Thomas Aquinas, we are planning to start some studies of his works under the supervision of the rector in our local seminar in Tijuana
Pray for conversions. We shouldn't be pushy with our religion, let's not make mistakes of the past but we should evangelize who we can, those who have even a bare minimal interest. Speak about your faith openly to those who want to know.
We should also just teach what we believe, so many people have such a skewed view of our religion. We have to just educate them on a basic level about it.
100% as a woman who was an atheist not too long ago, womans rights and views on sexuality were maybe the highest reasons I was against Christianity before.
@Penny-mb9mw It feels good inside especially in repentance because it's the way for us to become free from our sins and receive forgiveness for all women. I know sins slow our spiritual progression and can even stop it. I never regret repentance that would make it possible for us to grow and develop spiritually and again the privilege of being reconciliation to our Lord Jesus christ.
Can you list what sparked the change in you? A lot of women I know have the same perspective and I can't help but feel a few of them are in the same situation you used to be in
@robs.2671 Kindness helps increase my sense of connectivity with others, decrease isolation, and combat Christianity, and I have a good relationship with my Dad who encourages me to be kind to others.
Love discussions about this topic. Not sure if I’d be willing to say it’s because the Gospel messaging has necessarily improved, but equally a lot of young people are finding nihilism, materialism, consumerism, etc. is definitely as hollow and meaningless as warned. So inevitably in man’s hunger for meaning, many of those initially raised with some knowledge of the faith, returning with a more actualized vigor to understand.
I became a Christian this year after a lifetime of atheism. As I’ve prayed and changed my lifestyle to conform to biblical law I’ve experienced miraculous changes in my life. I’m so grateful to the Lord for guiding me to him after all these years. Special thanks to Trent Horn and Charlie Kirk who helped to de-program me from the miserable left-wing ideologies that blinded me to true love-the love of Christ.
Dear Bishop: May you have increased recognition as your work and words are so wise. I later added comments that I feel you could hopefully find useful.
What a wonderful episode. What jumped out to me was the description of the church in Africa as a supernatural church. Something that has been lost in the west. I have long felt that this is an impact of the change to the Novus Ordo mass. The old Latin mass had that sense of mystery. This has been lost in the new mass. Put differently, it has become familiar; and we all know what that breads.
To Rudy who asked the Listener Question at the end - A succinct way I've heard Bishop Barron express the thoughts he shared in answer to your question is: the Catholic Church is a big tent; find your place in it.
Every hour of every day somewhere throughout this globe as in Heaven, God is renewing the face of the Earth through His one holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. Thank you for helping to prove this through the technology He has allowed mankind to create.
Bishop “I can work with that” Barron. That attitude is probably what has been missing for a long, long time…”Perfect is the enemy of the good” or something like that. Thanks gents ✌
Great chat! Thank you, Bishop. This is anecdotal and not truly statistical, but it seems fairly obvious (in my circles at least) that women are less likely to affiliate due to, as you mentioned, a patriarchal view (right or wrong) of organized religion. I'd be very interested to hear more in that topic from you, especially as the synod contemplates clericalism and the role of women!
As a man who fell out of faith, then took in atheism and then agnosticism, and finally back to Roman Catholicism, I'd say the Lord will always get us back no matter where we run. Thank you so much, Bishop Barron as you were one of the reasons I came back.
Your steadfast commitment to God's work is inspiring, Pastor. This topic on Christianity's resurgence is crucial. Your energy and faith shine through, giving hope. Praying for you, your family, and the global Church as we navigate these times. Thank you for your unwavering guidance. God bless your ministry! Amen
Let’s give credit where credit is due, if Catholicism is making a come back it’s due largely to Bishop Barron and his use of the internet , and of course Word on Fire….take a bow B.B. ❤ thank you always .
@@growtocycle6992 That's true, but the religious conservatives have become more religious and more conservative as far as I can tell. There's a rejection of the weak-kneed libertarian mindset that Christians had for the last 60 years. And that's a starting point
Most Reverend Bishop, I've been a faithful follower of your, shows, interviews, sermons, etc. from the very first day on of World in Fire. You were still rector of Mundeleine Seminary, when I had the privilege to take part in a symposium on St. Pope John Paul II. I'm a religious priest from Austria. The pivital task of our order is that of parish ministry. Having been a pastor for 16 years, and involved in parish ministry I had become superfluous as a parish priest, when my parish got merged with three other parishes. And no other assignment had been given to me. They talk about shortage of priests. I find that kind of talk out of place. Every time I listen to you, or to Father Mike Schmitz, or Father Bernhard Mark, and other priests of that category from your country, I become jealous..We are not supposed to preach like that over here. What made me most jelaous was and is the still going on Eucharidtic Rivival in den Church of the US. With great aw did I watch the Eucharistic procession in Indianapolis. The section in the march of the seminarians, and the applauding people was just breathtaking - only wstching it. And now in this interview you tell us listeners that the is a new outbreak in Christianity - Catholicism. I only experience decline, and indifference. And I don't know if that German Synodal Path, that has swapped over to Austria with great acknowledgement among many of the priests, even into the episcopacy, can trigger any sort of a rivival of the Catholic Faith. God bless you
God bless You and Yours. I would shera this with You : By the will of Christ, the Catholic Church is, in fact, mistress of truth: its function is to authentically express and teach the Truth which is Christ [...] the disciple is bound towards Christ Master TO THE DUTY TO KNOW EVER MORE FULLY THE TRUTH THAT HE RECEIVED FROM HIM, to announce it faithfully and to defend it energetically while refraining from any means contrary to the Spirit of the Gospel. (Extract from the book “365 Days of Hope” by Cardinal Nguyen Van Thuan who spent 13 years in jail in hard conditions, bacause his faith)
I Recently Came Back to the Catholic Faith. its Been Almost exactly A year since I have returned. I was away for over 15 years, I left because I didn't feel any Reverence at the Church I was Attending. I walked out one day and stayed away. I have noticed the Church has Changed a LOT since I used to Go in the Sense that it Feels More Reverent Now. People are kneeling to receive Christ in the Eucharist, Women are wearing Veils, Men Dressing up in Suites. People seem to be showing their Love For Christ in a way that feels more authentic then it did over 15 years ago.
10:00 As a young male Christian myself, my understanding as to why young men are more willing to seriously affiliate with Christianity, and more specifically Catholicism, is because popular culture that appeals to men is wrapped up in Christian motif. Think ideas such as warfare, young men are drawn to popular portrayals of warfare such as World War 2 and many men will attach themselves to the ideas inherit within these popular portrayals that extend far beyond the portrayals themselves. The Middle Ages is one such example that is a massively popular source of interest to young men, and there they will easily find Catholicism and its many historical adherents. You won't be hard-pressed to find a young man on social media quoting King Baldwin IV of Jerusalem, who was portrayed by Ridley Scott as an inspirational Catholic monarch. Women on the other hand have no such popular cultural retreat. I think popular culture needs to bridge the gap between women and the church because Christianity's decline started in these spaces and these spaces continue to spur on its decline. Just my thoughts anyway.
I enjoy following Jordan Peterson and his study of Scripture. I feel that we are both on our own journey towards deeper faith, and I can look over and see how he's doing on his path, and reflect on my own journey.
Count me in, my brothers. I used to think I was smarter than God. I’m not. Knowing that now has brought me more Grace than a human being should be allowed to have. Bishop Barron has had a HUGE influence on that conversion. Bless you for that Bishop and thank you from someone who now craves only to be a very humble and simple man walking a path of Faith.
I hope so but Christianity only succeeds when Christians are in the world but NOT of it. Far too many Christians have become indistinguishable from the world in wanting worldliness: obsession with money, material possessions, status, power, neglect of community, etc. While the Eucharist is important, devotions to it are a waste if you treat your fellow human beings poorly! Unfortunately I have seen too much of that even in my own life. We must do better! “What you did for the least of these, you did for me.”
Good morning! Thank you for the word on the fire show. This episode, I believe guides the persons who have triggered a breakdown in their usual mental processes. Because it arises in vivid hallucinations, delusional thinking, and a profound sense of disorientation. I made thoughtful choices and promoted self-control by obligating to go more often to Church services to teach myself and be uplifted by fellow believers and the opportunity to serve and worship. I put my trust and faith in Jesus Christ, and I feel the Holy Spirit who brings love, joy, peace, and longsuffering and seals my soul, as my redemption and reconciliation with God. I understand people who say they love the church and if declining attendance is an issue, chances are it's because they don't see a direct benefit. My faith is contagious through my entire family and I guarantee that prayer will lead to recovery from physical illness with heart issues. Jesus, I trust in You!!! Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us. Cecilia Dreger and Family (Governors) Bishop Thomas Daly and Father Raj
As a 29 year old man who was an atheist but was just confirmed this past Easter, I can say I came to the church for a source of structure, community, and ultimate truth. Every day our society becomes more and more fractured and chaotic. Putting my trust in God as the ultimate source of truth and conforming myself to Jesus to share in his divinity has been the best decision of my entire life.
Your comment is very touching. And you are right: the world is going a little more towards chaos every day. All over the world. Please continue on your path of discovery of the GOSPEL, the CHURCH and the person of Jesus Christ, within your parish. Let us change our heart to conform it a little more each day with the person of Jesus. In this chaotic world, let us live a little more Faith, Hope and charity/love every day. I myself rediscovered my Catholic faith 8 years ago. And I changed a lot of things in my life and in myself. I changed my view of the world. Read the Gospel and other pious books. Pray every day, for yourself, for your loved ones, for your country and for peace in the world. May God bless you and your loved ones.
and I would also share this with You : (Psalm 25) :To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul; in You, my God, I trust. Do not let me be put to shame; do not let my enemies exult over me. Surely none who wait for You will be put to shame; but those who are faithless without cause will be disgraced. Show me Your ways, O LORD; teach me Your paths. Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; all day long I wait for You. Remember, O LORD, Your compassion and loving devotion, for they are from age to age. Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my rebellious acts; remember me according to Your loving devotion, because of Your goodness, O LORD. Good and upright is the LORD; therefore He shows sinners the way. He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them His way.
Donald Calloway, is also a really good speaker for men. Also the exorcist priest speaking out that demons attack the household and family through the father; these have been impacts that have got me to take being a Catholic serious.
I had a stunning experience of God.. literally immersed in love following my return and going to confession. This still left me with a hundred questions despite early Catholic education. All were fully answered. She IS the literal Body of Christ present in her sacraments. You will find joy and peace with her. And her priests are wonderful self giving saints, surrendering their whole lives to serving God with us. And Bishop Barron is a superlative example of the deep intellectual and life giving core of the church. I am a very grateful man.
I wonder if the series Chosen has had an effect on some of the trends. It not only has shown Jesus in an extremely positive way and has highlighted the role of both men and women, but especially men in a a very strong light.
In this more and more difficult times, we have all to come back to our churches, to the mass, to the EUCARIST ! We have to re-discover our Catholic Faith, to re-discover the SAINTS of the CHURCH and their teachings. We have to change step by step ourselves in order to be more in accordance with the GOSPEL ! Many, many christians have forgotten that our life as christians must be based on FAITH, HOPE and CHARITY/LOVE. We have to-rediscover daily prayer life, we have to pray daily for the Pope, for the Holy Church and for our brave bishops and priests. God bless You and yours !
9:30 yes, it's the Silent Generation that was like that, and they were the same whether they were teachers or game show hosts, it's not particular to the Church... There is something wrong with the culture of that Generation (which includes Richard Dawkins). I think something similar went on with their Gen X kids too.
Dr. Peterson is indeed a treasure and you give a very honest exposition on the man's work and how he plugged into the scene some eight or ten years ago. And he's even started a new school for Pete's sake, expanding his role as unofficial, un-ordained shepherd of sorts. I'm wondering whether we break out words like prophet at times like this? It seems fitting but altogether too lofty at the same time. We shall see. Loved the news about the growth in the ranks of the faithful.
Absolutely! The philosophical views of the mid-20th century impacted the Christian worldview immensely - I would add scientism in there along with cultural Marxism too. But I believe that the mentality stemming from the almost universal acceptance of contraception has played a huge role in the decline, not only of Christianity, but of Western culture in general. Thank you for another terrific conversation, good Bishop! 🙏🏻
I am a woman. I am conservative in my values and politics. And I find both Jordan Peterson and Bishop Barron brilliant in their insights about what it is to be human and, without God, how our humanity disappears. I read Word on Fire's The Gospels, and was deeply moved by the contents, the commentary and the beauty of the presentation. Raised as a Catholic, I received the Bible via the priest & Mass; as a voracious reader and an BA English graduate, I encountered Biblical references in all literary works. So The Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John were enlightening & awesome (in its godly meaning.
I love listening to Bishop Barron anytime, but if I may suggest, give him a solid chair to sit on, and place the the mike so it does not interfere with his face. Hearing Bishop Barron with Jordan Peterson is inspiring. Go well. With Love.
I reverted back to the Church in 2021, purely by grace. At the same time my family started to practice again, along with my extended family. We all happened to come back to the Church at the same time without influencing each-other. This is providence, not coincidence. I also started to meet young men who shared strikingly similar stories to me; being converted rapidly back to the Church by the grace of God at around the same time. Christianity IS making a comeback. God is calling everyone home.
I would like to share here a word from Father Maurice Zundel (Swiss Catholic priest and mystic): "God is not knowledge but a discovery. God is not an explanation but a person to encounter"
In that silence, we can discern, in the light of the Spirit, the paths of holiness to which the Lord is calling us. Otherwise, any decisions we make may only be window-dressing that, rather than exalting the Gospel in our lives, will mask or submerge it. For each disciple, it is essential to spend time with the Master, to listen to his words, and to learn from him always. Unless we listen, all our words will be nothing but useless chatter. (Pope Francis, Gaudete et Exultate, 150) - So, please, dear friend, continue on your path toward JESUS CHRIST. God bless You and Your familiy
Two things brought me fully back to the Church. Taylor Caldwells books The Listener and Dialogues with the Devil and Jordan Peterson. What JP did Bishop is focus on the wisdom of the Bible and how it relates today and why it’s important each story. The church can learn from that. When I’m at church every week they jump from Ezekiel to John etc etc w out focusing on the y r these stories important. The language is so different then today that translation and message can get lost to those not familiar w the style.
@@mymountrushmore6235 that’s what the priest is doing during his homily. The readings from the Mass can also be found online or by buying a book. They sometimes include commentary.
@@bowthor3203 they never go into depth of the readings and honestly the writing is in a form where most don’t understand it. Which is natural overtime as language changes. They should b going into depth at mass and not jump around. Some songs r nice but don’t need songs after every sentence. It’s distracting from the teachings. Unless the song is a passage.
I believe that as men grow in faith and leadership, they will draw their families into the church. This is an answer to prayer. Likewise, the draw on these men like Jordan Peterson, Elon Musk, Joe Rogan, Douglas Murray, Russell Brand, and others. These men are chosen. They are leaders with significant influence that will give witness to Christ. Likewise, women are becoming more public about choosing their families as their main focus. Will the church be ready? Think Teresa of Avila, the churches are rooms in the castle. That may include other religious, too. The eucharist draws them deeper into Christ, so the tabernacle needs to be on the high altar. The draw is a vortex drawing people deeper into Christ.
Around the 11:20 mark, the discussion surrounds a feminine theme. As I was being called to the faith, God led me to have the Grand Knight of our K of C council as my sponsor. I wear my K of C logo every day because it's puts me out into the world on mission, as a knight, fighting for the faith.
I have recently been going back to the Catholic Church. I was born a Catholic I straight away, but now I’m going back to the Catholic Church faith is God is important.
I think when we show our brothers who are Protestants. How much we love Jesus They will beging to wonder what is it you have that they don't have. In the holy mass, for example. We worship Jesus with our body and our five sense! No other congregation on earth worships Jesus the way we Catholics do! Peace!
In what way does Peterson act like a man? Is it that fact that he is a twig? How about the fact that he cries every single time he talks? Is it the fact that he is a massive liar? What part of that is masculine?
What a great conversation. But I have to say, as an Anglican priest, this is not the first time I ran across a great conversation with Bishop Barron that I wanted to share with everyone I know… until I got to the listener question that was calling for a polemic (albeit very mild and gentle) against Protestant Christianity, which led me not to share the video.
Well, folk like BB , Jordan Peterson , Iain McGilchrist, and Helen Joyce are making a fine contribution to sanity and a consideration of the metaphysical...to which we can now add Dawkins on wokeism.
I wonder if you realize that you Christians worshiping these insane people is why many are leaving, when you officially state the violent bigot JP as a good guy then you poison any claims to goodness
And Bishop Barron is right about the Church in Nigeria. And elsewhere in Africa and Asia. We in the West aren't really tested. Oh, sure, we have to deal with Leftism and its follies. But we don't face death for our faith. People in Africa and Asia do. That tends to sharpen your focus. I think a rebirth will come from Africa, or Asia.
Tom Holland and Jordan Peterson opened the door for me to come home after a long search in my life since my Catholic upbringing. Thank you God for your infinite Grace and Forgiveness that allowed this prodigal son to return.
Just weighing in on women and the intellectual aspect of the faith. When I first encountered apologetics, I was captured, and it brought me back to the Church and helped me navigate faith in the face of life-altering health issues. I guess I'm one of the few.

Its amazing Bishop Barron gives ample time for online ministry besides his duties.
Absolutely “always a pleasure” and definitely see you next time.
I thank God for Bishop Robert Barron who sees the beauty in our world and he clarifies scripture ❤❤🙏🙏🇺🇸
100% as a woman who was an atheist not too long ago, womans rights and views on sexuality were maybe the highest reasons I was against Christianity before.
I believe in the holy Gospel teaching that God is a God of joy and that His people should be marked by a spirit of celebration, go 👧🍂.
Feminism has probably been the most successful movement of indoctrination in our country's history. It gets you at a young age and twists your mind
Thank you Bishop Barron, yes let's talk about the Church in Nigeria. We want our story in Nigeria out there.
Praise Jesus
I became a Christian this year after a lifetime of atheism. As I’ve prayed and changed my lifestyle to conform to biblical law I’ve experienced miraculous changes in my life. I’m so grateful to the Lord for guiding me to him after all these years. Special thanks to Trent Horn and Charlie Kirk who helped to de-program me from the miserable left-wing ideologies that blinded me to true love-the love of Christ.
Fantastic. New Life.
God bless you.
This is the Good News. God welcomes everyone. And you're never too late for His banquet.
God is forever reaching out to all of mankind. Welcome home to Love. Real Love. God's love.
Excellent...thank you both!!
And Father Mike. And Alpha,😊
Tbh, I'm cynical still. Looks like the western world is becoming increasingly secular, still
Well its not coming back, so does he get the blame?
I like Catholic Answers. Trent and Joe Heshmeyer were pivotal in my conversion because they appeal to a Protestant mindset of systematic reasoning
@@growtocycle6992 That's true, but the religious conservatives have become more religious and more conservative as far as I can tell. There's a rejection of the weak-kneed libertarian mindset that Christians had for the last 60 years. And that's a starting point
Secular humanism, has not produced for us, the happier, more rational society we perhaps believed it would.
I think it is. The lines for confession have increased considerably in my parish. Thank God.
From Miami, FL! 🙌🏻🙏🏻🔥
Most Reverend Bishop,
I've been a faithful follower of your, shows, interviews, sermons, etc. from the very first day on of World in Fire.
God bless you
What a great conversation. Catholicism is truly compelling and it is exciting that there is renewed interest the great truths of the faith.

As a young male Christian myself, my understanding as to why young men are more willing to seriously affiliate with Christianity, and more specifically Catholicism, is because popular culture that appeals to men is wrapped up in Christian motif.
Men being men attracts women, appealing to women may sound right but is a backward and modern way of thinking
IWAS 40 YEARS OUT OF CHURCH.....I AM BACK AND HAPPY.....NOT EASY.....BUT WONDERFUL.❤
If it is.....Bishop Barron and Word on Fire can take not a little credit for same! God bless your continued work.
Glory be to God

Christianity on the rise!
A Christian view should be the foundation of the world
No more than true.
Thank you for posting
Truly good news!
Rigorous theology, intellectually challenging Christianity appeals to lots and lots of women too!
I love this man❤
If there is a comeback then Bishop Barron should be given some credit for it.
I am all woman here. Theology student. Love Peterson's approach. I know a whole lot of other women who do too.
Peterson fans are 99.999% boys between 9 and 15 years old
In this more and more difficult times, we have all to come back to our churches, to the mass, to the EUCARIST !
In certain segments, there is growth, but mostly losing ground.
I like this format once and awhile.
A strong man fully coded in the arms of God's possessions is safe.
I love listening to Bishop Barron anytime, but if I may suggest, give him a solid chair to sit on, and place the the mike so it does not interfere with his face. Hearing Bishop Barron with Jordan Peterson is inspiring. Go well. With Love.
Praise you Lord. I pray that it is! because that’s the only hope for this very wicked world at this point in time.
I LOVE the way he says Jesus' name!
(Pope Francis, Gaudete et Exultate, 150)
- So, please, dear friend, continue on your path toward JESUS CHRIST. God bless You and Your familiy
"Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. " John Adams
The last person I will be lectured on about morals is a man who owned people as property and regularly sexually assaulted them
Two things brought me fully back to the Church.
Maybe focusing on one book at a time w a focus as to its relevance to life n the wisdom the Bible is trying to infer on us is a better approach.
Peace!
I really hope so.
I know a lot of my female friends who love Peterson and men who act like men. It's appealing to us as well
In what way does Peterson act like a man?
Don't be fooled by Dawkins, he's a con man.
Gotta work on that German accent. I can help. I am German. :) Thanks for the program. Good stuff.
I don’t think Christianity ever went away, certainly not in my life!
Didn't know you were a fan of Edmund Burke! You should do a whole video on him; he really changed how I perceive beauty and goodness
Tom Holland and Jordan Peterson opened the door for me to come home after a long search in my life since my Catholic upbringing. Thank you God for your infinite Grace and Forgiveness that allowed this prodigal son to return.
I would love to see a talk between Bishop Barron and Tucker Carlson
Just weighing in on women and the intellectual aspect of the faith. When I first encountered apologetics, I was captured, and it brought me back to the Church and helped me navigate faith in the face of life-altering health issues. I guess I'm one of the few.
