Thank you Mr Holdrege for a beautiful and sensitive presentation. Yesterday I went to the Expressionists exhibition at the Tate Modern in London, UK which was amazing; and also to Leicester Museum in August with a similar theme. Your presentation has added so much more. The Tiger was on display at the Tate, it was spectacular. And the bright colours in his paintings are amazing. Also a painting of a family of cows, similar to the one in your presentation. I was mostly drawn to the Kandinsky works and had a strong emotional response. Your presentation has evoked an awe of Marc that will stay with me. Thank you again.
Thank you so much for sharing this lecture. Franz Marc is my favourite artist. I went to an exhibition in London in 1990 filled with amazing works by the likes of Van Gogh, Monet, Matisse, Renoir. Just as we were about to leave via the gift shop, I stopped dead and looked at the huge painting on my right and time stood still. I don't know how long I looked at "Dog in Front of the World" (aka "The White Dog"), but I knew I was experiencing a deep connection that would be hard to match.
I'm just reading this as I prepare to do my painting for my art course, and I noticed something significant about Deer II... recently I read about how whitetail deer tuck their tails when they are scared. Even though it appears the deer are moving with the flow of the landscape around them so freely and gracefully, they are likely running from something they are scared of. It is so meaningful in so many ways
Can't imagine a lecture that has added to what we feel in our guts from Marc, the sense of smell, movement , emotions no words thank you thank you. Sometimes one can feel lonely with Marc, wanting someone silently walking along side. Wanting ones herd almost. I feel less and more lonely. Thank you for being you.
