I'm currently planning out a awd swap on a mk7 fiesta st using the rear suspension / subframe and diff from a ford ecosport and i'm looking if the 2.3 out of a focus rs will fit, which it seems it will. It's going to probably be a gigantic project but your car has definitely been a huge inspiration

I've decided to not go with the EcoSport stuff because it's not that good geometry, I'm instead waiting for a rolling chassis of an r5 fiesta to go for sale, I saw some that sold for about 18k (stripped chassis is like 8k) with suspension and subframes and everything in it, so if something like that goes for sale again for a good price I'm buying it

I'd also want to make it something street legal and put an interior in it so I can at least drive it somewhere on a vacation without having to trailer it, like not a full race car, but like a rally car for the streets kinda thing, kinda like ken block had. I don't mind spending a bit more to make it something actually drivable on the streets. I also live very close to Germany and the autobahn, so I wanna try breaking 300 km/h, although I might do that with my current fiesta as I have a fully sleeved 1.6 engine coming in soon which will hopefully run about 500bhp in the near future, although all on the front wheels so idk how that's gonna feel at those speeds. Also lemmy know when you post the video, would love to see that

Yea it would work, but youd either have to get a kuga mk1 engine and gearbox, or a volvo 2.5t petrol or volvo 2.4D diesel, but other then that i cant see why it wouldnt work

hi, there are 2 clutches between the engine and rear diff, one is the normal clutch bolted to the engine which you use as normal with the pedal, the other is on the rear diff which is controlled electronicky

@@robertlamb2388 you need v50 rear knukles mate, the shock mount is in a different place and the bearing bolts in from the opposite side compared to the normal focus bearings.
Just out of interest, why didn't you use a gearbox out of a Kuga 2.5? That's also an M66 Volvo unit, although the gear ratios might be more for a crossover than a sporty car.
Hey, i could have used the kuga 2.5 gearbox but in the UK theyre very rare and they use the kuga uses the same gear ratios as the s60r :) all M66-C awd petrol gearboxes have the 3.77 final drive
you can depending on engine if its a 2.0 diesel you can, but if not youd have to swap the engine to either a 2.4 volvo D5 2.5 T5 st engine or kuga 2.0 diesel

@@Tvan95 kuga diffs are easier to find, and the v50 diff is gen 2 haldex so i needs the front wheels to spin abit before becoming awd, vs the kuga diffs are gen 3 which is more like proper awd and is engaged before the front wheels slip
@@centsam5947 So the front box is a kuga diesel and the wiring is just there. Other issue is the headlight leveling how did you get that sensor on? And would mk3 fuel tank fit easier as it has module built in?
@@nazsky786 the rear diff was from a 2.0 diesel kuga, but the transfer box needs to come from a 2.5 kuga or 2.5 v50, not sure about the fuel tank, im not sure if the module would be able to work with the ecu in the mk2
@@centsam5947 I have the kuga rear end and v50 axle. I used the kuga rear AWD box and v50 axle but with RS mk2 parts also to make rear end. I then stopped trying to get fuel tank and angle gear. impossible to get. Issue I faced with back are the fuel 2 sides of tank, fuel gauge, and headlight level. Looking at RS mk3 info they have 2 pumps one to get fuel from the other side to main side and another pump to injectors. To fix that could try doing same thing but external to push fuel to main side and keep the original Mountune pump. There is also of RS stuff that wish to keep like LSD, but know you can get a LSD for a v50 AWD from quife. Is the casing the same on m66 AWD and m66 fwd boxes? I mean the opening on the gearbox output to angle gear. That way keep the rs gearbox just replace the LSD for AWD LSD.
@@nazsky786 i just uesd the v50 fuel pump 2:11 which has a pipe that pulls the fuel from one side to the other, then just used a fuel pressure regulator to regulate the flow, an rs mk2 gearbox you could just stick a new awd diff in and replace the driveshaft seal with an awd one and yes it would work, but not an st box st box has a different case
One thing bothers me is the lack of an LSD in the rear. I searched far and wide for one for the Kuga, couldn't find any, did you solve this issue? I might have missed it in the video.
i cant see any need for an LSD, even in the rain you get 0 Slip even from a launch, unless you drop the clutch and turn in you wont have an issue with traction, but yes you can stick an s60r lsd in if you really want
the mk2 rs already has the tunnel and bolt holes to accept kuga 4wd running gear rs shell was built at factory to run 4wd but decided stick with fwd 🙈🙈 nutters
dono, the parts are pretty rare, also if its the transfer case thats gone, replace the transfer case then put a gen3 haldex on it, youll get more power to the rear and it puts less stress on the transfer box

nah i tried a kuga subframe but its completely different and wont fit onto a focus chassis without modification, you need a v50 subframe

What extra wiring is needed to do this conversion. Is it running ST ecu or volvo
nothing really, the wires are already in the car, theres a plug under the rear driver seat taped up

The 4wd system on the kuga came from 4wd rs mk2 which ford developed but never put ib the rs mk2 because of the 4wd system being too heavy
yea, probably would have been to heavy, even out the factory the mk2 rs weighs like 150kg more then an early mk2 st

true, wasn't just the shell thats ready for 4wd, the gearbox in the rs is pretty much ready for the transfer case to be bolted into it too.
