The pricing isn't an issue. But the limitations are. Since most of the texture generation and sprite generation outputs are of very low quality. About 75% - 80% of all of these generated images will always get wasted. That means about 2250 of our points will get wasted each month.
Yeah, i wish the credits woul not expire , i.e not a monthly subscription but you buy credits and use them until they run out.
Have you used any AI tools to help with your game development? Or maybe you're totally against that? 🤔 Let me know!

I was going to get it day one mostly for the texture generator... the $30 isn't an issue for me... but the limitations are. I will need to see how this all plays out over time.
In order to not become overshadowed by OpenAI, Unity Muse needs to extensively train its chat LLM on asset documentation from the asset store. Everyone is building games with assets, and it's a strength but also a pain point for developers who get confused.
Even for myself, I need it to be trained on the cutting edge of Photon Fusion 2.0 and the latest XR for my multiplayer vr claymation game. And since my artstyle is set, I won't be using the other features.
Here are my thoughts:
Sprite Generation:
I think the sprite generation is not that bad. I have used Dall-E 2 and although it can generate images with high resolution, it cannot generate sprites that good. Unity Muse is more aligned to create 2d orthographic images while Dall-E is more aligned to create 3D images.
Texture Generation:
It is quite good.
Chat:
The chat is quite expensive and not very good. ChatGPT 3.5 is way better option right now. They need to improve the Chat.
I agree with this. I was hopeful for the muse suite but the pricing structure kills all my enthusiasm. I don't mind Unity charging for services like this, but this model just isn't it.
I don't see the point when other services offer comparable, or better, products with a likely lower combined cost when you inevitably go over the low limits Muse gives you and have to buy more or whatever it is you have to do to get more Points to spend. Maybe one day in the future it will look enticing but not at all in it's current form.
Where is the animation generation?
Bro they should give allat for free and unlimited. That's how you serve a real good service and push everyone to their engine
So you don't understand how much all this costs to create and run then....
I may be wrong, but I read somwhere that some publiser, such as Steam, disallow AI-assisted game.
That is correct! Steam is known to reject games that use AI generated content because of the questionable copyright
@@CocoCodeJust wondering do they also reject game that has like gpt generated code 😅
@@CocoCode Isn't it the content that copyrights other people contents. Unity said that Unity Muse and Sentis will not be a problem.
Steam doesn't have anything against AI, what they do have something against is using AI-generated content that was trained on data you don't have the rights to use, which isn't a problem with Muse.
i was going to buy it...until i saw that it works with a point system...what the heck where they thinking??
They only think with their wallet :(
I like the direction they are going with it but just sprites and textures for 30 a month seems pretty weak right now. If you can start to create 3d models and terrains then were getting somewhere
What's not yet mentioned is that the results of Muse are legal to use (according to Unity) while the results of other image generators are sketchy. This may be the reason why the results are not great yet. It wasn't trained with lots of input.
Great for making a video game concept with low quality imagery because it still allows you to get the MVP done then ask for investments to get higher quality imagery.
Good start, but the pricing is absurd
Make sure to correctly advertise chatgpt when you do , its 20 messages as the reply and your input both count. So the 40 isn't really reality.
This is incorrect. I just did a (10 minute 😓) test to check the cap and it is still the limit of 40 messages *send by the user* per 3h.

@@CocoCode Your "Messages" are one liners.
It's not incorrect you are just using 1 message or less with all those one liners. I have countless of convos capping at or before 20 inputs.
@@CocoCodeDo appreciate the effort though
Reached 30 messages this time. Will probably allow me up to 40, but had to use it for my other task (which also worked).
This time both input and output is way longer: chat.openai.com/share/e54bea98-74f7-486d-bb6c-586cbcda6929
Please provide an example of a messages that stopped you before 40msg/3h.
@@CocoCode I'll try to make a convo without "private" info somewhere this week.
As I mostly use it in relation to code so a lot of it is private code so can't directly share a convo right away.
Interesting though that it doesn't hit the cap that soon for you.
Those tools are great but i'm still staying away from unity for now. Great video!
This feature would be great for indie devs with low time or that don't really feel comfortable with making art, but the pricing and limitations are only accessible to companies or devs who actually work with it. So even though muse seems really exciting, it's probably bound to failure
Unity, instead of improving their main product (the engine) who's beginning to seriously lag behind other premium (and even FOSS) engines, is trying to compete on the cloud with Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure, and at the same time on AI with OpenAI/Microsoft, Google and Meta...
This tells how much the people in Unity's upper management have no idea what they're doing.
Which other engines, particularly FOSS, are they lagging behind?
Hey! How to promote our game with free and make more installs on Play Store
Why they have points?? The 30 per month is already pretty high. These limitations is a big NO from me.
Because of server loads and costs?
the Muse saying it's based on GPT 3 is a huge turn off lol, i've used them a bit, all the sprites were garbage indeed, the couple textures I tried weren't great but I didn't put much effort on that. It's just funny to me the texture/sprite is plugged in the engine and the chat isn't, the chat would be most helpful so it can view the project and solve problems.
it's a pathetic excuse of an Open AI knockoff right now, but I hope it changes.. i had better hopes for it.
$30/mo no heccin way, you'd expect UNLIMITED everything with THAT price. what if we're paying $30/mo and use all tokens, need to spend more that month? nope, not worth it. they need to re-evaluate this useless thing, it's probably worse than that controversy of September 13ish.
I forgot to mention, the chat becomes very obsolete and cuts off after ANY EVERY message after you've done like around 20 prompts on the same chat. you might as well start a new chat that doesn't remember anything after that amount of prompts and that's a failure.
I believe it's even visible on the video that numerous times I received errors while sending messages in Muse chat. Sometimes even phrasing the message differently made chat stuck :(
Technically it's still in Early preview, but on the other hand they spend a good few minutes to talk about it on the stage, so I guess they would like people to start using it
@@CocoCode But simply chat is not enough. They might need to add a specific Unity aligned feature to Chat. LIke the ability to connect it to a project and it parses the code itself.
So limited for so much money...really not worth it all all.
considering how hit and miss ai generation is, the pricing model is bogus and not worth it at all.
I legit don't care about AI.
both artistically and technically, it is currently incapable to meet the standards set by both me and artists/engeneers you can hire or commission.
So a typical Unity is typical... forces you to pay for things that other tools (or game engines) will give you for free. LOL
So what are they forcing you to do, and what other engine has built-in AI texture and sprite generation?
@@HietakissaThere is OR if you didn't notice. Online AI generators will give you for free what you have to pay for using Unity AI systems. As with the other game engines... LOL. The amount of features for example UE5 is giving you for free out of the box you have to buy buying assets in Unity is just outstanding.
@@tomtomkowski7653 what are some of these features?
@@tomtomkowski7653 Have you ever developed and released a game?
Ethical questions aside, thats kinda a ripoff for a bunch of textures. While most AI tools can do that easily and for free, and some even can do much better, like complete 3d models. THAT would be something worth paying.
compares with other ai tools using properly written prompts while using basic poorly written prompts for muse ai lol
i thought its free 💀
HAHAH... no.
Unity Muse is just a joke. For game texture and sprite, stable diffusion and dall E can do that. Muse chat is just chatGPT, and to be honest Claude 3 opuse is even better now in coding.
Unity proving their failur again and again.
My main problem with Unity is that it runs like ass on Linux, Godot is better in that respect.
