Lugner : I'm a demon, Frieren, but the training you put this human girl through? You're a monster.
Especially considering Fern was fighting him with only one arm ... crazy
Love your reactions! The edits are top tier, and both of you are so funny. This show is a masterpiece. Keep up the good work
9 and 10 are so good, 10 especially! Cant wait for it!
Graf Granat is a noble. Graf is a title, equivalent to count. Also, Granat is NOT granite, its garnet, a red semi-precious gemstone, hence why there is a red gem in the family logo.
Fern slowly walking towards Lügner with a death stare is one of the most badass things I've ever seen. She's so cool.
Back when I watched it for the first time, I had been hyped up about those fights since Frieren told Draht "Just so you know, I'm strong." and the series of episodes until episode 10 was consistently one of the most epic and satisfying things in anime.
Fern fighting with 1 hand. Mad respect!
Thank you for sharing 😊
This is probably my favorite anime fight of all time.
just a heads up but at around 3:26 where Graf talks about her doing something to overcome their will (in the full episode), basically the way she got around them putting up resistance against her will is by beheading them. hence, Aura the Guillotine
Super excited and can't wait for the next episode reaction
I love when people notice how much they animated the HELL out of that Stark jacket scene. This show deserves props for good talent PLUS good scheduling. RIP to all the talented people whose name gets dragged through the mud because the production committee gives them no time to actually make art. And people go and blame the animators/directors/producers, etc.
Love this battle and Strak just putting on his coat
Once Stark realizes Linie has no power stroke but instead is just copying Eisen's movements, he tricks her by opening his side for her cross strike, and instead comes down on her with power. Even had she killed him there, his axe would still have come down on her. Stark is a super human warrior like his family, and can take a great deal of battle damage. Priests are the healers in this world as they should be in ours.
I love this song. For such an epic fight it just shows Fern is playing around with her food.
next episode will be lit! Some upcoming episodes will have fights. Its NOT all 'slice of life' in this series.
Stuff in the manga which I hope we'll see in Season 2 is even MORE intense with even MORE powerful foes...
0:50 Graf means Count, Sesame Street's Count von Count is Graf Zahl (literally Count Number) in German for example.
-That moment after Aura says "Himmel isn't here any more." is the moment when a) you can feel the air temperature drop like a rock and b) you realize "Oh, Aura.... You gon' die _nasty,_ now."
-Fern's firing speed with offensive magic is so great that fans have nicknamed it the "ZoltrAK-47."
It's kinda silly the English subs use "Graf" instead of just "Count" (伯爵, hakushaku) because a lot of people end up missing his noble title. Some people even mistake Graf for his first name. It's not, like, critical info or anything, but still. I'd heard chief recently, but mayor is pretty funny, too.
Eisen: Let me tell you how to defeat powerful opponents. Just fight like it's Dark Souls.
Mages can sense mana. Aura isn't going to use her scales on anyone she senses is stronger than her.
Stark may have been taking hits, but once he calmed down enough to realize they barely hurt he was able to win quickly. He just needed to flex his abs to create an opening.
The Seven Sage of Destruction were a group of top-notch demons, very powerful, directly below the Demon King. You'll learn more about them if you read the manga which goes beyond what's in the anime.
I love how Linie used pretty much the worst possible skillset for this fight. She had no strenght required for Eisen's style, so most of her meaningful attacks had massive windup and spins, just to build some momentum. That fancy attack that hit Stark in the face looked scary, but barely did anything, same as her last attack where she had no time to build momentum.
Meanwhile, Stark's "Lightning Strike" took exactly one frame from start to finish.
It's that demon pride acting up again, she wanted to prove her magic was superior to the real thing so she fought with his own techniques despite being far too weak to do more than superficial damage with them. She may have fared better if she'd stuck with the spear, though without exploiting Stark's psychological damage she might've just gotten bisected immediately. Really Lugner threw the whole fight by deliberately missing Fern's vitals, I'm not sure Stark could have taken both of them.
@@doincrimesjohnson I think this is underestimating Linie by comparing her to Eisen, who is truly mind-bogglingly strong, enough to lift a boulder the size of a car when he is "too old to swing an axe now, I'd only get in your way". When Stark is thrown against that tree this episode there's a huge groove in the earth where he was thrown back; Stark is Eisen's apprentice and has somehow been trained to take an incredible beating without getting seriously injured. Sure, she could possibly have fared better with another weapon against Stark, but against any lesser opponent she would have wiped the floor with them with Eisen's technique and her demonic strength.
Aura talking big for someone who was too afraid to show her face until AFTER Himmel died, even as an old man she was afraid him. Next Ep. you get to see why she should've stayed under her rock.
5:29 Sometimes the editing done in these videos kills me 😂
7:44 "you weren't fast enough" yeah that's what she said
Best anime battle of the year!
Not 100% sure if the translation is accurate but Graf Granat roughly means either: Count Red Gem or Duke Red Stone.
I barely know anything in German so feel free to correct me fellow internet denizens.
His title is graf german for count
Fern's using an auto clicker and Stark has HP hax, plz report!
This episode is pure flexing by the production team. From Stark's jacket, to Fern's strut, to Linie's gymnastics, and, oh yeah, two of the most impressive fights I've seen in years. And all of it set to a brilliant OST by Evan Call on top of it.
Can't lie, when Frieren ended the next anime was just... meh. I kept comparing every show to this legend of a 28epi run and was found wanting. Heck, as much as I love Oshi No Ko, s2 was really damn good, it wasn't Frieren.
No, neither Fern nor Frieren have healing magic. You'll learn more why in an upcoming episode, so won't say more.
the scales aura carries aren't special at all. it is just the medium through which her spell uses to weight the souls.
the scales themselves are not magical in the slightest so unless you know how to use the spell the scales are worthless.
