This song brings back memories growing up in Keaukaha on Big Island. My Mom and her friends would party all weekend and this song would pop up cuz dishes would pile up and we were tired of washing it. So as we were washing it and complaining they would sing this song to us, and my Sister and I would just buss laugh!!!!
Growing up in the the 70’s and 80’s and when family and friends would come over to paina(for 2-3 days 😁) and all the instruments would come out to jam…. This song would GUARANTEE be sung at least once during the night/day. And usually part of a medley with songs like “Salomila”. And ALWAYS with rascal (kolohe) verses that we kids weren’t supposed hear. 😁 Miss those days dearly.
Makes my heart CONTENT n brings back good memories of when my DaD n all our 'ohana would get together at the "KOHNAH HOUSE" in PaPaKölea. As a young girl, I DEFINITELY knew all da Aunties n Uncles was all feeling good n ENJOYING each other's company when they started to sing this song, n others like this. (I remember my Dad had a favorite song, don't know exact words, but some of the words I do remember was: "if no mo Puka in da behbahdeez, how can the futt come out" ....or something like that. I know had about Puka, futt, panty, underwear, he no care, etc....lol. those were the good'ole days. 'OHANA WEEKENDS IN PAPAKOLEA!
