Well, you don't. From my reading (which isn't comprehensive mind you) the infection runs its course and isn't living in the tank long-term. An infection in the tank heavy enough to be contagious to humans will likely kill off any livestock susceptible to it. I didn't break down my tank and there's no way to treat the system. Definitely best to take precautions for a while though!
